[Ice Tunnel Open Again This Year!] Has June always been this hot? June, which seems to get hotter every year, has rushed by and the ice tunnel opening day is nearly here. 🕙️ 🕑️ The event runs on Sunday, July 13, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. 🥾💦🥾💦🥾 The area around the ice tunnel is muddy underfoot, so we recommend wearing rubber boots. 🚌 🚌 🚌 To reach the ice tunnel, drive to Wenshiri Campground or use the single shuttle bus that runs from the town center. Shuttle bus times are as follows: Outbound Around 10:00 Kamikoppe Bus Stop Around 10:10 Nishiokoppe Bus Stop Around 10:15 Hotel Morimu Around 10:35 Ice Tunnel Return Around 11:30 Ice Tunnel Around 11:50 Hotel Morimu, Nishiokoppe Bus Stop Around 12:00 Kamikoppe Bus Stop You can watch a route video from Nishiokoppe town to the venue via the QR code in the second image. Drivers should check that video as well. Come cool off near the ice! For inquiries contact Nishiokoppe Village Chamber of Commerce. Mountain climbing information *The two photos show a panoramic view of Minami Numa Camping Area and the snowfield conditions at Komadorizawa. Information received from nicoro trek. For detailed mountain-climbing information, contact: 070-9157-8818 *This number may be unreachable while you are on the mountain. [Mt. Tomuraushi] ・Vehicles can reach the shortened trailhead (8 km, 30 minutes by car from Tomuraushi Onsen Higashi Daisetsuso) ・Snowfields on the trail are melting and thinning; take care to avoid injuries from breaking through them. ・Grass mowing and maintenance are usually carried out in early July. ・The snowfield at the Minami Numa Camping Area tent site has almost disappeared. △Water source information△ Water sources at the designated camping areas throughout Daisetsuzan to the Tokachi range are available for use. ! Caution! Bring a portable toilet to Mt. Tomuraushi. Two portable-toilet booths are installed at Minami Numa Camping Area and one at the Komadorizawa junction. Portable toilets are sold at the shortened trailhead, Higashi Daisetsuso, Seven-Eleven Shintoku store, Seicomart Kuttari store, and other locations. [Tokachi-dake Shintoku Course] ・The forest road to the trailhead is now passable, but road conditions are poor and there is no cellular coverage. We recommend carrying equipment to handle trouble such as punctures. ・The trail has not been maintained for several years and requires route-finding and bushwhacking, so it is suitable for experienced climbers only. [Mt. Sahoro] ・Access is possible from the Karikachi Pass trailhead; parking is available. ・Residual snow on the trail has disappeared. ・Trail mowing has been completed, but sections where sasa bamboo overhangs remain; beware of ticks. ・A mountain hut is available at the summit without reservation. There is no toilet, so bring a portable toilet. [Mt. Odasshu] ・Due to four-lane highway construction, the usual parking area is unavailable (available on Sundays). Please use the open space beside the trailhead located beyond the overpass. ・Grass along the trail has grown, increasing the risk of ticks; take insect-repellent measures. Plan your climb based on the weather, your physical condition, and fitness so you can enjoy a safe ascent.

Tokachigawa Onsen district has welcomed its fifth winery in the area, Tokachigaoka Winery, which opened on April 18th. Each grape cluster is tended carefully over time, grown organically while daily efforts keep pests under control. Basked in sunlight, the grapes develop high sugar levels and a perfect balance of acidity. Inside the shop, paid tastings of Otopuke Roman are available (with cheese snacks), so be sure to give them a try.😊 We also sell cheeses that pair well with wine, Aizawa Winery’s Sacherella and Ryunosuke, Memuro Winery’s Yorokobu, Tokachi Wine’s Jewel of Tokachi, and Tokachi Makiba no Ie Winery’s Yusui. Please stop by when you visit Tokachigawa Onsen.🤗 ● Access: about 20 minutes by car from Obihiro Station About 30 minutes by bus from Obihiro Station Bus Terminal (get off at Michi-no-Eki Garden Spa and walk about 5 minutes) ● Inquiries: Tokachigaoka Winery TEL: 0155-67-1981

Secret Garden Starting from Shintoku Station, if you head toward Shintoku Hireya, you come upon a lovely garden. This is a private residence, but the owners said, “We want not only the people of Shintoku but many others to come and see it,” so I paid a visit. The garden is full of the owner’s love for flowers, affection for Shintoku, and memories of a loved one. However, a while ago some rose saplings were dug up and stolen, which was very sad. They may have been plants tended with great care, and above all they may have held deep sentiment. I don’t think anyone who reads this post and comes by would do anything hurtful, but since this is a private home, please view the garden respectfully. If the owner or the gardener is working in the yard, say hello and they may show you their lovely inner garden. If no one is there, please enjoy looking into the inner garden from the outside. If the owner is present, they might tell you the origins of the flower names or share stories about them.💁‍♀️ I hope that when you visit, you’ll get to meet the owner! #Hokkaido #Tokachi #Shintoku Town #shintoku #Shintoku Town Tourism Association #Shintoku Station #Secret Garden #secretgarden #Rose Garden #In Full Bloom #Currently in Bloom #Station-front Complex Tokutoku #tuktuk #tokutoku #hokkaido #hokkaidotrip #hokkaidotourism #tourism #tokachi #shintoku #welcomeshintoku #discovershintoku

Climbing hydrangeas in bloom at Karikachi Kogen Park From mid-June to early July, an estimated several hundred climbing hydrangea plants wind around the larch plantation trees in Karikachi Kogen Park, creating a beautiful sight. The cream-colored flowers, about 5 mm in size, bloom in clusters, making the larch trees look as if they are wearing dresses. The usual peak season is early to mid-July, but the warm temperatures likely caused them to bloom all at once this year. Bicycle rentals are available at the Shintoku Town Tourism Association counter on the 2nd floor of the Shintoku Station Community Center "Tokutoku." The ride from "Tokutoku" to Karikachi Kogen Park is about 10 km (approx. 40 minutes). From SL Square, take the Poppo Road — it's a steady uphill all the way to Karikachi Kogen Park, but on the return you'll enjoy a fast downhill ride with the wind at your back 🚲 For those who are reasonably fit and want to enjoy active, slightly adventurous sightseeing, please use our rental bikes. Our Village Beautification Project Saturday, June 14 We carried out our annual Our Village Beautification Project. Everyone from local businesses to nursery children and adults planted marigold seedlings along the roadside. About an hour before the meeting a heavy rain shower passed, and after it stopped the temperature and humidity gradually rose, so it was the kind of day when you worked up a sweat. Some people dug holes, some placed pots, and some buried the seedlings… we divided the tasks and diligently planted flowers in our assigned areas. Under the flag celebrating the village's 100th anniversary, neatly planted marigolds and pansies are once again brightening the road this year. May they grow tall and strong. #Nishiwakkanai Village #Hokkaido #Our Village Beautification Project #Flower Planting #Marigolds #Pansies #June 14 #Flowers #Nature #Setoushi-kun Polo Shirt

Planting in a Large Pot In Nishiokoppe, Sato Yuka of onesmanorgarden, who has become a familiar face here, was invited as the instructor for a container-planting workshop! This time, the plan was to display the arrangements at village facilities, so we planted as many as 15 kinds of flowers and foliage in a large pot. Unlike the gathering-style design we learned last year, container planting simply involves removing plants from their pots, arranging them in the planter, leveling the soil, and the arrangement is finished in no time. Before taking them out of their pots, we first laid them out to expand our ideas. Because the pot has a pattern, we imagined which side might be the front and how to make the arrangement attractive from every angle, then decided on the placement. Once the image was clear, we planted from the center outward and built the surrounding heights to match. If the soil surface is not even, water will collect in the low spots when you water, or so we were told. As I planted each one, I filled gaps with soil as needed and continued working. Experienced participants, even with large pots, finished their arrangements in about 30 minutes with a flurry of activity. (Too fast…!) The finished pots are installed in both Kamiokoppe and Nishiokoppe. Although each pot used the same materials, individual personalities shine through, so it might be fun to compare them. #Nishiokoppe Village #Hokkaido #Container-Planting Workshop #Village in Full Bloom #Kamu #Flower Park #Flowers #Nature
