Hello 😃 This is Yamanashi Wine Kingdom Main Hall! Summer is gradually approaching. Shosenkyo Gorge, also famous as a summer retreat, is especially known for Senga Falls, a popular cool spot. The stairs leading down to Senga Falls are one of the coolest places in Shosenkyo. Please take in the view of the waterfall that opens up at the bottom of the steps. In the garden of Yamanashi Wine Kingdom Main Hall, the dogwood (yamaboshi) flowers are blooming beautifully. This year they seem to be the prettiest in the past five years. When you visit Shosenkyo, be sure to stop by Yamanashi Wine Kingdom!

Fukkoji Hydrangeas ❚ Bloom Status as of June 3, 2025 Fukkoji, located in Asaji Town, Bungo-Ono, Oita Prefecture, is famous as a hydrangea sightseeing spot. The hydrangeas are currently about 40–50% in bloom. Flowering is progressing. The plants that bloomed early are showing beautiful flowers. We will announce updates on the bloom status as they come. [Location] Kamiotsuka, Asaji Town, Bungo-Ono, Oita Prefecture [Access] About 10 minutes by car from JR Asaji Station [Parking] Available (free) [Toilets] Available ❚ Fukkoji The bas-relief Buddhist statue carved into the temple grounds, including its pedestal, stands at about 11 meters tall and is one of Japan’s largest rock-carved Buddhas. The central enormous figure is Fudo Myo-o. Fudo Myo-o typically appears in an angry form, but years of wind and rain have softened this carving into a round, gentle expression. Although it is a large Fudo Myo-o, it has a very approachable appearance. Fukkoji is also called Hydrangea Temple because so many hydrangeas are planted there. During the rainy season, you can see numerous hydrangea blooms alongside the rock-carved Buddha. The hydrangeas planted here are cared for by the temple and local residents. ■■■ Access to central Bungo-Ono City ■■■ About 3 hours by car from JR Hakata Station, Fukuoka Prefecture About 2 hours by car from JR Kumamoto Station, Kumamoto Prefecture About 1 hour 20 minutes by car from JR Beppu Station, Oita Prefecture About 1 hour 20 minutes by car from JR Yufuin Station, Oita Prefecture ■■■■■■■■■■■■ Introducing sightseeing and recommended spots in Kyushu, Bungo-Ono, Oita Prefecture ■■■■■■■■■■■■

Nagasaki Saikai City Tourism Association
Jun. 4, 2025
This is an announcement from Saikai City Tourism Association about scenic spots in Seihi, Saikai City. Saikai City in Nagasaki Prefecture faces the sea on three sides and offers breathtaking views from its hilltop parks. 1. Hachinokeyama Park Address: 1639 Hirayama-go, Seihi, Saikai City, Nagasaki Prefecture 851-3425 There are various theories about the origin of the name “Hachinengatake.” One story says eight Genji warriors who came chasing Heike fugitives took shelter from a sudden storm in a rock cave but were killed by a landslide; another says eight warriors were wrestling here. From the observation deck you can see the Ajiro Peninsula, shaped like a dragon’s head, and the islands floating in Omura Bay. From the shore outward, the islands appear in this order: Heta-Abo Island → Oki Anbo Island → Tamago Island → Yakeshima Island → Chidori Island → Dojima → Nagashima → Yahazushima Island. Legends of Heike fugitives remain on Tamago Island and Chidori Island. After the Heike defeat at the Battle of Dan-no-ura, Tamayorihime, who was the wife of Taira no Atsumori, her attendant Princess Chidori, and Tamayorihime’s wet nurse Yodo Hime are said to have fled here but been captured. The three women were reportedly separated and housed apart. A stone shrine still stands on Tamago Island, where Tamayorihime is enshrined. On Chidori Island a small natural stone carved with “Spirit of the Plovers” is said to be venerated. Also, Nagashima is known as the birthplace of round pearls. 2. Shihondo Park Address: Shirasaki-go, Seihi, Saikai City, Nagasaki Prefecture 851-3312 This park lies on the western shore of Omura Bay in Seihi. You can enjoy walking among seasonal flowers, camping, and barbecues year-round. The park has an observation deck with stunning views over Omura Bay, and playground equipment for small children. The park also contains historical sites such as Okoshikake-ishi, the stone where Fujiwara Naozumi (the ancestor of the Omura clan) is said to have landed and sat on his way to Omura, and Ochanomizu, a spring where he is said to have drawn water to offer tea, offering a tangible sense of history.

[Beware of ⚠️🦌 wild animals] Yamanouchi Town is an area with a large number of wild animals. In particular, Shiga Highlands is a habitat for antelope and deer, so you can be anywhere. It may come out suddenly while driving, so it is recommended 🦌🚗 to drive slowly at night³₃ You may be surprised to see an antelope that is more than 1 meter long, but antelopes are not animals that can harm people. Most of the time, when they see people, they go 😊 back to the mountains If you see one, keep an eye on it 🦌

Isehara Flower Report 2025.06.04 Here is the state of the hydrangeas along the Hinata no Hikagemichi (Sun-to-Shade Path). Some hydrangeas have begun to bloom, but most still lack color and there are few flowers, so the best viewing period looks to be a little further ahead. Yawamushi (mountain leeches) appear on the shaded path, so please bring salt or repellents and take precautions. When I walk around town, I see many different flowers. This time, I found a lily of the valley. Lily of the valley is one of Hokkaido’s representative flowers, and the native species reportedly grows wild in the highlands of Tohoku and Hokkaido. About a dozen small, white, bell-shaped flowers hang from a single stalk. This flower is fragrant, and after blooming it produces a spherical fruit that ripens red, but all parts of the plant are poisonous, so caution is advised. The flowering season is May to June, so I hope they will still be in bloom through the end of this month. An opening event for the Tokutoku Community Center, located next to Shintoku Station, will be held starting at 10:00 AM on Sunday, June 15. Lily-of-the-valley plants are in bloom near the Tokutoku Community Center, so if you’re interested, please come and see them while they’re at their best.🌸 Some information on lily of the valley has been quoted in part from Hokkaido's official website.

We present seven recommended ways to spend time in Shobara City, Hiroshima Prefecture. Take time to face the mountain colors, the scent of the trees, the murmur of rivers, and the voice of the wind, and cherish moments to look inward as you enjoy how to spend your time in Shobara. 1 Satoyama (Rural Mountain Landscapes) Photo 1: Rice field scenery in Mikawachi Shobara still preserves pastoral landscapes where traditional ways of life persist and many kominka, or old private houses, that retain a nostalgic charm. Seeing how people live here, you feel a surprising sense of nostalgia despite it being your first visit. 2 Healing Photo 2: Kumano Shrine Step into a mysterious shrine precinct deep in the forest, surrounded by countless cedar trees, and ancient cedars older than a thousand years will greet you. As you move forward in awed silence, the fatigue of everyday life seems to wash away little by little. 3 Oishii (Delicious Food) Photo 3: Hiba Beef gourmet Eating fresh, locally sourced ingredients in the place they were harvested is one of this town’s great pleasures. The tender meat of Shobara’s branded Hiba beef, passed down from the oldest local cattle line, paired with crisp vegetables, brings a smile the moment you take a bite. 4 Botanical (Nature and Plants) Photo 4: National Bihoku Hillside Park A blue sky and a sea of flowers feel like stepping into a storybook. The blooms’ colors enchant you and make you eager for the next season. Surrounded by sweet fragrances, let easy conversation flow. 5 Activity Photo 5: Apple picking Pluck a cluster of glossy red apples and take a big bite! The juicy sweetness fills your mouth. Enjoy the different colors and shapes of each variety, and you’ll feel like a child again—so much so you might pick more than you need. 6 Relaxation Photo 6: Staying in a kominka Gentle mountains and clear air set the scene. Sunlight streaming into your lodging slows your sense of time, and the warmth of the wooden house soothes both body and mind. 7 Adventure Photo 7: Shobara Satoyama Rafting Surrounded by vast nature, move forward while feeling the fresh air and the river’s flow. Gripping your paddle, you’ll find yourself swept up in the action. The thrill of descending the river together with everyone is unforgettable.

Fresh green at Unoko Falls 🍃 It feels like May has flown by in no time 😅 Saturday, May 31 in Gokasecho was a delightfully clear day 🌞 At this time of year, Unoko Falls has plenty of water and brilliant fresh greenery ✨ I was soothed by birdsong, the sound of the water, and the breeze 🥰 The light was just right, so I got some great photos 📷 When you walk down to the plunge pool, be careful—wet spots can be slippery, so watch your step 👣
