The Cherry Blossom Dragon at Kofun Shrine This shrine is located deep within the forests of Kanuma City, Tochigi Prefecture. The enshrined deities are Yamato Takeru and the very rare god of fire prevention, known as tengu. Tengu is a sacred deity who manipulates fire and protects humanity from disasters. The garden within this expansive shrine grounds is known as a power spot, and on this day, I was able to capture the nearly full-blooming weeping cherry blossom tree dragon. With antlers resembling a dragon, it truly embodies the appearance of a divine messenger. 💖

Toyama Castle Park is widely regarded as one of Japan’s most picturesque locations for enjoying cherry blossoms, blending natural beauty with deep historical significance. The park surrounds Toyama Castle, whose origins date back to the Sengoku period, when it functioned as a strategic stronghold under regional rulers. Although the original castle was lost to time, the present structure symbolizes Toyama’s feudal heritage and now serves as a cultural landmark within the city. The cherry‑blossom experience becomes especially memorable when viewed from a quiet, slow‑moving boat gliding along the castle moat. From this serene vantage point, visitors can fully appreciate the delicate fragrance of the blossoms, while petals occasionally drift down and gently settle around them. This harmony of history, landscape, and sensory richness creates a tranquil atmosphere that offers a timeless and deeply rewarding hanami experience.

At Hakojima Retarding Basin, cherry blossoms were in full bloom, spreading their branches wide by the pond, while rapeseed flowers bloomed at our feet. In the calm, windless moments, the spring scenery gently reflected on the water's surface, allowing us to feel both the tranquility and vibrancy unique to spring in Japan. The combination of the pale pink of the cherry blossoms and the vivid yellow of the rapeseed flowers was striking, inspiring me to capture the beauty of this season when nature awakens all at once.

The Silence of the Wind West Park, Fukuoka. There was something resembling a handwashing station near the bench at the top. Rainwater that had fallen earlier had collected there, and beautiful cherry blossoms floated on top. When I leaned in to take a closer look, I could see the cherry tree reflected before its petals fell. This mountaintop park, overlooking the sea, had strong winds, and I took several shots waiting for the water to settle, this being one of them.
