My home is at the foot of Mt. Yotei in Hokkaido! In each of the four seasons, I am ^^ raising my daughter while looking at the beautiful scenery. The seeds of my home cosmos that I planted last year spilled out and bloomed vigorously this year as well! My daughter and I were ^^ impressed, saying, "Plants are amazing!"

Guided stroll through the Flower Park Roadside Station Nishiokoppe Kamu features an attached Flower Park. On Saturday, September 23, we held an event in which participants explored the grounds with a gardener guide. This event has run for about five years, and this year’s edition invited visitors to enjoy the autumn natural garden. Autumn blooms such as asters, persicaria, and fujibakama (Eupatorium) add color to the park. It’s not only the flowers—apparently the trees and shrubs are grown with great care, and spots where grasses of different hues stand side by side are especially striking. I was surprised that about three people maintain the large Flower Park, and I’m excited to see how the plants planted in recent years will look five or ten years from now. The Flower Park remains open through October. Why not come and relax among the plants as you refresh from your travels?

🍁Taiki Town's Recommended Autumn Spots🍁 When it comes to places to feel autumn in Taiki Town, the stunning autumn leaves at Sakashita Senkyo stand out. It's tucked away a bit, so here are directions on how to get there! 1. On the Shimizu–Taiki Line (Hokkaido Route 55), you'll see a sign on the right if you come from Kamifutsunai, and on the left if you come from Taiki. Follow the arrow and turn. (Photo 2) 2. You will see the orange bridge “Bikei Bridge” ahead; continue across it. (Photo 3) 3. The paved road changes to gravel along the way. Keep going and you will pass the orange bridge “Sakashita Ohashi.” (Photo 4) 4. After passing another gray bridge you will spot a dairy farm. Go past the farm a short distance until the road splits left and right, then follow the left sign. The sign reads “Rekifune River Tributary Forest Road,” and this is where the forest road begins. (Photos 5–6) 5. Continue along the forest road for a while. Some sections get muddy after rain and fallen branches may block the way, so proceed slowly. (Photo 7) 6. You will arrive at Higata Bridge, which spans Sakashita Senkyo. (Photo 8) There is a small space on the right after crossing the bridge where you can park or make a U-turn. Green Woodwork Workshop Trees and forests are close at hand, yet people often have few chances to touch wood. In this workshop, you can use fresh-cut wood to make a spoon, a butter knife, or a small dish. Why not carve wood with your own hands and create a small item? [Autumn Marche Held] The Autumn Marche took place over two days on September 17th and 18th. A tent stood at the entrance of Roadside Station Nishiokoppe Kamu, featuring chiffon cakes, Ezo deer meatballs, a flea market, and stalls selling Nishiokoppe-produced vegetables. Children from the elementary school prepared a lottery for kids and a popular "candy fishing" game where sweets were attached to magnets, which seemed to be a big hit! I couldn’t join this time, so I’m already looking forward to next year’s marche.

Shrine Festival A shrine festival giving thanks for the autumn harvest was held recently. The Kamiokoppe area held its festival on September 7, and Nishiokoppe held theirs on September 11. In the mornings, lanterns hung from the streetlights and other decorations fluttered in the breeze. The mikoshi procession featured blue and orange happi coats, colorful banners and fans carried by elementary and middle school students, and the bright costumes of the o-chigo children. From preschoolers to adults, people of many generations living in the village formed a line and paraded through the town for about two hours. A lion dance performed by five middle school students was also splendid. There were so many shutter moments that my photo folder is full.

　Today, the unveiling ceremony of "Gundam Manhole" was held at the Engaru Town Arts and Culture Exchange Plaza Metro Plaza. Engaru Town was realized when I applied for a project that BANDAI NAMCO is doing. And Engaru Town is the birthplace of Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, who was in charge of character design for Mobile Suit Gundam, and has a big connection to Mobile Suit Gundam. This time, two items were donated: "Ganbo Iwa" and "Zaku and Roadside Station Okhotsk Activities in Engaru Forest". 　"Gundam Manhole" will be on display at Metro Plaza until October 1, after which it will be installed in Metro Plaza and Okhotsk in Roadside Station Engaru Forest. 　When you come to Engaru Town, please come and see it!

You cross a small stream and push through the grass as you go. The rock color differs here, and the waterfall’s shape is somewhat different from the other two, making it well worth seeing. If you sit quietly listening to the water, hours can pass in an instant, but we didn’t linger long—about ten minutes—because of the chance of encountering bears.
