Exhibition Report: We presented new ways of living in Reihoku at the “Discover Amakusa! Amakusa Reihoku Two-Region Living Experience and Exchange Event.”

Hello everyone. This is the Amakusa Reihoku Tourist Association.
We took part in the “Discover Amakusa! Two-Region Living Experience and Exchange Event” held on Sunday, February 8th.
On the day, we met many people who live in urban areas and are highly interested in “two-region living,” maintaining a base in both city and countryside.

Booth Highlights
Under the theme “Another everyday wrapped in sea and sunset,” we introduced the town’s charms and accommodation options.
Particular interest focused on the rich natural environment, seasonal flavors that enhance daily life such as fresh seafood and citrus, and the warm, welcoming nature of the townspeople that greets first-time visitors.

Reflections on the Exchange
Two-region living offers more than lodging; it’s an experience of blending into the local everyday life.
We will continue preparing a welcoming environment that makes visitors want to say “I’m home.”

Thank you very much to everyone who stopped by our booth! All of our staff look forward to the day we can meet you in Reihoku.

【Delicious Autumn Marche】 How was your Silver Week? I enjoyed some delicious food at the Nishiokoppe Marche held at the Roadside Station "Kamu"! For two days, on September 20th and 21st, there were various food stalls and a children's festival, featuring locally grown vegetables from Nishiokoppe Village and used books for sale. The first thing I tried was tempura of yamabe and udon. The udon already had vegetable tempura on top, but adding the yamabe tempura made it even more satisfying. Then, I shared some Ezo deer balls with an acquaintance🤤 This dish contains stewed deer meat instead of octopus in takoyaki. It's a must-try for those who love flour-based foods. Next to that tent, I got souvenirs from the super ball scooping and candy fishing. At the vegetable sales booth, there were pumpkins, leeks, and many types of potatoes for sale. It was fun to imagine what they would taste like once cooked while choosing them. On the second day of the marche, the Meguru Honya Nekoze made its debut with used book sales, making it a lively autumn marche📖 Although there were times when it rained heavily, thank you to everyone who came out. We look forward to seeing you at next year's spring marche! #Nishiokoppe Village #Marche #Kamu #Roadside Station #Stalls

【⛩️Palm Gion City🧵】 Today, on August 11th, Mountain Day, the "Palm Gion City" event was held at the Gion Shrine, where a cool breeze flows through the dappled sunlight✨ Handmade creations from artists around Gokasecho and Kyoto were lined up🤩💫 Each piece, radiating warmth, was incredibly charming🥺💕 There was even an outdoor hair salon, which surprised me!✂️😳 A natural conversation blossomed between customers and artists, sharing how these creations were made, creating a warm event where time flowed slowly😌🍀

[Spring Marche 2026] How did everyone spend the Golden Week holidays? From May 2nd (Saturday) to May 4th (Monday), the Spring Nishiokoppe Marche was held at the entrance of Nishiokoppe Roadside Station "Kamu." The first day had a cloudy sky with light rain, the second day was warm and sunny, and the third day saw snow following rain. While the weather wasn't ideal for a market, many people from both inside and outside the village visited the roadside station and stopped by the marche 🙌 With the chilly temperatures, the red wine stew made with deer meat and the wild vegetable tempura udon were particularly comforting 🍜 In addition to items to eat on the spot, there were also baked goods and sweet potato snacks available for takeout, along with a children's festival booth! Looking back, the light-hearted conversations with the people I was working with made for a truly enjoyable three days. I received a lot of energy from customers saying, "It was delicious!" Let's meet again at the Autumn Marche in September!

【Window Art at Kamu】 The windows of Kamu are beautifully decorated! Using crayons that can be drawn on the window and wiped off with a wet cloth, visitors to Kamu were invited to draw again this year🖍 This time, we set a somewhat abstract theme of "Flowers and Songs." That said, the children freely draw their favorite vehicles and game characters. No matter what kind of drawings they create, when the windows are filled with art, it feels like the roadside station comes alive, bringing a smile to our faces. The windows along the corridor leading from the restroom to the hall are adorned with drawings from children and adults who visited on the first day of the market. On the Flower Park side of the hall, where the mechanical organ plays, there are wonderful paintings by local volunteers lined up. Five artists each expressed the theme in their own unique ways, and I hope many people will come to see the five painted windows together. The exhibition is scheduled to run until mid-July. Please enjoy the windows inside the building along with the Flower Park!
