When it comes to introducing a country and its vibrant culture to newcomers at the airport, making thoughtful choices about what to showcase is essential because first impressions matter. During my recent trip, I stumbled upon Edo-koji, a charming Edo Market Place in the international terminal at Haneda Airport. The area is adorned with quaint, wooden shops that evoke the spirit of an Edo-era village, complete with a small stage that occasionally features captivating cultural displays. On this visit, I was drawn to a stunning pair of two-folded byōbu (folding screens) featuring an enchanting painting of the Wind God and Thunder God. This remarkable piece, crafted by the renowned Rinpa artist Ogata Kōrin, is a replica of an exquisite work by Tawaraya Sōtatsu, illustrating Raijin, the tempestuous god of lightning and storms, alongside Fūjin, the gentle god of wind. Honestly, what could be cooler than this? It’s a perfect representation of Japan’s rich artistic heritage right at the heart of the airport!

Back to Atami! 🤿 📍 Atami City, Shizuoka Continuing from yesterday, dive into the waters of Atami! 🌊 The inside of the sea changes every day, so you have to go right away so as not to miss the "seasonal" sea! 👍 🔹 Transparency is more than 15m! In the clear blue water, the huge wreck "Asahi 16" with a total length of 81 meters has an overwhelming presence 👏 This wreck lies in the sand at a depth of about 30 meters, and the depth of water on the deck is about 20 meters. The ship was originally carrying gravel and is said to have sunk in 1986. It is one of the largest divable wrecks in Japan, and its sense of scale is impressive! 🚢✨ Parts of the crumbling hull are thrilling 🤩, almost like an adventure movie 🔹 We also dived into the cave point, which is limited to the winter season! On a sunny day, the cave is flooded with light and has a fantastic beauty. There is no doubt that it is a special experience unique to this time of year! And... Shirataki in Winter Look at this 😳! Thanks to the recent cold snap, Shirataki has been cloaked in snow and ice, creating a stunning sight ❄️✨ Pale blue-tinted pillars of snow and ice line up into a breathtaking scene 👏 If possible, we’d love for you to see it with your own eyes! …That said, the path to Shirataki is coated in snow and ice and is extremely dangerous ⚠️ This time, specially trained staff from the tourism association risked their lives to climb up, so please enjoy the photos instead… 🙏🙏🙏 The trail to Shirataki is already hazardous, so we ask for your understanding 😭 Still, nature’s artistry is truly beautiful… I’d grown tired of all the snow, but it turns out it’s not all bad ✨ Let’s stay positive and enjoy ourselves 💪❤️‍🔥

Today, we interviewed Mr. 168. It is a collaboration menu with Kichijoten. It is a set of 鹹湯圓 (鹹湯圓), Roux Lo rice and side dishes. 鹹湯圓 is a white jade soup with minced meat. Popular peach buns 🍑 (walnut bean paste) were very popular. The peach buns, unfortunately, are not photographed, but they are so delicious that I ate them in no time. The Roux Lo rice is also very delicious. 😊

Sairinka, which had been canceled due to heavy snow, resumed on February 8th! Because the snowfall set a record, we thought it might be impossible to hold the event again, but with the cooperation of many people we carried out snow removal and successfully restarted the event. It's regrettable that attractions like Alley of Light and Tunnel of Light were canceled by the heavy snow, but we are happy to be able to resume them. Although some roads still remain in poor condition, thank you to everyone who came to visit us.
