Went to Takadanobaba over the weekend and decided to go to this ramen restaurant called "Ore no Sora" 俺の空. There was a bit of a wait to get into the restaurant but after about 10-15 mins we finally got in and were able to order. They seemed to be taken measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus and had spaces open between seats and only half the seats were filled. I don't remember the name of the ramen that I ordered but they all seemed to be quite similar. Usually I would order a spicy ramen, but this one you had to ask for the spicy paste separately it's free so I just decided to try it without it. The restaurant offers free large servings and so I did that as I was quite hungry. The noodles were thinner than those of most ramen restaurants I go to, and I prefer thinner noodles so it was nice. The bowl itself was really full of noodles. It didn't look like it was that much food at first, but it turned out to be a lot. We ordered a small rice dish covered with pork no photo to share and while we did finish eating it, we were incredibly full afterwards. Personally it's not the flavor of ramen I would normally choose as it was almost like a fish and tonkotsu base, but even still it was quite good. I think if you like fish base ramen you'd really like this ramen. Even though it's not the flavor I really like, I would still definitely recommend this restaurant as the food itself was of good quality. Definitely check it out if you're by Takadanobaba Station or just looking for some noodles

Forgot to include this in my post yesterday so I'm posting it today. When I was walking to Minami-Senju I stopped in for lunch at a place called "Hikari Ramen" 中華そば 光 and enjoyed a really interesting bowl of ramen... I got the special shoyu ramen 特製醬油らーめん I believe it was, and I think it cost about ~1000 yen but it had some unique characteristics as you can probably tell by the photo. I'm pretty sure out of all the bowls of ramen I've eaten I've never had one with a pink egg. I was surprised at first but just thought it was kind of something funny that gave the ramen shop its own sort of identity. Also, while I have had meatballs in some of the ramen I've eaten before, it's quite rare in my experience or maybe I'm just not ordering the right ramen lol so I thought that was kind of interesting as well. The ramen tasted great though, the pink didn't add any extra unique flavor to the egg as far as I could tell but it was all really good. Interestingly enough, the seats downstairs were all taken and one of the people said that they had extra seating upstairs where I was shown into a sort of like storage room with no one else in it lol. It was an interesting experience but it was nice since I got to eat all by myself and I could even see out of the window a bit. All in all it was a good experience and I recommend it if you're in the area! It's really close to Minowabashi Station

Like I mentioned yesterday, I went to "Tokyo Portcity Takeshiba" over the weekend and there were a ton of restaurants. The one that I chose to eat at was a tough choice, but I ultimately settled on "Do Miso Tokyo Portcity Takeshiba" ど・みそ 東京ポートシティ竹芝店, but there was also an Okinawan-themed restaurant right next to it called "Okinawa Bar Kafu" 沖縄酒場 かふー that looked really nice as well, and smelled good. Either way from across the isle I got to eat some delicious ramen while listening to the Okinawan music which was really relaxing and created a nice atmosphere. I'm not sure what the ramen I got was called it was just the normal miso ramen from my understanding and I believe it cost ¥1100. There's another one that looks similar, has a similar name, and costs ¥1200 but that's a white miso ramen and not the one that I got. Either way, I'm sure it tastes good as well, because my ramen tasted great! I really liked that the restaurant had metal cups as well, it gives the water a different flavor and always makes it feel more refreshing too in my opinion at least. One thing I forgot to mention about the building if you open up their website, another futuristic feature you'll find is that the building actually shows the number of people in the building at any one time and also shows that percentage of male and female visitors. I thought this was really amazing. I'm not sure how it's done, but they must have censors located at the doors or in other places around the building that can analyze body structure or something similar. Either way it's a cool place!

Visited a Chinese restaurant in Akabane called Maraeki 麻辣駅, Malaeki? over the weekend and got some spicy Szechuan noodles 四川風麻辣麺. The photo looked really good and they had tan tan noodles as well but I wanted to try something different. Unfortunately, I was not the biggest fan of the flavor. I think the noodles were great, and the bok choy tasted good as well, but for me the soup wasn't exactly what I was expecting. That being said I don't think it's that the flavor was bad, just that it simply wasn't for me. I enjoy spicy ramen, and the "麻辣" part of the name is "mala," apparently a spicy, numbing sauce made of Sichuanese peppercorn, chili pepper, and other ingredients simmered in oil. I went in not knowing this and paid the price I suppose. The noodles weren't actually that spicy in my opinion, but like I said, the flavor just wasn't for me. I think for anyone who enjoys Chinese food though it's a great place as it's quite affordable and the other dishes we ordered fried rice and xiaolongbao steamed buns, although not pictured here, tasted great.

Went to a place called Menya Tenno 麺屋天王 between Oji Station, Tabata Station and Oji Station Tokyo Sakura Tram and ordered some miso ramen. Before the pandemic I went there once or twice and it was great both times, but I decided to revisit for the first time in a while. I think it was just as good or maybe even better than before, but it's definitely tasty. I remember the last time I went I ordered the standard thin noodles since that's what the stores specializes in, but this time I figured I'd try the thick noodles and see what it was like. I couldn't really compare the two since it'd been so long since I went to this ramen shop but I remember the last time tasted great and this time tasted great as well, so I don't think the thickness of the noodles changes the quality in any way. The chashu is also really good as well, I added that as a topping for ¥200. I can't remember if I ordered gyoza the last time I went, but I ordered them this time and they tasted delicious, better gyoza than most ramen restaurants I've been to in my honest opinion, and they're nice and juicy as well. I tried to take a photogenic angle of the gyoza but it was difficult with the lack of space😅. I did my best though! Anyways, it's a tasty ramen shop, so I definitely recommend it to anyone in the area!

Had a really good looking and tasting bowl of ramen in Shinjuku over the weekend and decided to take a bunch of pictures of it lol. There's so many ramen shops around Shinjuku Station that it was hard to choose where to go at first but we ended up choosing this place - Manbaken Ramen 萬馬軒. The chashu looked amazing just seeing the photos so I decided to get the miso chashu ramen with an egg topping. The ramen tasted really great and the chashu was thick, had a nice salty flavor, and the texture was really nice as well. My girlfriend ordered the spicy miso ramen and unfortunately we didn't think it tasted as good as the normal miso. It was almost like there was yuzu or sansho pepper inside of it and it gave it a strange tangy flavor that neither of us were huge fans of. I still definitely recommend the normal miso ramen though! The normal miso chashu ramen was ¥1100 and a normal bowl of miso ramen is just ¥790

Visited Fujiiya a small eatery in Kameido famous for its gyoza. It was definitely good, and they had an interesting tare for the gyoza as well. I think it had chashu inside of it and it tasted great. I threw in a little soy sauce as well but I think it's probably perfect without it. I recommend shaking the bottle before pouring it as I had a little too much oil come out instead of the actual sauce. It was also my first time getting shoyu ramen in a while. I'm usually a bigger fan of miso, probably because it feels warm and filling on cold days but is great on hot days too. That being said, I was pleasantly surprised by this shoyu ramen, was a really refreshing flavor and the noodles were perfect. The restaurant is really cheap too, I think a normal chashu ramen and 5-piece gyoza was just ¥780, which is super cheap. They also had a lot of cool photos and signatures on the wall from/with famous entertainers like "Downtown," etc. Cool place, definitely recommend it!

Went out and ate ramen over the weekend. Was the first time I've done so in a while. The restaurant was called '背油とんこつらーめん 雷門' in Monzen-nakacho I got the spicy miso ramen I don't remember the exact name, it was something special and it was really good. My girlfriend got just a standard miso and it was good as well. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be going back there because I want to try the other ramen they serve now lol. The miso that I got was more of a brown color than the usual orange that I see so I was kind of skeptical at first, but it turn out to be delicious and the chashu was really thickly cut and also tasted great. There was even an egg topping and I didn't have to pay extra for that or the chashu! I definitely recommend it to anyone that likes ramen! Other than that the whether wasn't so bad this weekend, but the leaves have started falling so we're definitely in fall at this point. It's starting to get colder outside as well. I've already starting using the heater instead of the air conditioning. Looking forward to some hot pot and oden though!

[English/Japanese] Things that Surprised International Students When They Came to Japan: Food For international students, the first problem they encounter when they arrive in Japan is food. In this article, we will introduce Japanese food. What is this? Food I saw for the first time in a Japanese supermarket 1 Mushrooms and seaweed I was once asked about mushrooms by a Mongolian student. The Mongolian diet is basically meat-based and they eat very few vegetables. Among other things, they do not have the custom of eating mushrooms and were surprised to see mushrooms for the first time in Japan. In addition to mushrooms, foreign students often ask me questions about seaweed. I taught her how to cook mushrooms and seaweed, and she lost 44 pounds in a year! Now she has confidence in herself and does selfie every day. I was attracted by the smell.... The story of gaining weight from eating too much delicious food. 1 Ramen The number one thing that male students get addicted to when they come to Japan is ramen. Seeing the lines at popular ramen restaurants, some students may say, "It's strange that Japanese people want to wait in line to eat ramen," but after six months in Japan, they are standing in line for it. There are also many students who stock a lot of cup ramen in their rooms because it is cheap and quick to eat. However, some ramen soups are made with pork or beef, so if you are not allowed to eat ramen due to religious beliefs, please ask the store owner. One of our students even called a cup ramen company to ask about it. Let's learn the kanji for "pig" and "cow" as soon as possible. 2 Bread The number one thing that female students get addicted to when they come to Japan is bread. Although Japan is famous for its rice diet, bread consumption is one of the highest in the world. In fact, there are many bakeries in the city, and many people are drawn to the smell of bread and buy it. Also, convenience stores sell a wide variety of breads, all reasonably priced in the 100 yen range! Sweet breads are especially popular among female students, and I often see them eating them for breakfast and lunch. The sweet breads are especially popular among female students, and I often see them eating them for breakfast and lunch. Too expensive to buy! Beware of vitamin deficiency 1 Fruits Students from all countries say, "Fruit is expensive! ". Because of this, students eat less fruit than they did in their home countries, and many of them catch colds or have skin problems due to vitamin deficiency. For this reason, many students ask their families in their home countries to send them vitamin supplements. Please consider supplements as part of your luggage list before you come to Japan. I hope this article will help you prepare for your arrival in Japan. By the way, our school has a supermarket within a minute's walk from the dormitory. Also, in Hachioji, where our school is located, there is the famous Hachioji Ramen and a bakery with a long line of customers. If you are ever in Hachioji, be sure to stop by! ・ 🗾Web store Hoshino 2nd time SNS→Instagram @cksb_hoshino 、Twitter。 Kiyoyu Soy Sauce Hoshino's mail order shop in Nagano Prefecture. This is the first order since the collaboration with Tsukesoba Shonen in Nagano Prefecture. I bought it at @baseec, who often uses it this time. < soba noodles 2 meal set 1900 yen, shipping not included> The set includes 2 types of noodles, soup with menma, 2 types of char siu, and noodle salt. + Ingredients are kelp water kelp + boiled and dried, trefoil 😆 I like the smooth type of kelp water more than mush, so I love Rausu kelp without using gagome or root kelp 😍. For niboshi, choose Ibuki Iriko! Prepared by draining the water from the day before. The timing of boiling two types of noodles is difficult 💦 It's ^^ nice to be able to compare thin noodles and medium thick noodles. The umami of the chicken and the crisp soy sauce are also good! It has a good balance with fat. Menma, char siu, etc. are still the best 🙋 ♂️ Thank you for the delicious feast ^ ^

🗾UNITED NOODLE Amenooto 1st time SNS→ official website, Twitter, Facebook. <お店の情報> It is located in Sano City, which is famous for Sano ramen. However, it is completely different from Sano ramen. Both the exterior and the interior of the store are very stylish. There are also counter and table seats. There is a parking lot in front of the store, but there are different places to stop on weekdays and weekends and holidays. 10 cars 25-29, 35-38 on weekdays and 15 cars 25-38 on weekends and holidays. When there is a wait, there is a waiting board in the store, so fill it out. If you write down the license plate number of the car, they will come to call you. While waiting, I look at the menu and ask for my order first. <Point> 1 Stylish shop. Both the exterior and the inside of the store are very stylish like a café. I think it could be a date or something. 2 Carefully selected menu. The kombu water dipping noodles are very famous, but there is also ramen mixed soba noodles. I also do takeaways. 3 Family fun. The restaurant is large, so you can enjoy it even with small children. < kombu water soy sauce dipped soba 900 yen and char siu 300 yen> I wanted 🤤 to try this kombu soba noodle Kombu water is made of gagome kelp, so it is a thickened type! The recommended way to eat it is to add algae salt first and eat only the noodles, so you can ^^ feel the deliciousness of the noodles. It has a good balance with the umami of the chicken and soy sauce, and there is a lot of oil. You can also add lemon to the soup and change the taste! Pork rare, boiled pork hanging char siu has an amazing 😍 flavor Thank you for the delicious feast ^ ^

🗾 Menya Tenmu 1st time SNS→ Instagram @menya.tenmu, Twitter, Ameblo. <お店の情報> A shop that has been indebted to us many times by mail order. Finally first visit to the store! This shop is very famous in the area where you like to boil and dry. There is a parking lot for about 30 cars, and there are front, side, and back of the store. The style is to buy a meal ticket first and line up. Up to 4 people in front of the store, but not in line behind the vending machine? I will line up in the direction of. Souvenirs can also be purchased. There is only a counter in the store. <Point> 1 Boiled and dried love. A restaurant that loved niboshi and was loved for niboshi. This shop is for those who like to boil and dry. 2 Popular queue shops. I visited during the day on a Sunday, so there was a decent line. It's good to have plenty of time. 3 Menu. Basically, there is only boiled dried ramen. There are various ways to use niboshi. There is no large serving, so if it is not enough, toppings, seasoning balls, and replacement balls are used. The limitations change depending on the day. < boiled dried ramen Yabanibo soy sauce 980 yen Niboshi ai 50 yen > There was a menu that I had never eaten before, but I wanted to eat this ✨ one Yabanibo soy sauce 🤣 that I ate about 5 times at home By the way, I tried topping it with boiled dried love boiled dried paste! Oh, this is what happened 😊 But after all, it is definitely better to eat at the store than at home! The amount of boiled patsun noodles and the strong boiled dried soup are unbearable 🤤. The satisfying char siu will also be delicious! If you eat it while dissolving the dried paste, the nigaegu will 🙋 ♂️ increase. Thank you for the delicious feast ^ ^

・ 🗾 Homemade noodle kuromatsu 1st time SNS→Twitter。 <お店の情報> This is the big favorite of the tour. He is trained at Kazuya in Tokyo. There is a line, so it is recommended to go early. There is no parking lot, so go to a nearby coin-operated parking lot. There is a park nearby, so I think that is a good place to use the toilet. Since it has been closed at night since November 1, 2019, the hurdles are quite high. Drink alcohol when entering the store and sit down with water by yourself. <Point> 1 Carefully selected menu. Chinese soba is made with white soy sauce and soy sauce. There are also dipped noodles with white soy sauce. The side menu includes toppings, rice, and alcoholic beverages. 2 Japan-ness. The prefectural tree of Gunma Prefecture is black pine. You can feel the love of Gunma Prefecture. The exterior, interior of the store, and BGM also have a Japan-like feel. 3 Popular stores in the queue. I arrived two hours before Sunday but there was no one. When it opened, there was a large line of about 40 people. < pine special grade Chinese soba 980 yen> For Chinese soba noodles, you can choose white soy sauce or soy sauce! It is a shochiku plum, plum is kakesoba noodles, bamboo is normal, pine is all blamed ✨. It just looks beautiful. Depending on the week, it is 🥺 thin noodles or flat noodles. When I visited, it was thin noodles! The owner is dressed like a craftsman, and he is serious when he is 😳 making it. I was doing the char siu in a low-temperature cooker like I had at home! The noodles are already beautiful when you scoop them with chopsticks. I can't 💦 do this at home. The soup is quite light, but the flavor of the chicken and seafood is amazing 🙋 ♂️. I get ^^ so sick that I want to drink it all the time. The homemade thin noodles go well with the soup again, and the moderate boiling is too 😍 delicious. Both low-temperature cooked char siu are irresistible! In particular, the chicken char siu has moderate elasticity, a flavor that fills your mouth, and the umami is too great 🐓. The wontons were meaty, and I was glad that they were covered with shiso. Also, it was 🙆 ♂️ the first time I had eaten a flavored ball soaked in alcohol. Thank you for the delicious feast ^ ^

The original Nagaoka ginger soy sauce ramen, which now has many shops in the prefecture. There are also shops outside the prefecture that serve ginger soy sauce ramen. 2 Nostalgic atmosphere. A long-established store founded in 1963. The outside and inside of the store also exude a nostalgic atmosphere. 3 Limited menu. Ramen is only ginger soy sauce ramen. There is a style that increases the amount of toppings and noodles. Except for toppings, only alcoholic beverages. It seems to go well with rice, but it is not served. < Qingdao Ramen 800 yen> Rice bowl and good ramen and good nostalgia ✨ The noodles are 175g in normal size! The flavor of ginger is addictive, and the crisp soy sauce feeling is irresistible 🤤. Homemade multi-hydrated noodles also go well with the soup. A variety of rare ingredients that you don't usually eat! It looks simple, but the rich soup with full chicken flavor is irresistible 🤤. The hand-rubbed noodles had a chewy texture, and the more I ate them, the more they intertwined 🙆 ♂️ with the soup. The large-format char siu is also soft and excellent. ・ 🗾 Homemade noodles wakaba SNS→Twitter、Facebook <お店の情報> A shop 😆 opened independently by a person who trained at Osaka's famous store Gunsei Wakaba-san is close to Ueno Park, where Iga Ueno Castle is located! There are 4 ✨ parking lots at the end of the narrow road next to the store. There is also a city hall and there is no ^.^ problem with parking lots. It is a ninja town-like store, the store, and the 🎊 toilet. You can see the menu of the day on Twitter and Facebook! A style 🙆 ♂️ where meal tickets are purchased first in the store and lined up <Point> 1 Carefully selected menu. Tsukesoba will be 🤤 the main dish Tsukesoba + boiled dried soba or white water soba noodles! There are also cold-boiled dried soba noodles for the summer season. 2 A popular store with a long line. The line is amazing with no coverage! Since it is mainly tsukesoba noodles, the rotation is not 🥺 so good. Be afraid of word of mouth. 3 Excellent cost performance. Ramen 680 yen, tsukesoba 850 yen Corporate efforts are amazing 😳 Tsukesoba has 5 slices of char siu! Special serving of < soba noodles 1050 yen and increased char siu 200 yen ✖︎3> It's overwhelmingly beautiful from the looks of art 😆. There were about 30 slices of char siu and it was 🤣 amazing. The homemade noodles made with ice water are a masterpiece. 🙋 ♂️ Even if you eat it as it is, it has a firm texture and the wheat flavor aroma is the best! The rich seafood soup has a strong knotty texture and goes well 😊 with the crispy green onions. You can eat thinly sliced rare chasiu as it is, dip it in dipping soup, or put it on rice in various ways 🎉. Thank you for the delicious feast ^ ^
