This time, we will introduce "Amagisan Tunnel (former Amagi Tunnel, Amagi Sanzuido)". Mt. Amagi, which separates the north and south of the Izu Peninsula, was a major obstacle to transportation. Therefore, a total construction cost of 103,016 yen 44 sen 1 厎 was spent, which was a large amount at that time, and it was opened in Meiji 38 (1905) as a tunnel connecting Izu City (former Amagi Yugashima Town) and Kawazu Town. With the completion of this tunnel, the difficult point of crossing Amagi has been resolved. Today, it is one of the famous places of the Odoriko Trail, and was designated as a national important cultural property for the first time in 2001 (Heisei 13) as the longest and oldest stone road in Japan with a width of 4.12 m and a length of 445.5 m.
