What is the heartwarming fall experience “Choudo Gari”? 💛 The highlight of the autumn outing season, Hirata Sightseeing Farm’s “Choudo Gari,” is a fruit-picking style where you exchange a ticket for the fruit of your choice. ♪ The key point is that you can take your time and enjoy fruit picking with no time limit. 🍇✨ At reception you receive a three-item set: ・a paper bag ・a ticket ・a farm map ! The farm map shows which fruits are available to harvest that day and how many tickets each requires, so head to the area that interests you. Harvesting scissors ✂️ and the like are provided at the entrance to each area, so you can come empty-handed. Staff will let fruits ripen to the perfect eating point, and you can eat chilled fruit right on the spot. 🍑 *On this visit we enjoyed a super-chilled peach♪* With so many fruits to harvest, it’s hard to decide which to pick! You can harvest Pione grapes and Shine Muscat, both specialties of Miyoshi. ✨ noqoo Labo’s seasonal fruit parfaits, and the old-merchant-house cafe noqoo’s noqoo burger and fruit curry, which make abundant use of orchard fruit, are also very popular. 🍔✨ You can feed snacks to cows and goats, take a break in the cafe, and relax in nature. This autumn, why not fully enjoy fruit picking at Hirata Sightseeing Farm in Miyoshi? (“Choudo Gari” runs until early November.) 🏠 Hirata Sightseeing Farm Address: 1740-3 Ueda-cho, Miyoshi City, Hiroshima Prefecture Phone: 0824-69-2346 Hours: 10:00–17:00 *Early opening*: From September 13 to October 19 the farm opens one hour earlier (from 9:00). Closed: March–November on Wednesdays and Thursdays; December–February on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays IG: https://www.instagram.com/hirata.farm/... *For business days and other details, please see Instagram.* This time, Natalie, who has been working at Miyoshi DMO as an international exchange staff member since July, experienced “Choudo Gari.” ☺️✨

Gion Shrine Autumn Festival "Okunchi Festival" On October 9th, the Gion Shrine autumn festival "Okunchi Festival" took place in Kuraoka ⛩ It was held under a clear, slightly warm sky 🌞 Traditional performing arts were presented, including a kagura dedication, the Usu-daiko drum dance, and yamabushi dialogue rituals ✨ The Usu-daiko drum dance welcomed walk-in participants, and many people joined in 😊 Watching participants from inside and outside the prefecture join local residents to form a circle and perform the same dance is moving every time I experience it 😭 And this year saw the revival of the "Negai-kake Kagura" (wish-offering kagura) 👹 The powerful yet solemn dance, carrying on the original custom called the "Festival of Wish Fulfillment," stirred my heart 💖 Having kagura performed to make a wish is such a wonderful tradition ✨ Everyone, please come to Gokase’s autumn festival next year! Walk-in participation is very welcome 🙌

Amakusa West Coast 🍁 Autumn Kiln Tour — Introducing Participating Kilns / 06 Takahama-yaki Juho-gama

The 36th Amakusa West Coast Autumn Kiln Tour will take place over five days from Thursday, October 9 to Monday, October 13 (a public holiday), with six kilns in Reihoku and Amakusa City serving as venues. 😊
During the event, new works will be exhibited and sold, and special discount sales will take place, so please take this opportunity to visit and enjoy Amakusa ceramics and the scenery of the Amakusa West Coast. 🌊🌅
(Note: Tenjiku Gama will not participate. 🙇‍♀️🙇)

🍁🍁🍁

Introducing the participating kilns /

Heading south along the Amakusa West Coast brings you to the Takahama area. Takahama-yaki Juho-gama is a kiln that forms part of the Ueda family’s history; the Ueda family served for generations as village headmen in this area.

In the Meiji era, grape cultivation thrived in the Takahama district, and the area became widely known for “Takahama grapes.” The town was once described as being covered in vines. Though grape growing faced extinction at one point, the local promotion association’s efforts revived it, and you can now see grape trellises across the region.

Takahama-yaki Juho-gama is well known for its mirumon (seaweed motif), but the kiln’s painted grape designs also keep Takahama’s history alive. By the time the Autumn Kiln Tour takes place, the grape harvest will already be over, but it is delightful to reflect on the area’s past while admiring the grape motifs on the pottery.

From Thursday, October 9 to Sunday, October 12 during the event, Ueda Family House, adjacent to Juho-gama, will host a workshop by illustrator Yoko Koda, along with food and craft stalls. Please see the posted images for details.

Izayoi 🌕 October 6 was the harvest moon, and October 7 was izayoi (the sixteenth night) 🌕 I just learned that “十六夜” can be read as “izayoi” 😲 It’s my first time knowing that 😅 On both nights the bright moon lit up the sky😍 These photos were taken on the night of the 7th 📷 You can see my trials to capture the moon’s surface in shots four and five 😅 I stitched together moments between clouds and kept adjusting the camera, and somehow managed to take a beautiful shot 😆 Can you see the rabbit? 🐇 Maybe my camera skills have improved just a little bit 😂

Blue Clear Stream Festival In Nishiokoppe Village a support facility for people with disabilities called Seiryuu no Sato. For the first time since the Reiwa era began the Seiryuu Festival, open to the general public, was held! Facility users and staff wore matching blue T-shirts, so whether you looked at the sky or at people, it was blue, blue, blue. Fourteen food and craft stalls lined the venue, and the crowd swelled just from the vendors gathering. At the booth where I was helping, 100 servings of udon and soba sold out in just over an hour after the festival began. Our neighbor’s stall (Koei beef bowls and curry!) also sold out around the same time, which made me realize how many people had come. On stage, a spade shamisen performance, bingo, and acts by facility users livened up the event. At the end, many people were handed spades and each swayed to the rhythm or danced through the venue as they liked. Under a clear autumn sky, it was a day that left us feeling very energized. #Nishiokoppe Village #Hokkaido #Seiryuu no Sato #Welfare facility #Seiryuu Festival #Spade shamisen
