Seiko Sawada Memorial Museum This museum gathers representative works by Seiko Sawada, a native of Atami City who received the Order of Culture. It displays art across many fields, including numerous wood carvings, paintings, ink wash works, ceramics, prints, and calligraphy. There is a popular belief that if you hold hands beneath the entrance ceiling stained glass panel "Hiten," you will remain happy forever. The reflection of "Hiten" on the red granite floor is also beautiful, so visitors can enjoy the stained glass both overhead and underfoot. ● Seiko Sawada (1894–1988) Born Toshiyoshi. An artist awarded the Order of Culture and an honorary citizen of Atami City. He grew up by the sea in Atami and, at 19, aspired to become a sculptor. I visited the Muttoni World exhibition at Yumemuseum, a 20-minute walk from Hachioji Station. This is an exhibition I love so much it was my third visit. The Muttoni World exhibition features many mechanical music boxes, each offering a five- to twenty-minute sequence. When I finished seeing everything, more than two hours had passed, and I felt as if I had been inside a dream the whole time. Seeing is believing! Admission is free for children up to junior high school, 750 yen for adults, and 350 yen for those 65 and older. Do go and see it—you’ll love it!

Chohachi developed a unique art form called shikkui kogane-e—plaster trowel paintings—that blends plastering techniques with the Kano school methods of Japanese painting, earning high artistic acclaim. Skilled plasterers from across Japan came together to create the building, which showcases traditional plastering craftsmanship. The museum won the Yoshida Isoo Award—often called the Akutagawa Prize of architecture—for its fusion of Edo-era and 21st-century design, and it has attracted attention as a world-class architectural work.

Since 1997, with the cooperation of the outbound winners from the 73rd race onward, the Hakone Ekiden Museum has exhibited the Tokyo-Hakone University Ekiden outbound victory trophies in the museum’s special exhibition space through Sunday, March 31, 2024. This year marked the 100th anniversary of the Hakone Ekiden, and both the outbound and return legs drew loud cheers from along the course. The runners’ determined efforts to win left a powerful impression. The outbound victory trophies are crafted in Hakone yosegi marquetry, a traditional Hakone craft. Artisans combine woods of different colors to create patterns, so no two pieces are identical. Each trophy is therefore a one-of-a-kind championship cup in the world. I visited the Mucha Exhibition at Yume Museum, a 15-minute walk from Hachioji Station. I visit Yume Museum several times a year, and compared with other exhibitions this Mucha show had noticeably more male visitors. Perhaps many men come to see images of beautiful women. I had seen a Mucha exhibition at another museum before; although smaller in scale, it featured many famous works and even included prints used on confectionery packaging from the period, so the collection felt very complete. I was pleased that photography was allowed inside the museum. The gift shop was well stocked, and I ended up buying quite a lot. At this Yume Museum in Hachioji, admission is free for junior high school students and younger. An annual pass costs 1,400 yen, which is a great deal. Hachioji offers abundant nature as well as shopping, and you can experience a variety of cultural attractions. Why not come to Hachioji and study Japanese?

When I saw it again the next day, they were all gone, but the impact was amazing, so I immediately tried to make it through trial and error. Yokosuka Museum of Art. It is a superb view. Large ships pass by in Tokyo Bay in front of you, and it is fun just to look at them. We had lunch at Aqua Mare, a restaurant in the museum. Very delicious.

That is one beautiful looking chandelier. I can imagine it cost quite a bit of money. Incidentally I'd never seen the kanji for Yebisu before, nor had I heard of Yebisu Garden Place. Looks like a really awesome place to go for dinner or lunch as it has some nice restaurants and cafes both high-class and reasonably priced which is nice. Probably be nice to go for a date actually. Do some shopping and then stop by for dinner or even just go for lunch and then walk around the area and see everything there is. I guess there's an art museum and a theatre as well, so yeah this place is like a 10/10 for going on dates probably lol. I'd like to check out the beer museum personally sounds pretty interesting and you can get samples too if you pay a small fee it looks like
