◆Minami Izu Taiko Festival
In October, the month known as Kannazuki, the gods gather at Izumo Taisha from across the country for a matchmaking council, leaving only the local guardian deities behind. When the gods return in November, the month is called Kamikizuki or Kamikuduki, and although many communities scaled down celebrations during the COVID-19 pandemic, grand festivals praying for a bountiful harvest are held throughout Minami Izu Town.

The 15th Atami Fish Festival will take place on Saturday and Sunday, November 1–2.

Kiunkaku Limited-Time “Wagakari no Niwa” and “Dark Green BAR 1919”

Kiunkaku, built in 1919 as a villa in Atami and now a tangible cultural property of Atami City, preserves the area’s changing history and culture.
The venue normally closes at 5:00 PM, but to let visitors see the Japanese garden and interior illuminated at night, Kiunkaku will offer two special evening openings on Saturday and Sunday, November 1–2, 2025. Enjoy a serene atmosphere unlike the bustling streets of Atami, with lush gardens, the sound of water, and a traditional Japanese light display created with wagasa (Japanese oil-paper umbrellas) and hand lanterns.

I Outbound to the Flower and Bird Garden in Kakegawa, Shizuoka Prefecture

The annual grand festival of Imamiya Shrine in the western district was held on both Sunday, October 19 and Monday, October 20.
On the first day’s procession, this year’s yakudoshi supporters’ group, Imamiya Reiwa Inoko-kai, carried the portable shrine from Wadayama to Imamiya Shrine in the morning, distributing lucky rice cakes and sacred sake along the route for warding off misfortune.
In the afternoon, following the Atami Fue-Rei Kai flute ensemble and accompanied by the palace mikoshi, the procession toured the route from Imamiya Shrine through Tenjincho, Wadamachi, Nagisa Elementary Park, and back to Tenjincho before entering the shrine. With officials in attendance, the eve shrine ceremony was conducted at Imamiya Shrine.
After the ritual, the shrine’s traditional kagura, a children’s dancer performance, and miko dances were offered, drawing a large crowd.
On the second day, the festival’s main shrine ritual took place, followed by a dedication performance by wadaiko drummer Ichitaro and the hocho-shiki knife ceremony led by Takashi Kishimoto, head instructor of the Shijo Shinryu headquarters.
On both days, food stalls lined the shrine and its surroundings, and not only adults but also children enjoyed the festival.

From Friday, October 24 to Sunday, October 26, the music event titled “Atami Art Fringe: Winds of Asia” will take place over three days at the Moon Terrace in the waterside park and Dragon Bridge on the Itokawa Promenade.
At the softly lit, atmospheric venues, you can enjoy dances and musical performances from countries across Asia.
It’s about a 10-minute walk between the two sites. Admission to all performances is free, so please feel free to drop by.

The other day, we went boat diving to the popular area "Tago" in Nishi-Izu! ⛴️✨

Speaking of Tago, it is a diving spot with a wide variety of terrain and highly transparent waters. There is also good Access that can be reached on a day trip from Kanto, and it is 🙌 an area that is often requested in Hokule'a Shonan

The first one this time is the point of the open sea, "Floating Shimane off the coast".
This is one of the longest places for divers, and when you dive, you will see a spectacular fish shadow 🐟🐟🐟 in front of you!
Snapdragons and squirrels flocked and danced 🎆 like fireworks in the sea
The sight that covers one aspect of the scene will take your guests breath away ✨

And the second is to the mysterious cave point 🕳️🤿 that represents Tago.
As you walk through the Gari, the light shining in from the end of the water channel shines in fantastically, as if you have jumped 🎬💫 into a scene from a movie
The scenery of light and shadow touches my heart no matter how many times I visit. That's the real thrill of "cave diving"!

Yesterday (September 9), we replanted daffodil bulbs at Cape Tsumeki, a scenic spot in Shimoda City.

Daffodils bloom in winter, and Shimoda City holds its Daffodil Festival from December 20 to January 31.

All the bulbs in the garden are dug up every June, and when summer ends the park management staff of Shimoda City replants the bulbs.

Although daffodils can bloom for several years without being replanted, we dig them up once to check the soil and buried bulbs so they will bloom beautifully.

About 15 people gathered to work today. We carried out the task with hopes that this year’s display will be even more beautiful. 😊

Imagining these bulbs sprouting, flowering, and turning the garden into a pure white sea of daffodils in three months makes me excited for the opening. ✨

Those who participated in the work included local residents of the Susaki area, Izu Kyuko Line, Shimoda Kaikoku Museum, ShimodaRopeway, Villa Ozawa (Tsumekizaki shop), Blue Tsumekizaki (Tsumekizaki shop), Shimoda City General Affairs Division, Tourism Exchange Division, Shimon Information Center, and Shimoda City Tourism Association.

The sparkling scenery that spreads out in the shallow area ✨ The world surrounded by light is so beautiful that you will want to look at it forever.

Plus, swimming through the dynamic terrain ⛰️ arches and rocky terrain created by volcanic eruptions will make you feel like you're on an adventure. No matter where you dive, there is a lot of variety, and every time you dive, you will discover something new!

And above all, a school 🐠🐟 of fish constantly swimming around the divers and never and a moment when they get bored.

Unforgettable Night Diving 🌙

What was particularly impressive this time was night diving. The sea at night shows a completely different look than in the daytime. Fish and nocturnal creatures illuminated by lights... Kiss your heart.

All ten of Shimoda’s beaches closed their swimming season on August 31. Thank you to everyone who visited this year.
After the season ends, designated swimming and surf zones disappear, and regulations such as "prohibited," "caution," or "permitted" no longer apply; lifeguards and beach patrols that were on duty at the bathing sites are withdrawn.

A water-accident advisory is also in effect. With hot days likely to continue, please take care of weather, water temperature, and wave conditions if you go swimming. Be equally careful around other bodies of water.

Even outside the official swimming season, you can still enjoy time by the sea as marine therapy.
For marine sports, there are experiences suitable for beginners, including sea kayaking, surf lessons, and diving.

Simply walking the shore and breathing the salt-tinged air can have the benefits of marine therapy.

Hello. This is 🤗 Hokule'a Shonan

The other day, I went to the popular diving spot "Izu Marine Park (IOP)" in Higashi-Izu.
This time, we had guests from Spain and guests from the United States living in Japan. It was a 🤿✨ very international dive

On the day of the dive, we were divided into two teams: the experience diving team and the fun dive team.
The experience diving team started by snorkeling and getting used to the sea. Scene observed colorful fish in a shallow area with high transparency, and the guests seemed 😄 to be having a lot of fun
After that, I tried to breathe in water for the first time. I was a little nervous at first, but I soon got used to it and was able to dive calmly. In addition, I tried water photography, and I was able to enjoy 👏 it with so much leeway that I couldn't believe it was the first time

The Fun Dive Team aimed for Izu Marine Park's Specialties "Water Post".
Meter under the seabed, you can 📮✨ actually post a postcard to this post and the postcard will really reach the other party. Those who receive it will surely be surprised.
In addition, this time, a guest who enjoys drawing also tried drawing in water. It was a special and luxurious time to enjoy diving and art at the same time.
