Famous Winter tradition in Hokkaido It is jewelry ice. Frozen ice in the Tokachi River Swept away to the sea and washed by the waves The ice washed up on the beach, Local photographer named it The season has only just begun You can enjoy it for about a month from now. Pick up a piece of ice that is in good shape. Wash with the water or hot water you brought with you Remove sand and snow to clean it Stack or stand up There are a lot of people who take pictures. Nature is what I like best.

Let’s Light Up Winter Nights Just when the cold seemed to deepen the temperature rose, leaving a strange feeling. In Nishiokoppe Village this month marks 30 years with zero traffic fatalities on the 30th. To celebrate the achievement, ice candles will be lit from Monday the 20th through Thursday the 30th, from the nursery in front of Hotel Rimu. The nights remain sharply cold, but may the sight of these lights warm your heart. #Nishiokoppe Village #Hokkaido #Hotel Rimu #Ice candle #Prayer #Traffic safety #Lights also burn in front of Satozumemu

[ Taiki Town ’s Unremarkable Scenery — Winter ] To residents it’s an ordinary view, but looking again reveals the quiet beauty of Taiki Town’s landscape! This photo shows an evening scene from mid‑January this year. There’s surprisingly little snow…! Wide skies and open land, a straight road, and neatly aligned windbreak trees are my favorite points. Find more Taiki Town tourist information here!↓ https://visit-taiki.hokkaido.jp//

Bookstall Yukimichi on the Road From neighboring Shimokawa Town with books in tow They came again this year. Yukimichi Bookstall. Curated selections around a theme are displayed at Pom. January’s theme was ecology. It’s fun to flip through the changing monthly lineup wondering which books are here today. Quietly snapping photos of people absorbed in their books. That day also featured an English picture-book reading by the ALT from Nishiokoppe Village. Next month is scheduled for February 12. The location is a bit hard to find, but it’s between the village office and Kikuchi Shop. Please drop by. #Nishiokoppe Village #Hokkaido #Yukimichi Bookstall #Shimokawa Town #Bookstore #Pop-up #Pom #Souvenir Lucky Bag #January 15 #Record #Next: February 12

This is a photo of my beloved Shiba Inu dog "Mametaro" taken in my garden. Born in Fukushima and raised in Hokkaido, he seems to love snow, and he moves quickly through places that are so deep that it is difficult for humans to walk. Mametaro's brown fur looks beautiful in the scenery that has become completely white in winter, so watching him take a walk in the snow is It is also one of my winter pleasure. In opposition to "Snow Miku", I secretly call it "Snow Mame" in my heart.

Writer Arata Iyohara was awarded the Naoki Prize. Congratulations. One of the five stories in this award-winning book, "The Sea of Indigo," is set in Shirataki, Engaru Town. In the work, the Nature of Shirataki and the harsh and long winters are beautifully depicted. Shirataki is the oldest national treasure "Hokkaido Shirataki Archaeological Site Excavation". We are delighted to receive this kind of attention again. Please read the work. *The photo is for illustrative purposes only. This is a photo of the Shirataki area, but it has nothing to do with the book. Photo 1: Tengu Taira Photo 2: Potato flowers

Jewelry Ice 2025 Jewelry Ice · Harunire Tree Adventure Experience 😊 “Jewelry Ice” refers to chunks of ice that break free from the Tokachi River, drift out to the Pacific, and wash up on the Otsu Coast at the river mouth. Their beauty as they sparkle in the sunlight is utterly mysterious ✨ Why not come see this natural phenomenon of Tokachi’s severe cold and the Tokachi River known as “Jewelry Ice”? The second photo shows the state of the Jewelry Ice from yesterday 🎵 At the rest area we offer warm drinks, shells and Jewelry Ice goods, and local seafood, so please drop by if you like 😄 This plan also includes a visit to Toyokoro’s symbolic tree, the Harunire Tree 🌳 For inquiries, contact Hokuto Taxi 🚕 ☎️0155-67-5681 (9:00–17:00)
