Autumn leaves in Gokasecho🍁 The autumn colors in Gokasecho have suddenly deepened over the past few days🍁 The foliage in front of Shirataki Falls in Kuraoka District is not fully colored yet, but overall the area is at peak color✨ I also visited Myoken Shrine and other spots in Kuraoka District; the maples there still need a bit more time to peak💡 Some areas will continue to change color, but how about a drive to see Gokase’s autumn leaves this weekend?😊 ⚠Notice⚠ The road to Shirataki is a forest road with poor conditions. There is little space for cars to pass. We do not recommend driving if you lack confidence, are in a large vehicle, or are driving a low-clearance car.

The program includes a classroom lecture and an observation session. Why is Teshikaga’s night sky so stunning? How should we protect and make the most of this night sky? What exactly is a meteor shower? What are tips for enjoying it? Which astronomical events should you watch for next year? This workshop is packed with answers and insights. If the sky is clear, we will go outside and observe the meteor shower. We hope you get to see bright meteors that can compete with the waning moonlight. I visited the famous Toohoku peak MtAdatara (1,700 m). I took the ropeway from Okudake Trailhead to Summit Station, passed MtYakushi (1,322 m), and reached the summit of MtAdatara. Then I was moved by the stark volcanic landscape of the explosion crater (Numanodaira Crater), continued to Mount Yahazu (1,673 m), and enjoyed the autumn colors painting the slopes of MtTetsu (1,709 m). I visited Mt. Kurikoma (elevation 1,626 m), the celebrated Tohoku peak praised as the "carpet of the gods." At the temporary shuttle bus stop, Kurihara City staff warned that "bears have been appearing on the trail for four consecutive days!" and, ringing bear bells loudly, we made the ascent. By the grace of the gods, we encountered no bears and were treated to truly stunning autumn foliage. Thank you. Location: Kurihara City, Miyagi Prefecture

Kumamoto Kikuchi Tourist Association
Nov. 2, 2025
"Mindfulness Tourism" was Held in in the Kikuchi Valleys in Kikuchi City, Kumamoto Prefecture. We delivered the "ultimate retreat" to maximize physical and mental performance in the Clear streams of Nature. A special experience that sharpens your senses while feeling the breath of Nature away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Mindfulness walking incorporating meditation and breathing exercises. I walked through the Kikuchi Valleys with the chief priest. At each Spot, they slept on the rocky ground or did Zen meditation and quietly faced Nature. In a calm atmosphere, everyone seemed to have refreshed their minds and bodies and found new awareness. Held in on the first day "Mindfulness Walking and Tea Ceremony" A tea ceremony was held in the Kikuchi Valleys by tea people. For the tea ceremony, Kikuchi Valleys's Water is used. In the quiet space of the morning, we calmed our minds and enjoyed delicious Tea quietly. On the second day, they experienced "Mindfulness Walking and Breakfast Meeting". Breakfast while feeling Nature in a dignified space in the morning. I enjoyed it calmly with a truly relaxed feeling. Water from the Kikuchi Valleys was used for cooking, and Meals using clay pot rice and Kikuchi Ingredients were served. Everyone seemed to enjoy it. By walking in touch with Nature in the morning, I was able to forget about my work worries and busyness. The taste of matcha soaked into my moderately tired body, and the sound of the Clear streams seemed to sharpen my sense of hearing and taste. Nature allowed me to meditate, and the murmur of the river and the cool air were pleasant. New Rice cooked in a clay pot and nameko soup warmed my body and soul. The food was very elaborate and really delicious and very satisfying. We received a lot of feedback. A luxurious time where you can feel Kikuchi's food, Nature, and time to face yourself with your five senses. It seems that you were able to feel that you can use the time only for yourself in Nature, where the time usually passes casually and the day ends.

【Shimanto City, Kochi Prefecture】Eat the river! Sweetfish! Eel! River shrimp! Gori! "Traditional fishing method" that is close to the Shimanto River Introducing the traditional fishing methods passed down by river fishermen in the Shimanto River. We will introduce the important culture of the river basin that is close to the river and appreciates the blessings of the river. 〇Traditional fishing method of the Shimanto River The traditional fishing method of the Shimanto River has been carefully passed down by Local river fishermen, and it continues to be a part of daily life, changing its shape little by little with changes in the environment. The bounty of the Shimanto River, such as sweetfish, eel, scampi shrimp, and aosanori, adds color to the family table every season, and is deliciously cooked by skilled chefs in Shimanto City to delight the taste buds of tourists. It is also processed in various ways and is popular as a Souvenir. 〇 Look at the river, eat the river If you take a leisurely stroll along the Shimanto River, you can see eels and scampi shrimp submerged in water from the Submersible Bridge. Depending on the season, you may meet people fishing for sweetfish in the river or fishing in riverboats. There may be a gori fishing device lined with stones on the riverbank, or the harvest of green nori is just taking place at the mouth of the river. If you take the time to look at the Shimanto River, you will encounter something "river and human activities". And at night, you can enjoy the Ingredients harvested by the contraptions you actually saw in the river at the restaurant. It is a different way to enjoy the "familiar" Shimanto River. 〇 Introduction of traditional fishing methods ・Fire fishing of sweetfish Set up nets to cross the river in advance, and wave a Bonfire from the top of the boat at night. Surprised by the raging band of flames, the sweetfish flees and is driven into the net. Nowadays, it is often done using LEDs, but the principle is a traditional fishing method that has not changed since ancient times. sweetfish are also caught in Other by various fishing methods such as casting nets and fishing. ・Scampi shrimp fishing If you look from the Submersible Bridge near the water's edge, you can see a series of PVC pipes evenly spaced. This is a fishing gear called "Korobashi" that collects scampi shrimp. In the past, it was made of wood, but over time it has changed to a Ingredients that is easier to handle. Standard scampi shrimp are brightly colored and eaten with karaage. In addition, it is useful as a Township taste, such as resembling a large raised cucumber. ・Eel fishing There are Styrofoam and plastic bottles floating in the river without streaming. This may be a landmark of Korobashi catching eels. Eels, which are sensitive to odors, do not enter resin contraptions, and wooden korobashi is still used even now. ・Gori fishing If the riverbank is lined with stones that dammed the water, it may be a gimmick for Gori's Noborio Toshiue fishing. In the Shimanto River, the juveniles of Numatitib are called "gori" and are popular as a taste of early summer from Spring. Standard is to eat it as karaage or tsukuni. 〇Things to be aware of Fishery rights are set for fishing in the Shimanto River. When fishing, it is mandatory to purchase a recreational fishing ticket. In addition, a fishing ban period has been established from the viewpoint of protecting Minamoto. Please be careful.

Sugao Cliff Buddha ❚ Oita Bungo-Ono Geopark Sugao Cliff Buddha in Mie Town, Bungo-Ono City, Oita Prefecture. Beautiful. The three-dimensional carvings such as the plump face and soft and rounded shoulders are very beautiful. Compared to the wooden Buddha statues in Kyoto and Nara, it is not so colorful, and it is very exquisitely made. The Sugao Cliff Buddha is thought to have been created at the end of the Heian period. It is carved into the molten tuff of the Aso pyroclastic flow about 90,000 years ago. It has also been designated as an "Important Cultural Property" and a "Historic Site" by the country. 【Location】466 Asase, Mie, Bungo-Ono City, Oita Prefecture About 5 minutes by Car from the Sugao Cliff Buddha is the "Roadside Station Mie" where you can overlook the "view of Enaito" There are.
