Greetings

Thank you very much for your amazing entries in the 9th COOL JAPAN VIDEOS Photo Contest - Japanese Events.

In Japan, there are many events that have been handed down for generations.
We had a lot of fun selecting the winning photos, as there were many unfamiliar events and festivals that we were not familiar with.
We hope that this photo contest allowed more people to learn about the charms of Japanese events and festivals.

We will continue to hold the COOL JAPAN VIDEOS photo contest on a regular basis.
We hope that by posting information about Japan, more and more people will learn about its charms and come to visit Japan someday.

Thank you for your continued support of COOL JAPAN VIDEOS.

In Japan, "Setsubun" is celebrated every year on February 3 and involves people throwing lucky beans while shouting "Oni wa soto, fuku wa uchi!" ("Demons out, fortune in!").
Since it was believed that demons would appear at the change of seasons, this event began as an exorcism to drive away evil spirits.

We have selected this traditional Japanese event, which is still observed today and passed down from generation to generation, as an honorable mention.

A bridal procession, pictured here, is a ceremony in which the bride and groom and their relatives form a procession and walk slowly to the venue where the wedding will take place.
Although rarely seen today, it was a common and happy sight in the past.
We selected this photo as an honorable mention as it shows a bride dressed in beautiful traditional wedding attire walking gracefully, sharing her happiness with her family and friends.
