〜The Way of the Brush〜 For those of us living in today's busy world, learning about the samurai spirit can give us insight into our attitude, attention, and focus, and foster the determination needed to achieve our goals to the fullest.

〜The Way of the Brush〜 Along with the martial arts, many other arts flourished, including calligraphy, tea ceremony, tea bowls, poetry, incense, and Noh drama, and a samurai needed to have knowledge of both the sword and the brush in order to be seen as a cultured gentleman.

Today, I am taking a walk in Kawagoe only in the morning. I've been curious, Maestro Maesutoro. It is open every Wednesday on the first floor of Resona Coedo Terrace. Kawagoe tea (yuzu) and berry nut galette. Galette combines nuts with blackcurrant and berry jam. It has sweet and sour tastes and is and delicious. Kawagoe tea also goes well with yuzu. The body warms up. Today, it is open until 15:00. Congratulations on your grand opening. ㊗️🎉

Searching for Autumn in Gokase At Josenji Temple’s three sites, I finally found red maple leaves 😭✨ When I visited last time, only one part had turned red, but that single tree was completely crimson and beautiful 🍁👏 A maple behind the temple gate at the entrance had turned orange 💡 Passing through the gate, I saw a plant bearing glossy red berries… is this viburnum? 🤔 It added an autumnal touch 🤗 Farther in, there were pretty pink and purple plants 🥰 The pink is mayumi (Euonymus) and the purple is muwashikibu (Callicarpa). They somehow give a “girly” vibe🤣 So cute 💕 Josenji Temple might be the most beautifully colored spot in Gokase right now…!? The crimson, gold, and green blend beautifully, reflecting on the lake's surface. The peace and beauty are indescribable. Autumn invites us to slow down, reflect on our lives, and fully embrace the present moment. This fantastic view was seen from Yuzawa Kogen alpine Botanical garden in Niigata prefecture.

Samurai are born aware of their "honor" The goal of the aspiring samurai was not wealth or knowledge, but honor. Honor is a goal to be pursued "within oneself," without regard to profit or loss. Therefore, "honor" that is concerned with public reputation is not real honor.

Searching for Autumn in Gokase This time I’m sharing the fall foliage around Shirataki that I photographed just the other day🍁 To get straight to the point, the autumn colors are… not here😂! All we can do is gather the few red maple leaves scattered on the ground to create a touch of autumn😂 The maples along the slope from the parking lot to Shirataki (photos 2 and 3) have faded to a sparse yellow, so it doesn’t really feel like proper fall foliage😓 Well, they’re still pretty in their own way… but you really want to see maples in full red, right?😂 As you climb further toward Shirataki, there were even cherry blossoms blooming out of season🤣🌸 With the recent abnormal weather, the plants must be all confused💦 It’s raining today due to the typhoon (also strange for this season), but the forecast calls for clear skies from tomorrow, so let’s keep hoping the leaves will change more🙏🙏🙏 The Gokase Tourism Association’s Instagram is running “Gokase Autumn Foliage 2024,” so if you spot fall colors in Gokase, please enter and share your photos🍁📸 For details, see the pinned “Gokase Autumn Foliage 2024” post on the association’s Instagram profile🤗✨

Photographed 10/19/24. It is a one-year cheap sea bream lottery of Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine. It's a vermilion color for a limited time, but when mixed with red, it's hard to tell. 😅

The sword is the soul of the samurai; it cannot be sold even if it starves to death. Bushido made the sword a symbol of his power and valor. From an early age, one is taught how to use a sword. He started with a wooden sword, and when he reached the age of 15, he was allowed to carry a serious weapon. At that time, he became aware of his self-respect and sense of responsibility for carrying a dangerous weapon in the street.
