30-Unit Kite Flying Challenge Friday, January 24 A challenge praying for 30 years without traffic fatalities was held. Thirty kites, each hand-drawn by elementary school students from Nishiokoppe Village. It had been snowing lightly that day, but when it was time to fly the kites the snow stopped and a gentle wind picked up. The students lined up in a single row holding the kites. Starting from one end they let go in order, and after a few attempts the kites shot into the sky to cheers.
