Event Announcement📣 On July 19 (Sunday), the 15th Furusato Ginga Line Rikubetsu Railway Festival will be held😊 For nearly 100 years since 1910, this public railway has been running through Rikubetsu Town. After its closure in 2006, it was reborn in April 2008 as a tourist facility where visitors can experience actual train operations! To promote this historic "Rikubetsu Railway" and encourage more people to ride and experience it, we are hosting this event🎵 On the evening of July 18, about 2,000 fireworks will light up the summer night sky🎆 In conjunction with this, a special fireworks train will be operated, allowing passengers to enjoy the fireworks from inside the diesel train!! Passengers will receive local specialty products from Rikubetsu Town as a gift. On July 19 (Sunday), the 15th Furusato Ginga Line Rikubetsu Railway Festival will be held😊

7/19（日）「第15回ふるさと銀河線りくべつ鉄道まつり」が開催😊

明治43年から約100年、陸別町を走り続けた公共鉄道。平成18年の廃止から2年の時を経て、平成20年4月に実際に運転体験ができる観光施設「ふるさと銀河線りくべつ鉄道」へと生まれ変わりました！
この歴史ある「りくべつ鉄道」を盛り上げ、より多くの皆様に乗車・体験していただきたいため、イベントを開催しています🎵

7/18の前夜祭では、夏の夜空を鮮やかに彩る約2,000発の花火が打ち上げられます🎆
これに合わせて、気動車の車内から花火を鑑賞できる花火列車を特別に運行!!
ご乗車の方には陸別町特産品をプレゼントいたします。現在、ご予約受付中です🚂
（※花火列車→定員32名、1,500円）

さらに、会場では大道芸のステージショーやバックヤードミュージックによる演奏会も開催予定です‼

7/19のステージイベントでは、吉本興業の人気芸人「スリムクラブと電人バンド」をゲストに迎え、お笑いステージを開催いたします。

Visiting Ichinomiya-ji in Kagawa Prefecture during the summer, aside from the usual pilgrimage, what I look forward to the most is the traditional summer event, the "Cucumber Blessing." As I step into the quaint temple, the first thing that catches my eye is the neatly arranged boxes of vibrant green cucumbers. Each cucumber is tied with a wish paper bearing the names and ailments of the devotees, creating a scene that is both novel and filled with a sense of sacred ritual. People firmly believe that through the master's spiritual power, they can temporarily entrust their internal pains and misfortunes to the cucumbers. Standing in front of the master's hall, I watch the devotees earnestly writing their wishes, with the rising incense and the deep, resonant chanting filling the air, even the summer cicadas seem to quiet down in this moment. The serene energy makes one naturally calm, and I silently pray for health and peace for myself and my family with my hands together. After the ceremony, these cucumbers, which carry the ailments of many, will remain at the temple, where they will be collectively buried in the Cucumber Mound. As the cucumbers naturally decay in the soil, the tormenting pains and misfortunes will also fade away into the earth. This seemingly simple tradition is wrapped in the most sincere and profound hopes of people for their health. For me, the Cucumber Blessing at Ichinomiya-ji is not just a special travel experience; it is a summer memory intertwined with the warm humanity and ancient beliefs of Shikoku.

夏天造訪香川縣的「一宮寺」，除了例行的遍路參拜，我最期待的，莫過於盛夏限定的傳統法會，「黃瓜加持」。

一走進古樸的寺院，首先映入眼簾的便是成箱整齊排列的翠綠黃瓜。每根黃瓜上都繫著寫有信眾姓名與病痛的祈願紙，畫面既新奇，又充滿著神聖的儀式感。人們深信，透過大師的法力加持，能將體內的病痛與厄運暫時寄託於黃瓜之中。

我站在大師堂前，看著信眾們神色虔誠地寫下祈願，耳畔是裊裊上升的線香與渾厚低沉的誦經聲，連盛夏的蟬鳴彷彿也在這瞬間安靜了下來。那股安寧的力量，讓人不由自主地沉靜，我也在心中默默為自己與家人合十，祈求健康平安。

儀式結束後，這些承載了眾人病痛的黃瓜會留在寺院，由寺方統一埋入黃瓜塚。隨著黃瓜在泥土中自然腐爛，那些折磨人的病痛與厄運也將隨之消逝於天地間。這項看似質樸的傳統，包裹著的卻是人們對健康最真摯、最深切的期盼。

對我而言，一宮寺的黃瓜加持不只是一次特別的旅人體驗，更是一段融入了四國溫暖人情與古老信仰的夏日回憶。

🌊 A Day to Become a Diver in the Sea of Japan Leaving the bustling streets of Tokyo, we head to Nishi-Izu. This time, we visit Shizura, where a quiet sea stretches out. The sky was cloudy, but the temperature was pleasant for spending time by the sea. As we gazed at the calm waters, our first steps toward becoming divers began. This time, the participants are all aiming to obtain their diving licenses for the first time. 🤿 Preparation Before Entering the Water Diving starts before entering the water. First, we prepare equipment like tanks and regulators. Listening to the instructor's explanations, we assemble each piece with our own hands. At first, the unfamiliar equipment feels daunting. However, after practicing several times while checking the order, we gradually start to understand how it works. Once preparations are complete, we have a briefing in front of the sea. We all review what we will do underwater, the conditions of the sea that day, and points for safe enjoyment. 🫧 The World Underwater, Breathing for the First Time With our gear on, we finally head into the sea. First, we adjust our breathing at the surface. Feeling a bit nervous with the unfamiliar equipment, we slowly make our way into the water. Once submerged, the surrounding sounds become quiet. 🌊 日本の海で、ダイバーになる一日

東京のにぎやかな街を離れ、西伊豆へ。
今回訪れたのは、静かな海が広がる静浦です。

空は曇っていましたが、海辺で過ごすには心地よい気温。穏やかな海を眺めながら、ダイバーへの第一歩が始まりました。

今回参加したのは、初めてダイビングライセンスの取得を目指す皆さんです。

🤿 海に入る前の準備から

ダイビングは、海に入る前から始まります。
まずは、タンクや呼吸器などの器材を準備します。
インストラクターの説明を聞きながら、一つずつ自分の手で組み立てていきます。

初めは見慣れない器材ばかり。
それでも順番を確認しながら何度か練習すると、少しずつ仕組みが分かってきます。

準備が終わったら、海の前でブリーフィング。
水中で行うことや、その日の海の様子、安全に楽しむためのポイントを全員で確認します。

🫧 初めて呼吸する水中の世界

器材を背負い、いよいよ海へ。

まずは水面で呼吸を整えます。慣れない器材に少し緊張しながら、ゆっくりと海の中へ進みます。

水中に入ると、周囲の音が静かになります。
目の前を魚が泳ぎ、海底には岩や砂地が広がっています。陸上とはまったく違う景色です。

最初は呼吸や姿勢に集中していても、少しずつ慣れてくると、水中の景色を楽しむ余裕も生まれてきます。

水面に戻ってきた皆さんの表情には、緊張よりも笑顔が増えていました。

🌏 3日間で、新しい世界への入り口へ

PADIオープン・ウォーター・ダイバー・コースでは、3日間かけてダイビングに必要な知識と技術を学びます。

水中での呼吸、器材の使い方、安全に潜るための基本。
一つずつ経験を重ね、皆さん無事にライセンスを取得しました。

ライセンスの取得は、ゴールではありません。
日本や世界各地の海を楽しむための、新しいスタートです。

[Activity Report] We held a rice planting monitoring tour at the Sky Terraced Rice Fields in Reihoku on April 19th.🧑‍🌾

Hello everyone, this is the Amakusa Reihoku Tourist Association.

On Sunday, April 19th, we conducted the "Reihoku Sky Terraced Rice Fields Rice Planting Monitoring Tour."
Although it was a light rain on the day, working in the fog-shrouded, magical rice terraces provided a deep and tranquil experience, different from sunny days.

■Experience the abundant "daily life of farmers"
During this tour, participants not only planted rice but also harvested fresh asparagus and experienced shiitake mushroom inoculation.
🌾Rice Planting: Enjoying the feel of the cold mud, step by step. Planting seedlings in the fog allowed for a pleasant concentration.
Asparagus Harvest: Picking the fresh asparagus on-site. The joy of harvesting blew away the fatigue of work.
🍄‍🟫Shiitake Inoculation: The sound of tapping on the wood echoed in the rainy rice terraces. We also experienced this long-lasting job while thinking about the harvest.

■Lunch time accompanied by the "sound of rain"
We enjoyed our lunch under the roof, with the sound of rain as our background music.

We will take the feedback from this monitoring tour to gradually implement various experience menus.

地域の伝説「白蛇姫物語」に着想を得て始まった伝統芸能の祭りです😊

湖畔のステージで舞われる「白蛇姫舞」は、幻想的かつ神秘的な世界観で観客を魅了します🎵

本番の前には、アイヌ伝統舞踊や伝統楽器「ムックリ」の演奏が実演され、アイヌ文化にも触れることができます。

The Urahoro Marathon is open to everyone, from preschoolers to adults, allowing participants to enjoy the thrill of taking small steps and sharing a sense of accomplishment with friends. The sense of achievement after finishing is exceptional 🎵 Also, you don't have to run❗ Why not join us as a supporter on the day? Cheering for runners at the finish line is also a great way to participate. The Kitano area of Kobe is well up the slope of the city, away from the port and Sannomiya station. The long trek uphill can be daunting, but some of Kobe's most vibrant cityscape means you at least can enjoy looking around on your way from the heart of the city. Once you get up to Kitano, though, you are rewarded with a neighborhood with a meaningful international character. Whether it be the local Mosque (one of the oldest and largest in Japan), or the prestigious British international school nearby, there are plenty of signs that the cosmopolitan aspect of Kitano is more than a shallow veneer of foreign cuisine restaurants. To be sure, those are there as well, and they are delicious! From memory, besides the ubiquitous Indian, Vietnamese and Chinese cuisine, German, Russian and Egyptian dining formed some of the more eclectic additions, as well as Mexican food, a sure treat for any visitors from North America missing a classic mainstay. But the most lasting and striking stamp that the wider world has left on Kitano are the Kitano "Ijinkan", the former western residences from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The stateliness of this old-world refinement are well complemented by the dazzling modern city visible below the hills. Even a global chain Starbucks gets in on the fun, with a famous repurposed building that is considerably fancier than your typical starbucks cafe. Whether for appreciating Meiji history, western architecture, foreign cuisine, the vibrant and diverse culture of the neighborhood, or just getting some good exercise in and enjoying the view from the hills of Kobe, the trip from Sannomiya up to Kitano is well worth the effort!
