Akita prefecture is a breathtaking destination that boasts of magnetic wilderness and a perfect climate for growing the most delicious apples you have ever tasted. During my recent visit to the Yokote Kamakura Festival, my eyes were caught by the sight of sugar-coated, bright-red Akita apples that looked incredibly tempting. Without second thoughts, I grabbed one and took a bite. The sweetness was unlike anything I had ever tasted before, and it left me craving for more. It was truly an exhilarating experience!

This place is often compared to the renowned Tokyo station by many tourists. It used to be the headquarters of the Ministry of Justice but now serves as the Institute of Legal Affairs and the Legal Library. The Meiji period construction was designed by two competent German architects. Despite being damaged in World War II, it was successfully restored. The symmetrical and majestic architecture of the building is simply breathtaking. The European style of the Meiji period is beautifully represented in this structure and looks even more stunning during the rare snowfall in Tokyo. Exploring new places in this bustling city during the snow season is an experience worth having.

It is a World Heritage Site, but it is lit up three times a year. The other day, there was a winter illumination event, so I went there. This time, I made a reservation half a year ago, so I was able to stay lodging in a 200-year-old gassho-zukuri minshuku, and thanks to that, I was able to fully enjoy the nostalgic original scenery of Japan. In addition to the illumination at night, the quiet early morning walk, which is only possible for those who stayed at the lodging, was exceptional.

Photographed on February 26 The early-blooming Oshima cherry in Nagisa Elementary Park is now at its best. This large cherry is said to be a cultivar created by crossing Oshima-zakura with Somei-yoshino, and it usually reaches peak bloom from early to mid-March each year. Perhaps because temperatures have been high this year, it is already in full bloom! The tree has many flower buds and is truly impressive. Hashima Island, located off the coast of Kyushu Nagasaki, is a coal mining facility that is now in ruins, called Gunkanjima because of its shape. It can be reached by boat in 40 minutes from Nagasaki Port, so you can go ashore on a tour, but from the coastline of the Nomozaki area in the southern part of Nagasaki City, you can see Gunkanjima from land. This view is also a view that I would like to keep forever, but it may not be possible to see it in a few years due to the progress of decay.
