Oi Shrine is the water god of the Oi River, and there is a kami pond with clear water in its precincts, and the pure water from an old well flows into the precincts. The water temperature is almost constant all year round, so it feels cold in summer and warm in winter. The first pond was built in the precincts of the shrine in 1915, about 100 years ago, to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the relocation of Oi Shrine to the land of Shimada, and was built around the current parking lot on the side of the shrine office by the services of the veterans at that time. The current pond was moved to the center of the precincts in 1985 during the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of Emperor Showa's accession to the throne, and it is more magnificent in size and scenery than the previous pond. Now it is indispensable in the precincts, and it is a beautiful water scenery of the water god.

Today, we held the Chongyang Festival, Healing of Sickness and Health Prayer Festival. Odd numbers are Yang numbers, and the Chongyang Festival, which means that the maximum value of 9 overlaps, is the last of the five verses and is considered a day to celebrate longevity. It is also known as "Chrysanthemum Festival", but since chrysanthemums are used as medicinal herbs and are said to be beneficial for health and longevity, there was a custom of decorating and celebrating chrysanthemum flowers during the festival of Chongyang. At this shrine every year, only on this day, the sacred treasure "Enku Buddha" is open to the public. It is a Buddha statue carved by a monk called Enku, and since the Enku Buddha of this shrine is a medicine master Buddha holding a medicine urn in his hand, it is now open to the public on the day of celebration of health and longevity. Since this year was the first year after the Coronavirus pandemic, many people attended and performed the ritual.

Omihachiman / Shiga Omihachiman / Shiga Although it was not that far away, for some reason I had not visited Omihachiman. When I went there, I was so attracted by the beautiful cityscape and river that I wondered why I hadn't been there before. The cloudy sky finally cleared up, and it was a very good memory. Everyone! Omihachiman is not so far away, but for some reason I had not visited there before. When I finally went there, I was so charmed by the beautiful cityscape and the river that I wondered why I had never been there before. The cloudy sky cleared up at the end of the tour, and it became a very good memory for me. I hope you will visit there, too!
