The chilly Azumino valley lies under a sea of clouds, with the Northern Alps towering beyond
You can only see a scene like this on an Azumino morning!

I visited the famous Toohoku peak MtAdatara (1,700 m).
I took the ropeway from Okudake Trailhead to Summit Station, passed MtYakushi (1,322 m), and reached the summit of MtAdatara. Then I was moved by the stark volcanic landscape of the explosion crater (Numanodaira Crater), continued to Mount Yahazu (1,673 m), and enjoyed the autumn colors painting the slopes of MtTetsu (1,709 m).

I visited Mt. Kurikoma (elevation 1,626 m), the celebrated Tohoku peak praised as the "carpet of the gods."
At the temporary shuttle bus stop, Kurihara City staff warned that "bears have been appearing on the trail for four consecutive days!" and, ringing bear bells loudly, we made the ascent.
By the grace of the gods, we encountered no bears and were treated to truly stunning autumn foliage. Thank you.

1. The Nursing-Rooting Giant Ginkgo of Mt. Kamitakano 🍁

[Highlights] This giant ginkgo stands in the precincts of Tenman Shrine, with a trunk circumference at chest height of 9.6 meters, ranking first in the prefecture. It is said to have been planted as a sacred tree when Takemikazuchi-no-kami was enshrined here in the first year of Tenpyo (729). Aerial roots called "breasts" hang down from the main trunk, and it is designated as a prefectural natural monument. ※Please note that conditions may vary depending on the weather.

Yusaku Night Kagura: Mizukagami 2025

“Yusaku Night Kagura: Mizukagami 2025” will take place at Yusaku Park in Asaji Town, Bungoono City.
The bold Kagura dances will be reflected on the surface of the Shinji Pond.

Kiunkaku Limited-Time “Wagakari no Niwa” and “Dark Green BAR 1919”

Kiunkaku, built in 1919 as a villa in Atami and now a tangible cultural property of Atami City, preserves the area’s changing history and culture.
The venue normally closes at 5:00 PM, but to let visitors see the Japanese garden and interior illuminated at night, Kiunkaku will offer two special evening openings on Saturday and Sunday, November 1–2, 2025. Enjoy a serene atmosphere unlike the bustling streets of Atami, with lush gardens, the sound of water, and a traditional Japanese light display created with wagasa (Japanese oil-paper umbrellas) and hand lanterns.

[2025 Rokkakudo Kiriko Festival]
Scene of the "Rokkakudo Kiriko Festival" on 10/13 (Monday).
You can see the historical Kiriko exhibition up close.
The works created over time are detailed and delicate... I am overwhelmed by the beauty that I can't believe is human work!
At dusk, when the lights are lit in the Rokkakudo Hall and I see the local people praying, I hope that this scene will continue to be passed down in the future, along with the miracle that has continued for more than 300 years.

Sunset Village Festa 2025 in Gokase

On Sunday, October 12, the 27th Sunset Village Festa 2025 in Gokase took place under clear skies at Gokase Winery Event Square. 🌞

An opening drum performance instantly raised the festival mood, and the Dange-nana Dance by Kamikumi Elementary School and the Dan-shichi Odori Preservation Group united the crowd. ✨

Dance and hula routines had many people spontaneously joining in. ✨

Kainina’s song choices hit the perfect notes, and they got so into the music they paid little attention to the cameras. 🎶

At the Aju Girls’ stage, fans crowded the front to take photos. 📷

Momashi Five brought their signature presence, involving the whole audience and putting smiles on everyone’s faces. 😆

In the on-site fields visitors enjoyed a sweet potato digging experience; many left with sacks full of piping-hot sweet potatoes. 🍠

The main guests, the Toshiki Abe Life Memory Project, played melodies that perfectly matched the venue’s evening atmosphere as dusk approached. 😍

The finale featured kagura ritual music from Kotono Shrine. 👹
A roaming lion dance through the venue drew screams and laughter from different corners. 😅
Many people also joined the final mochi-throwing. 😊

We were treated to the beautiful sunset that inspired the name Sunset Village, making it another delightful day this year. ✨

The Daisen Senmaida selected as a "One of the 100 best terraced rice paddies in Japan" is illuminated by 10,000 trees LED lights. Enjoy the autumn and Winter traditions of The Boso peninsula Kamogawa.

The lights change from orange, blue, green, and purple every 15 minutes to create a fantastic atmosphere and entertain those who visit.

I happened to see a photo of the Hanasaki Line on the Internet, and I really wanted to see this scenery with my own eyes, so I researched the place and time, and finally I was able to see it.
