Spring in Japan means cities surrounded by rows of cherry blossom trees, but whenever we imagine we think about light pink or white flowers and their fragile petals fluttering in the breeze. But these dark pink cherry blossoms are also gorgeous and they bloom much before than common sakura. These flowers are called Kawazu zakura and you can see this grand view if you visit this town from late Feb to early march.

A rocky area near Hayama and Chojagasaki. The sunset just before setting and the reflection in the puddle are beautiful. For a moment, it feels like it's not Japan, but there are many places like this near the city center.

My today's recommendation is Kawazu city. Kawazu cherry blossoms are early-blooming cherry blossoms that begin to bloom from mid-February to early March every year in Kawazu city of Shizuoka Prefecture.
