#021 [Tourist Spot Feature Part 4 ✨] Introducing one of Tsunocho’s landmarks, Roadside Station Tsuno! Roadside Station Tsuno sits along Route 10 in Tsunocho and buzzes with visitors every day. Look around the parking lot and you’ll be surprised to see mostly out-of-prefecture license plates on the cars and trucks. Although it fills with travelers and drivers, the station is actually still relatively new. Roadside Station Tsuno opened on July 31, 2013, the day before Tsuno Shrine Summer Festival, the town’s signature celebration. From the moment it opened, it welcomed many guests and contributed greatly to Tsunocho’s growth. Its location on National Route 10 helps draw crowds, but there are other reasons too. Those reasons are its low prices and its facilities. Roadside Station Tsuno has even ranked third in past Miyazaki Prefecture roadside station listings, a sign of its strong reputation. First, about the low prices: items are noticeably cheaper than usual. That’s because products come straight from local producers. Skipping middlemen lets vendors sell at lower prices. By the way, I also buy vegetables and fruit at Roadside Station Tsuno. Next, the facilities. While they haven’t changed much since opening, the station offers a well-equipped product area, a food court, an information and rest corner, a nursing room, and restrooms with diaper-changing stations. Having diaper-changing tables is especially helpful for families with young children. The information and rest corner holds flyers and posters about Tsunocho and attractions across the prefecture. In the food court you’ll find Fukuura Cafeteria, famous for its seafood bowls; Osuzu‑an, serving jidori chicken soba; Ichido ramen; and a soft-serve ice cream stand. I love ramen, so I often eat here. The product area is naturally very popular, offering seasonal vegetables and fruit. At this time of year you’ll see many mandarins, strawberries, and cabbage on display. Isn’t having well-equipped facilities something very important for visitors? Classic Car Festival Car Festa Miyazaki in Tsuno This classic car festival is held at Tsuno Winery every year on the fourth Sunday of November. Autumn Nishiokoppe Market This year's autumn market was scheduled for Saturday, September 20th and Sunday, September 21st. The first day was calm and pleasantly mild, and many people came from inside and outside the village. The vendors were the familiar faces. Udon, soba, tempura, Ezo deer meatballs, and venison braised in red wine were available to eat at the venue Chiffon cake, Setoushi-kun yaki, umeboshi garlic and sweet potato sticks made good souvenirs. At the children's festival, a string-draw lottery appeared, and children pulled the strings with focused looks as they eyed the prizes they wanted. There was also a chance to try silk screen printing. From Seiryu no Sato fresh vegetables were on sale. The variety and low prices surprised everyone. From Nagoya and Osaka it takes about two to three hours by car or train, making day trips ideal. ✨The Lotus Festival is now on✨ The Lotus Festival runs at Hanahasu Park in Minami-Echizen Town, Fukui Prefecture through Monday, August 11 (national holiday). It’s about a five-minute drive from Nanjo Interchange. If you visit the Nanjo Service Area or Roadside Station Minamiechizen Sankairi, please stop by 🚙 At Hanahasu Park you can see about 130 varieties of lotus. On sunny days they appear large and vibrant, while on rainy days they take on a dreamy, otherworldly mood; their look also changes by time of day. Come see them on different days!!! Let us introduce Tokachi Plain Distillery, which makes craft gin in Tokachi, a region known for its agriculture, using mainly locally grown produce such as raspberries, adzuki beans, and mushrooms. The area’s first craft gin distillery opened in 2023 on the grounds of Tokachi Hills, and it currently offers three gins under the name AKATOKI. 📌The first batch featured a gold label and used 24 botanicals, including Tokachi-grown adzuki beans and mushrooms, creating layers of rich, savory flavors.🎵 📌The pink-label gin uses raspberries grown in Obihiro, giving it a gentle, sweet fruit character and a naturally pale pink hue from the fruit itself.🎵 📌The blue-label gin uses butterfly pea and lavish amounts of fresh bergamot peel to deliver a bright citrus aroma. Mixed with tonic water it turns pink, and with soda it becomes a pale blue, making it a visually delightful gin as well.🎵 The deep, clear blue extracted from butterfly pea flowers is inspired by the gemstone tanzanite.
