#010 Long time no post!! Today I’ll introduce Tsuno Town’s fireworks display and river festival, held on Friday, August 22. Tsuno Citizens’ Fireworks Display Organized by the Tsuno Citizens’ Fireworks Display Executive Committee, this show launches from rice fields where the harvest is finished. No specific viewing areas are designated, so many watch from the concurrently held river festival site, while others enjoy clear views from farther away. The fireworks look different depending on where you watch, and about 3,000 shells will light up the night sky over Tsuno. The highlight is that you can look down on the fireworks from the hillside parking lot of Tsuno Winery. Why not come for a fireworks experience you can’t usually have? Date: Friday, August 22, 2025 Time: From 8:00 PM TEL: 0983-25-5501 (Tsuno Winery) If it rains, the event will be postponed to Sunday, August 24. Tsuno Town River Festival Held at the same time as the Tsuno Citizens’ Fireworks Display, this river festival is organized by the Tsuno Chamber of Commerce and Industry Youth Division. Food stalls line the Tsuno River Fureai Street beside Tono Shrine, and the event features plenty of fun stage programs for children. Date: Friday, August 22, 2025 Time: 3:00 PM–9:00 PM TEL: 0983-25-0200 (Tsuno Chamber of Commerce and Industry) Parking: Please use Roadside Station Tsuno. On the day of the event, Tsuno Winery and the area around Tono Shrine are expected to be crowded with cars and visitors from about one hour before the fireworks launch. Please take care when you come.

A Long-Awaited Hike up Mt. Shiraiwa 👟 From the 13th to the 17th, the town road Hon’yashiki–Hagisen reopened to regular vehicles, so I left my car at Gokasecho Highland Ski Area’s Ski Center and hiked up Mt. Shiraiwa 💪 Because the management road up to the ski area still prohibits ordinary cars, I first headed on foot for the Gobobatake trailhead ✨ About 30 minutes after starting, I reached the Gobobatake trailhead 💡 From there I set off on my long-awaited hike up Mt. Shiraiwa 😊 The trail was rough at first, but it was generally easy to walk and the cool weather made the climb comfortable ✨ At the summit I exchanged valuable information and learned about conditions on nearby peaks 👍 The photos show an asagi-madara butterfly and alpine wildflowers I encountered along the way 🥰 It felt great to hike Mt. Shiraiwa again and it was a refreshing experience 😆

(1) During the summer, Taiwanese students staying in Tateyama experienced the Tateyama Bay Fireworks Festival. We received wonderful photos, videos, and impressions taken, so we will introduce them! Xiangyun The fireworks festival in Tateyama was very exciting. Fireworks in Japan last for a whopping 1 hour, while major events in Taiwan (for example, New Year's Eve fireworks) last only about 5 minutes, and I was very surprised by the difference. The feature of Tateyama's fireworks is that they are launched over the Ocean, and the range of fireworks is so wide that they bloom all over the place in an instant, so it was so Fresh and spectacular that I didn't know where to look. In addition, everyone was lying down most of the time to watch it because of the Appreciation on the sandy beach, which was very comfortable. Intoxicated by the romantic atmosphere of the moment, I felt that the Tateyama fireworks festival had all the necessary elements for romance. The festival stalls also added to the dreamy atmosphere, and the colorful and rich aroma made me want to eat anything. In particular, there were many takoyaki stalls, so I just bought a box and tasted it. The owner was very kind, and even though I couldn't understand the language, he treated me warmly, which warmed my heart. Nature made me smile while walking, and the delicious taste made this night even more unforgettable. The Tateyama Fireworks Festival is truly exhilarating. I was amazed that Japanese fireworks can last for a whole hour, especially compared to major celebrations in Taiwan—like New Year’s Eve—that only last about five minutes. This difference really shocked me. What makes the Tateyama fireworks special is that they explode over the sea, creating a vast display that bursts in all directions at once, making it hard to know where to look. It’s both novel and spectacular. Watching from the beach, where most people lie down comfortably, adds to the relaxing atmosphere. The romantic mood at that moment is intoxicating, as if the Tateyama fireworks festival embodies all the elements needed for romance. The food stalls at the festival add to the dreamlike feeling, with their colorful displays and enticing aromas making everything tempting to eat. There were many takoyaki (octopus ball) vendors, and I couldn’t resist buying a box to try. The vendors were very friendly, warmly interacting with me despite the language barrier, which made me feel especially welcomed. As I strolled around, I found myself smiling unconsciously, and the delicious tastes made the evening even more unforgettable.

(2) During the summer, Taiwanese students staying in Tateyama experienced the Tateyama Bay Fireworks Festival. We received wonderful photos, videos, and impressions taken, so we will introduce them! 士昕的 ✨ Pure joy beneath the summer night sky 🌌🎆 The Tateyama Fireworks Festival in Chiba was absolutely magical — even more spectacular this year! The highlight? Definitely the underwater fireworks 🌊💫 — shimmering bursts that danced across the sea’s surface like something out of a dream. My favorite moment was watching the golden willow-shaped fireworks drift gently down, like glowing branches swaying in the breeze… truly breathtaking. And of course, no festival is complete without tasty treats — the butter-fried potatoes were crispy, golden, and totally addictive 🥔😋 Huge thanks to the amazing staff and organizers for making this unforgettable night possible. Already counting down the days until next year! 📍 Tateyama, Chiba | Tateyama Bay Fireworks Festival 🗓️ Held every August 8th — a must-see summer tradition in Japan! ✨ Feeling 🌌🎆 pure joy under the summer night sky The Tateyama Fireworks Festival in Chiba Prefecture was a truly magical experience. This year was even grander than every year! The highlight was definitely the Underwater Fireworks — the fireworks 🌊💫 that glowed like dancing on the surface of the sea were like a dream. I was particularly impressed by the moment when the golden willow-shaped fireworks slowly descended like branches swaying in the wind... It was truly breathtaking. And, of course, the Festival also requires delicious stall gourmet. Butter fried potatoes were crunchy, golden brown, and addictively delicious 🥔😋 Held in next year, thanks to the wonderful staff and management! 📍 Tateyama City, Chiba Prefecture | Tateyama Bay Fireworks Festival 🗓️ Held in every year on August 8 — a summer tradition in Japan!

The deep green of Usa Jingu Shrine, which symbolizes "summer in Japan". In the sunlight shining through the trees, I captured the moment when my father passed through the vermilion Torii (shrine gate). This Torii (shrine gate) is the boundary between the sacred and the mundane, a symbol of purification and vitality.   Usa Jingu Shrine, the Main Shrine of the Hachiman faith, is a sacred place where my ancestors, the Karashima clan, especially Katsuotome Karashima, were deeply involved in its founding. The image of the father passing through the Torii (shrine gate) gate symbolizes the way in which the lineage and faith are passed down from generation to generation, following in the footsteps of distant ancestors.   This trip was a powerful and healing experience for me, like a large tree taking root in my heart. I was touched by the vitality of Usa Jingu Shrine in summer and the history of my ancestors, and I realized that my Roux is deeply rooted in this Great Earth. This is more than just a summer scene, it is a piece that conveys an ancient bond and inner peace.

After taking pictures of the starry sky at Asama Highlands, I took pictures at Shiraito Falls, and when I arrived at the site early in the morning, about seven photographers arrived first. I managed to secure a place to shoot and waited for the sunlight to shine. I waited for the sunlight to start turning around around 7 a.m. I posted it yesterday with the same name, but I didn't know how to put the sentence, so I posted it. We apologize for the inconvenience, but please discard it if it and applicable.

The rooster-crowing imitation contest is based on a local legend. According to the tale, a troublesome demon settled in the area and demanded, "Give me the village maiden as a bride!" The troubled village headman consulted a monk, who told the demon, "If you carve five stone Buddhas on the cliff in one night, I will give you the maiden as a bride; if you cannot, you must leave the village." Worried villagers checked at night and found the demon carving the fifth statue. They had the village’s rooster-call master imitate a rooster, and the demon mistook the sound for dawn and fled. ■■■ Access to Bungoono City central area ■■■ About a 3-hour drive from JR Hakata Station, Fukuoka Prefecture About a 2-hour drive from JR Kumamoto Station, Kumamoto Prefecture About a 1 hour 20 minute drive from JR Beppu Station, Oita Prefecture About a 1 hour 20 minute drive from JR Yufuin Station, Oita Prefecture ■■■■■■■■■■■■ Introducing tourism and recommended spots in Kyushu’s Bungoono City, Oita Prefecture ■■■■■■■■■■■■ https://sato-no-tabi.jp/news/20250813event-mie/...
