2025 Shintoku Town cherry blossoms Mt. Shintoku Shrine is a famous cherry blossom spot, but the cherry trees blooming along the town’s riverbanks and in its parks are also very beautiful. The town’s cherry trees are swaying in the wind and their petals are gradually falling. However, the cherry trees toward Kutcharo are now in full bloom and at their best. Although the weekend sadly looks cloudy and rainy ☁️☔️, why not come and enjoy a drive while viewing Mt. Shintoku Shrine’s blossoms, strolling among the town’s cherry trees, or exploring the cherry trees around Kutcharo? We also offer rental bicycles and rental cars, so feel free to contact us 💁‍♀️ Wishing everyone a wonderful day today as well 🌸 #Hokkaido #Tokachi #Tokachi tourism #Shintoku Town #Shintoku Town Tourism Association #JR Shintoku Station #rental bicycles #sightseeing by rental bicycle #rental cars #cherry blossom spots #famous cherry blossom sites #Tukutuku station-front complex #tuktuk #tukutuku #hokkaido #hokkaidotrip #hokkaidotourism #tourism #tokachi #shintoku #cherryflowers #blossom #welcomeshintoku #discovershintoku

Introducing the town’s only working space. Facing the street in front of JR Shintoku Station, the landmark is Soma Shoten with a wood-rich exterior and large windows. Soma Shoten @419soma419 This long-established shop, founded 119 years ago, sells books and stationery. You can also buy local products in a variety of categories. From late May through late October, the shop hosts a farm-fresh vegetable stall. Local farmers bring freshly harvested, seasonal produce every morning. @ekivege ↑ Here is information about Soma Shoten’s vegetable stall. The working space is located inside the shop on the left after you enter. It isn’t like a private room, so we were told it might not be ideal for web meetings, but it offers a bright, open area with pleasant background music where you can do writing and other desk work. *Please note that events are sometimes held in the shop, so call ahead if you wish to use the space.* ☎ 0156-64-5055 If you want to play hard in Shintoku Town and then get down to work, please make use of Soma Shoten’s working space. Thank you very much for waiting! We will begin the light-up tonight, May 2.🔦 6:00 PM–10:00 PM The period will be determined based on when the blossoms fall. Since temperatures are still low, please bring warm clothing when you visit.💁‍♀️ Approximately 2,300 Ezo-yamazakura cherry trees on Mt. Shintoku Shrine will be lit from the shrine office area up the steps toward the precincts and around the shrine grounds. Mt. Shintoku Shrine is one of the prefecture’s premier cherry-viewing spots. @shintokujinja When in full bloom, the view is truly impressive! * The event period may shift slightly depending on the timing of petal fall. Please check @welcome_shintoku on social media before coming. * To avoid stressing the flowers, we use LED floodlights for an environmentally considerate illumination. To Little Forest Restaurant Popeye After a hibernation period, they have opened for the 2025 season, so I went to visit right away. Popeye sits alone at the farthest edge of the mountainside in the Kamisahoro area. Its single-story circular shape and wooden sign greet you with a charming exterior. Inside, the room faces south with pastureland stretching out and views of the Hidaka Mountains. Plenty of sunlight pours in, creating a comfortable space. People of all ages are welcome, and small children are especially encouraged to visit. The menu includes set meals, pasta, rice dishes, and desserts. The highly recommended item is the lunch special, the “Seasonal Popeye Lunch.” The contents change each month, and the main staple rice is kamameshi cooked in-house. You can ask to substitute plain steamed rice for the kamameshi, so feel free to mention it. ※Because quantities are limited, it may sell out early. It’s about a 15-minute drive from JR Shintoku Station, roughly 11 kilometers away. On a sunny day, it makes for a pleasant drive; enjoy a leisurely lunch while taking in the views, or stop by to refuel after a full day of activities in town. Be sure to drop in 💁‍♀️ ※The regular closing day is every Monday, but if a holiday falls on a Monday, they take their day off after the holiday instead. ※If you plan to come from far away, it might be a good idea to check in advance whether they are open. To Shintoku Shrine Mountain. I went to check on the cherry blossoms. The buds are plump and their color is deepening. However, it looks like they will not bloom for a while yet. There’s an event at Shintoku Shrine Mountain this weekend, but it may not be possible to hold it amid cherry blossoms. The cherry blossoms may still be some way off, but azaleas and ezō-engosaku (Corydalis japonica) are already giving a hint of spring’s arrival. Shintoku Shrine Mountain is gradually taking on spring’s colors. If you’re nearby, come and observe the wildflowers and the cherry blossom progress.💁‍♀️ Also, the Shintoku Shrine Mountain Spring Festival will be held on Sunday, April 27th, so please come and join us.🌸 Welcome to Shintoku Town #welcomeshintoku Come back to Shintoku Town To Shintoku Shrine Mountain. Mt. Odasshu “Tokachi is clear; the Hidaka Mountain Range looks especially beautiful this season with snow still clinging to its peaks.” Sitting at the farthest end of the Hidaka Range on its northern side, Mt. Odasshu stands as a symbol of Shintoku Town. The lowlands have thawed, but the mountains still hold much snow. When the surrounding fields were entirely white, we longed for spring because snow removal was necessary, yet now that time feels nostalgic—the pure, cold whiteness of the snow lingers in memory. This morning the cold eased and it warmed up, reaching nearly 18°C around noon. We are not quite in the warm embrace of spring, but the changing winds and views make the season’s arrival palpable. Introducing a One-Day Experience Tour 😄 ~A Tour Around Tokachi, the Dairy Kingdom~ A 1-DAY tour to learn about the lives of people who work with cows in Shintoku and Shimizu towns Shintoku and Shimizu, located in the northwest of Tokachi, are largely mountainous areas bordered on the west by the Hidaka Range and on the north by the Daisetsu mountain system. With little flat land, dairy farming thrives here more than crop cultivation. Kitahiro Farm is one of the large farms in Shintoku often called a mega-farm. It raises about 900 cows and works daily to ensure people can reliably enjoy safe, secure milk. In the afternoon we move to Shimizu town to visit Miyaji Farm. There, cows graze naturally around the clock and are fed only pasture, as the farm pursues dairy farming that minimizes the burden on the animals and on nature. Through farm work experiences, cheese making, and a stroll through the grasslands, you can feel the diversity of dairy farming in Tokachi. Please take this chance to encounter the lives of people living alongside other creatures. Tour Schedule 10:00 Gather at Kitahiro Farm 10:05 Kitahiro Farm tour and cheese-making experience Try making mozzarella cheese using fresh milk. 11:30 Kitahiro Farm cheese tasting and pizza lunch With the cooperation of a pizza shop in Shimizu town, you will also try making pizza using the mozzarella cheese you made and a chewy dough made from Hokkaido wheat and natural yeast. 13:00 Depart Kitahiro Farm (travel by private car) 13:45 Kyodo Gakusha Shintoku Farm workshop tour and shopping At Kyodo Gakusha, discover the secrets behind delicious cheese. (Tasting available) 14:45 Depart Kyodo Gakusha Shintoku Farm (travel by private car) 15:30 Miyaji Farm pasture walk and grass-fed milk tasting See cows raised entirely on pasture and fed only grass as you stroll through the grazing land. Taste grass-fed milk. 17:00 Tour ends Operating period: Year-round Time: 10:00–17:00 (about 7 hours) Group size: 2–10 people Price: Per person For 2 people: Adult ¥78,100, Elementary school child ¥14,300 For 3 or more: Adult ¥57,200, Elementary school child ¥14,300 If English interpretation is included, the prices are as follows. Per person For 2 people: Adult ¥110,000, Elementary school child ¥14,300 For 3 or more: Adult ¥72,600, Elementary school child ¥14,300 Please make your reservation at least seven days before your desired date. (Depending on guide availability, we may not be able to accommodate your requested date.) Please note that guests who have been living abroad within seven days prior to entering Japan cannot enter hygiene-controlled areas for quarantine reasons. Depending on the reported global situation of foot-and-mouth disease as determined by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, we may refuse participation in the tour. Please understand in advance. Would you like to take a peek behind the scenes of dairy farming and food while listening to producers' stories? This is also a great opportunity to interact directly with producers. We hope that one day of experience will bring new discoveries and perspectives, enriching your lifestyle. We would be delighted if the Tokachi experience becomes one page of your travel memories. 😄 If you are interested, please visit our federation’s official website page "BEHIND THE GOOD TASTE ~A Journey Connecting to the Source of Food: Tokachi~" from the URL below! 'Chinese Eatery Miura Shoten' Last week they announced that their signature soy sauce ramen🍜 had been renewed, so I went to try it right away! At Miura Shoten you can customize your ramen. This time I customized it as follows… ① Noodle firmness—firm ② Green onions—extra ③ Back fat—normal ④ Special ichimi chili—normal And I ordered a large serving It looked jet black. A pitch-black soy sauce ramen🍜 The owner told me they blend in tamari soy sauce✨ First, the soup. Contrary to its appearance, it had a deep richness and the soy sauce flavor filled my mouth. Next, the straight medium-thick noodles clung to the soup, and I couldn’t stop eating them. The extra green onions cut through the rich mouthfeel with their aroma rising through the nose and the soup, leaving a refreshing finish. With plenty of vegetables and the satisfying weight of the medium-thick noodles, it was very delicious🍜 A new specialty of Shintoku Town! Pitch-black in appearance, richly flavored in the old style Pitch-black soy sauce ramen 'Shintoku Black' Please give it a try🍜 #Hokkaido #Hokkaido gourmet #Hokkaido sightseeing #Hokkaido is huge #Hokkai-do #Tokachi #Tokachi #Tokachi sightseeing #Tokachi gourmet #Shintoku Town #Shintoku #ramen #jet black #Shintoku Black #hokkaido #hokkaido_lovers #hokkaido_love #ilovehokkaido #hokkaidotrip #hokkaidolikers #hokkaidolove #hokkaidosgram #hokkaidofood #hokkaidotravel #tokachi #shintoku

The 2025 season Shintoku Shrine Hill "Night Cherry Blossom Light-Up" has been confirmed. Period: April 25 (Fri) to May 11 (Sun) About 2,300 Ezo-yamazakura cherry trees on Shintoku Shrine Hill will be illuminated, from the area around the shrine office up along the stairs to the precincts and nearby grounds. Shintoku Shrine Hill is one of Hokkaido’s leading cherry blossom spots. @shintokujinja When in full bloom, the view is truly spectacular! We can’t wait for the warm spring weather and the buds to sprout. *The event period may shift slightly earlier or later depending on the timing of the cherry blossoms’ opening and falling.* Please check @welcome_shintoku on social media before you visit. Spring’s Arrival Shintoku Town has been getting warmer over the past few days. Walking along the Poppo-no-Michi trail, on the former Karikachi Line, you can already see the white and yellow of the flowers as mizubashō and fukujusō buds begin to open. At Takutetsu Kinokotan (拓鐡キノコタン), visitors can also try collecting birch sap in a hands-on, springtime activity. Around the end of the month, the Ezo-yamazakura, celebrated as Tokachi's finest, will begin to bloom.

You can enjoy wakasagi fishing on Lake Sahoro. The wakasagi fishing season at Lake Sahoro officially begins tomorrow. Today the temperature was 0°C, the ice on the lake measured 20 cm thick, and sleet fell, but many anglers were already enjoying their first catches. A temporary toilet has been set up in the parking area next to the fishing spot, and ice patrols on the lake will run from Tuesday, January 7 through Sunday, March 2, so preparations for the season are complete. As for catches, many anglers reported landing around 100 fish. If this is your first time trying wakasagi fishing or you don’t have gear, Tokachi Outdoor Mates (TOM) [0156-65-2411] offers full rentals including tents, fishing equipment, and heaters, plus guided instruction on fishing techniques. On request they will also prepare tempura from the wakasagi you catch, so please contact them. Today there was little wind and it didn’t get extremely cold, but this is a mountain valley with good airflow, so please come prepared with warm and windproof clothing.

The “Welcome Shintoku Illumination” lighting began today in front of Shintoku Station. On the opening day, about 40 people, including kindergarten and nursery children from the town and their guardians, attended the lighting ceremony; when the children counted down and the lights came on together, cheers of “Wow!” broke out. The event started in 1987 (Showa 62) and was held every year until last June, when redevelopment work around Shintoku Station began and forced a cancellation last year. With the sidewalk area in front of the station now complete, the event can be held again this year. The scale is smaller than before, but we plan to expand the displays in future years as surrounding facilities are completed. As the first new addition this year, a new illuminated Ezo deer sculpture has been installed. The stag measures about 2 meters in body length and stands 2 meters tall; up close it has an impressive presence. Nearby, a doe is depicted grazing, nestled beside him. Visitors to Shintoku, please be sure to see the refreshed “Welcome Shintoku Illumination.” #Hokkaido #Tokachi #Shintoku Town #Shintoku Town Tourism Association #Shintoku Station #illumination #Welcome #Shintoku Illumination #Ezo deer #japan #hokkaido #tokachi #shintoku #welcomeshintoku #illumination #shintokustation

In June 2025, I visited Tokutoku, a community exchange center opening next to Shintoku Station. The facility combines a display of railway heritage, a kids’ area, a shop selling Shintoku specialties, a cafe, and a multipurpose hall. The tourism association will move to Tokutoku next year, and we look forward to more opportunities to interact with visitors than ever before. #Hokkaido Tokachi #Shintoku Town #Shintoku Town Tourism Association #Shintoku Station #railways #railway heritage display #kids’ area #cafe #local specialties
