Yuzen Shrine Founded in 749 (the first year of Tenpei Katsuho) God of hot water in Atami The gods told us that there was a hot spring that had the effect of eliminating diseases, and a shrine was erected to enshrine the god, and it is a shrine that protects the hot springs of Atami. In order to be grateful for the hot springs of Atami and to ensure that the veins of the springs do not cease, an annual festival is held every spring and autumn. The names of the inns dedicated to the shrine are engraved in a row, and the names of the inns that no longer exist are also lined up, and you can feel the history of modern hot spring inns. In front of the shrine, there is a large hot spring that is said to be the source of Atami Onsen, and the intermittent spring is also a famous place. In this post, we will introduce sightseeing spots in Kawazu Town that you can enjoy together with the Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival! This time, I would like to introduce "Mitaka Shrine". ・Kabuki tradition ~Shrine Story~ "Once upon a time, there lived in the field of Mitaka Danmano a god with a sharp ear of ears, the god of the ear of the god of the ear of the god of the great tree, and one night he came to the base of the great pine tree and got off the white cow and said to him, "If we all get along, I promise you prosperity and protection," while the white cow licked his face and limbs with his long tongue. The god astride the white cow has ascended to heaven. It is the day of October 23rd. Since then, the villagers have made rice cakes in the shape of cows' tongues and offered them to the temple. Even now, "tongue bell mochi" remains as a custom. At first, it was called Mitaka Shrine, but then it came to be called Mitaka Shrine. Izusan Shrine Izusan Shrine is also the birthplace of Izu place names. Since it is the place where Minamoto no Yoritomo and Hojo Masako were united, it is also famous as a shrine of Marriage. In the Edo period, it was called Izu Daigongen, and it is a shrine with a history that Tokugawa Ieyasu also visited. If you climb the long stone steps to the precincts, you can enjoy a wonderful view overlooking Atami City and the sea. It takes about 1 hour to get from the main shrine to the main shrine via the Haruka Shrine, Hakusan Shrine, and the Yumeijin headquarters. It is also recommended to visit the temple while slowly climbing the mountain road. About 800 steps below the main shrine is the Sashiyu Shrine, where the god of hot springs is enshrined. Every year, a grand festival is held for 3 days from April 14 ~ 16, and many people visit. Address: 〒413-0002 Shizuoka Prefecture Atami City Izuyama 708-1 Phone number: 0557-80-3164 Access: From JR Atami Station, take a bus bound for Nanao for about 10 minutes → get off in front of Izusan Shrine Parking: Free (for 5 cars) * The number of stairs of 837 steps is the number from "Izuyama Beach" (near the running hot spring) to the main shrine. (It takes about 200 steps from the city road where the bus stop in front of Izusan Shrine is located to the main shrine / about 600 steps from National Route 135 to the main shrine) * Please note that if you go to "Hongu" from the main shrine / Izuyama Folk Museum, it will be a mountain road.

SAMURAI⚔HONOR
Feb. 2, 2024
How to visit shrines and temples/神社参拝の作法 Samurai were born with a sense of honor. Honor was the highest good. The goal that a young man who wanted to become a samurai had to pursue was not wealth or knowledge, but honor. Honor was a goal to be pursued "within oneself," without regard to profit or loss. Therefore, "honor" that is concerned with public reputation is not real honor.

【Tomorrow is Setsubun Festival】 It will be held at three shrines in Isehara City. ・ Oyama Afuri Shrine Shimosha ... Only for related parties and those who have applied ・ Sannomiya Hibita Shrine ... Oban maki 10 o'clock ~ ・ 12 o'clock ~ ・ 15 o'clock ~ ・ Isehara Daijingu Shrine ... Mamemaki (bean throwing) 15 o'clock ~ Oni is outside~, good fortune is inside~! It is an event to pray for a healthy and happy life this year and to exorcise evil spirits. There is a saying that if you eat as many times as your age, you will be happy. At three shrines in Isehara City, a grand mamemaki (bean throwing) is held in the precincts. A bean-sowing officer dressed as an event priest lines up on a special stage and scatters lucky beans all at once with shouts. It contains beans and lotteries stored in a baby bag, and local children pick them up with great enthusiasm. At Hibita Shrine, the Oni Yarai Shinto ritual is a highlight. It has become a traditional event. By the way, if you sow beans in the house, won't one of the beans you sowed at the end of the year cleaning come out? For details, please see the website of the Isehara City Tourism Association.
