Oga Sanzan and the Terraced Rice Paddies of Anzenji, Akita
This photo seems to have been taken from Namahage Bridge located on the Namahage Line. This breathtaking landscape photo shows the terraced rice fields of various shapes and sizes, dyed in autumn colors against the backdrop of the Oga Sanzan, the three iconic mountains of the Oga Peninsula in Akita Prefecture. The river running through the middle and the soft sunlight create a striking photo. We have selected this beautiful, idyllic photo as the Grand Prize winner.

Four Seasons Garden, Fantasy Road
The movie "Fullmetal Alchemist" was filmed between the spring and summer seasons, and this road was used as a filming location. Surrounded by cypresses dyed in orange, it has a completely different atmosphere in autumn. The girl standing alone in the center with her back to the viewer makes it look like a movie poster. We have selected this photo as an honorable mention.

Akiyoshidai at Sunset in Autumn
Located in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Akiyoshidai is one of the largest karst plateaus in Japan. In the spring, the controlled mountain burnings turn the land black, in the summer, the land is bright green, and in autumn, the land is dyed gold. The white limestone rocks, surrounded by fields of silver grass, and the mountains in the distance convey a wonderful sense of grandeur.

Three Million Spider Lilies on the Yakachi River Bank
The Yakachi River in Handa City, Aichi Prefecture, is a spectacular sight to behold in late September. Captured during a moment of clear skies, the delicate shapes of the spider lilies and the light shining through the autumn clouds make this a fantastic shot. The surrounding area is a seasonal spectacle of rape blossoms, cosmos, and other flowers.

The Autumn Festival at Kameyama Shrine in Hiroshima
The "Yabu" (demon) in the center of the photo is said to be a messenger of the gods, and his role is to poke the rice bales dedicated to the gods with a bamboo stick to make sure that there are no strange objects in them. The way he stands with both hands on the bamboo stick, you can feel his presence as a guardian of the gods. We have selected this photo as an honorable mention.

Fallen Leaves and Hokkaido's Ezo Squirrels
Ezo squirrels, which can only be found in Hokkaido, are about the size of kittens, with a length of 22 to 27 cm. Is this one searching for food to survive the winter? Or perhaps it's just running about? This is a charming shot that will have you smiling before you realize it. Timing is important when photographing these dexterous squirrels.
