Indian curry, a specialty of Obihiro and Otofuke 🍛 This time, I visited Indian Nishi 18-jo in Obihiro ✨ At this Indian branch, there’s an “egg” topping that you won’t find at other Indian locations! 🥚 The finely chopped boiled egg pairs perfectly with the rich roux! 💘 The overall richness is just right — it was so delicious I couldn’t stop eating 😋 If you love eggs, you have to try this legendary set ✨ Address: 11-30, Nishi 18-jo Kita, Obihiro, Hokkaido - In Hokkaido’s Obihiro and Otofuke, there’s a curry chain called Indian 🍛. Because it doesn’t have branches in Sapporo or other parts of Japan, it has become a local favorite. Visitors to Obihiro, Otofuke, and the Tokachi area often come to taste its curry 🤤 This introduction focuses on the Indian in Obihiro’s Nishi 18-jo, which offers a “boiled egg” add-on you won’t find elsewhere 🥚 Chopped boiled egg mixed with the rich curry makes the flavor even deeper and more harmonious — so good you can’t stop eating 😋 Be sure to come and try this dreamy curry ✨

I visited Indian Natsuzora, which opened last month at Roadside Station Otofuke Natsuzora no Furusato! I ordered the Natsuzora exclusive hamburger you can only get here. It paired a juicy patty made from a blend of "Otofuke Town Kino e-Beef" and pork with the town’s beloved curry. It was so tasty that I finished it in no time 😊 The Natsuzora shop also sells frozen curry, making it a great souvenir✨ After the meal, I had soft serve from SKYPIEA, the takeout-only shop at the same roadside station. It was a snowy, cold day, but Yotsuba soft serve is delicious anytime✨ It was a day fully satisfied by the roadside station’s gourmet offerings. ・Indian Natsuzora Hours 10:00–18:00 (Last order 17:30 ) Closed From November to March: every Monday (If Monday is a public holiday, the following day) Year-end and New Year holidays (December 31–January 3) Closed three days each in May and August and one day in November ・SKYPIEA Hours 10:00–18:00 (Last order 17:30 ) Closed From November to March: every Monday (If Monday is a public holiday, the following day) Year-end and New Year holidays (December 31–January 3) ・Roadside Station Otofuke Natsuzora no Furusato Hours 9:00–18:00 Closed From November to March: every Monday (If Monday is a public holiday, the following day) Year-end and New Year holidays (December 31–January 3) 2 Natsuzora, Otofuke Town TEL 0155-65-0822

Kominka cafe 'cafe jorro' I enjoyed pancakes and cold-brew iced coffee. Every menu item is tempting, from curry and cakes made mainly with local ingredients to dishes prepared without chemical seasonings. They use coffee beans from Morihiko in Sapporo, and both the pancakes and the coffee were absolutely delicious. The shop's atmosphere and the food were both superb.✨ Address: 1-11 Kino Shinmachi, Otofuke, Kawato-gun, Hokkaido Hours: 11:00–17:00 Closed: Sunday

One of the most important pilgrimages when you come to Hokkaido is the soup curry Soup curry is probably one of Hokkaido's unique cuisines. Today, we will visit a famous soup curry shop in Sapporo and taste the legendary Hokkaido cuisine. Most of the vegetables in the soup curry are made of root vegetables, some are roasted until rotten and some are even fried, and the rich soup and vegetables of various tastes are accompanied by different main meals, making a very layered work of art. When ordering, you can usually choose soup, spiciness and rice size. After eating Hokkaido's special food, welcome to Sapporo Kinyutei for one night in the evening~ Give yourself an unforgettable trip!

[English/Japanese] The other day I had lunch at Hokkaido Soup Curry Workshop Seven West, a three-minute walk from Nishi Hachioji Station. I chose the mild curry, but it was surprisingly spicy and offered a complex blend of spices. The best part was the bone-in chicken, cooked until it fell apart at the slightest touch of chopsticks. Most of the students enrolled at our school come from Southeast Asia. Nearly every one of their countries has a version of “curry.” When I show them how to make Japanese home-style curry, they are surprised at how different it is from what they know. They are even more amazed to learn that, within Japan, there is another style called Hokkaido curry. [Englsih/Japanese] In Hachioji City, you can enjoy cuisines from around the world. The other day, I walked five minutes from Hachioji Station to Milis, a Sri Lankan restaurant, and tried Sri Lankan home cooking. The meal was a healthy, oil-free dish of rice topped with various curries and side dishes. It blended sweet, spicy, salty, sour, and bitter flavors in a way I had never experienced before, and it was very delicious. The presentation of the plate was especially beautiful and moved me. The staff were warm and welcoming ☕️Since our school sometimes communicates with Sri Lankan agents, I plan to ask them more about Sri Lankan food next time 😊. In Hachioji City, you can try dishes from cuisines around the world. The other day, I had dal bhat at the Nepalese restaurant Naoya, a five-minute walk from school next to Hachioji Central Library. “Daal” means bean soup and “bhaat” means rice, so it’s like a Japanese set meal. Although Nepal is famous for curry, the dal bhat was not spicy at all and had a gentle flavor 😊 I was happy to finally try this dish, which a student introduced to me a few years ago ✨ For dessert, I tried ras malai (cottage cheese dumplings soaked in honey) for the first time and was surprised by how sweet it was!
