All ten of Shimoda’s beaches closed their swimming season on August 31. Thank you to everyone who visited this year. After the season ends, designated swimming and surf zones disappear, and regulations such as "prohibited," "caution," or "permitted" no longer apply; lifeguards and beach patrols that were on duty at the bathing sites are withdrawn.
