Isehara Tourism Association
Jan. 4, 2024
Nice to meet you! This is the Isehara City Tourism Association. Isehara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, lies in the center of Kanagawa and has a population of 101,495 as of December 2023. About one third of its total area is covered by forests and wilderness, making it a region rich in nature. It also boasts excellent access—about 60 minutes from Shinjuku Station on the Odakyu Odawara Line (Rapid Express/Express). In this first post, we introduce Isehara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, focusing on its sightseeing spots! ─・─・─・─・─・─・─・─・─・─・─ Sightseeing Information for Isehara City, Kanagawa Prefecture ─・─・─・─・─・─・─・─・─・─・─ ■ Mt. Ooyama / Oyama Cable Car / Daisenji Temple / Oyama Afuri Shrine Mt. Ooyama, at 1,251.7 meters and part of Tanzawa-Ōyama Quasi-National Park, is one of the most popular hiking spots in the Kanto region. In 2016 it was designated a Japan Heritage site. From the summit you can see the Sagami Plain and even Tokyo’s skyscrapers on clear days, and the mountain is listed among Kanagawa’s 50 scenic spots. ・Oyama Cable Car The Ōyama Cable Line, commonly called the Oyama Cable Car, is a 0.8 km cable car. With large windows to enjoy Ooyama’s nature, it provides easy access toward the summit. ・Daisenji Temple Daisenji sits on the mountainside and is also known as Mount Amefuri. In autumn the maple trees flanking the stone steps to the main hall turn brilliant red, making it a famous spot for autumn foliage. A “Momiji Festival” is held and draws many visitors. There are four types of goshuin (temple stamps), including a striking gold-letter special edition. [Access: Get off at Daisenji Station on the Oyama Cable Car, about a 3-minute walk] ・Oyama Afuri Shrine Founded over 2,200 years ago, the shrine enshrines the three deities Ōyamatsumi no Ōkami, Ooi-Kazuchi-no-Kami, and Takaokami-no-Kami. The main shrine sits at the summit of Mt. Ooyama, with the lower shrine located on the mountainside. The view from Afuri Shrine Station on the Oyama Cable Car, which earned two stars in the Michelin Green Guide Japan, is a must-see when you get off the cable car. [Access: Get off at Afuri Shrine Station on the Oyama Cable Car] ■ Hinata Yakushi Officially named Hinatayama Hojo-bo, it enshrines a Yakushi Nyorai carved from a single block of wood and is one of Japan’s three great Yakushi temples. Until the end of the Edo period it was called Mount Hyūga Ryōzen-ji and served as a center for Hinata Shugendo, where monks practiced ascetic training in this sacred area. Every year in mid-September red spider lilies bloom around Hinata Yakushi and attract many visitors. Hinata Yakushi offers many sights starting with the Kongorikishi statues along the approach. The Hoden, built to store cultural properties, houses 23 historic Buddhist statues, including eight nationally designated items and two prefecturally designated items. The Yakushi-do, the main hall with its thatched roof, is also designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan. ■ Isehara Tounoyama Ryokuchi Park The park and citizen green space together cover about 13 hectares, with trails and lawns where you can relax and enjoy nature at a gentle pace. The well-maintained paths make hiking enjoyable and safe even for small children. ■ Mitakeen This mikan orchard covers about 1 hectare and grows approximately 900 mikan trees. Mikan picking season runs from mid-September to around February. From mid-September you can pick early varieties such as Hinano-hime and Nitta No. 1, and from early October varieties like Miyagawa wase and Taguchi wase are available. From spring through summer you can also enjoy barbecues and vegetable-harvesting experiences. Because Mitakeen sits on the mountainside, on clear days you can enjoy views of Sagami Bay, Enoshima, and the Boso Peninsula. ─・─・─・─・─・─・─・─・─・─・─ Event Information for Isehara City, Kanagawa Prefecture ─・─・─・─・─・─・─・─・─・─・─ Isehara City hosts a variety of events throughout the year. ■ Setsubun Festival Celebrities are invited and events are held at sites such as Oyama Afuri Shrine, Sannomiya Hibita Shrine, and Isehara Daijingu Shrine. [Held: the day before Risshun (the beginning of spring)] ■ Sannomiya Hibita Shrine Spring Grand Festival Hibita Shrine has been known as a power spot since the Jomon period. The spring grand festival features three colorful karakuri doll floats parading through town. Traditional folk kagura performances take place on the shrine grounds and are another highlight. Festival stalls line the streets—about 200 vendors in 2023. [Held: usually in April] ■ Painted Lantern Festival Handmade painted lanterns line Oyama Shinmichi (the bypass), creating a magical scene that lights the night. Lantern designs include Edo-period woodblock print motifs and popular characters. A stamp rally and other events are held during the festival. [Held: mid to late August every year] ─・─・─・─・─・─・─・─・─・─・─ Accommodation Information for Isehara City, Kanagawa Prefecture ─・─・─・─・─・─・─・─・─・─・─ Isehara offers inns, temple lodgings, and hotels tucked into quiet mountain valleys. Each accommodation serves dishes made from fresh local ingredients, and some venues offer meal-only options. You can also find lodging information on the official website of the Isehara City Tourism Association for reference. With dramatic natural scenery, historic landmarks, and the mystical atmosphere of shrines and temples, Isehara City in Kanagawa Prefecture has many attractions to explore. We will continue to share Isehara’s charms through this account. Thank you and we look forward to your support!

It borders five towns and one village, including Iwanai-cho and the Niseko Range. The town ranks among Hokkaido’s top producers of local brand fruits such as Raiden watermelons and Raiden melons. Kyowa-cho has long been a rice-producing area, growing varieties like Nanatsuboshi and Yumepirika. Popular sightseeing spots in Kyowa-cho, Hokkaido Niseko Shinsen-numa Natural Recreation Forest Niseko Shinsen-numa Natural Recreation Forest is a popular destination on a plateau above 750 m. Shinsennuma Shinsennuma is a marsh in the Niseko range famed for its otherworldly beauty. The name Shinsennuma became popular after Toyomatsu Shimoda, founder of the Boy Scouts in Japan, visited and described it as a place where gods and immortals would dwell. The marsh changes its expression with the seasons—autumn foliage and fresh green leaves—and blooms of Ezo-kanzoso and cotton grass make Shinsennuma a place you’ll want to revisit. Onuma Onuma lies at an elevation of 850 m, framed by Mt. Weisshorn, which spans Kutchancho and Kyowa-cho, and Nitonupuri, which lies between Kutchancho and Rankoshi-machi. Nishimura Keiyu Memorial Art Museum This museum focuses on the works of Keio Nishimura, a Western-style painter from Kyowa-cho, and houses about 5,500 pieces, with roughly 100 on display at any time. After World War II Nishimura moved to France, where Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler, Picasso’s dealer, discovered him; Nishimura based his career in Paris and received honors such as France’s Order of Arts and Letters. The museum rotates its exhibits about four times a year, letting visitors enjoy a variety of works. The museum also offers regular programs to enjoy art, and the views from the museum are a draw in themselves. Kashogyōen Okujozankei Onsen Kasho Gyoen is located in Jozankei, Minami-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido. There is Jozankei Onsen in Jozankei, which is famous nationwide. Jozankei Onsen is a hot spring resort with a history of more than 150 years since its opening, and is a popular tourist destination for overseas travelers, attracting 2.4 million visitors annually. It is about 26 kilometers from downtown Sapporo, about 1 hour by car, and is convenient for transportation, and is surrounded by nature, so there are plenty of popular activity spots. There are many ways to play, such as skiing, horseback riding, canoeing, orchards, and park golf courses. The Jozankei area is designated as Shikotsu-Toya National Park, so you can enjoy camping. Jozankei Onsen has a very long history, and more than 150 years ago, in the 2nd year of Keio 1866, the Shugen monk "Bisen Jozan" met this area with the guidance of the Ainu people and pioneered it as a hot spring area, so it was named "Jozankei". Since then, it has healed many people for many years and continues to this day. The spring quality of Jozankei Onsen is a colorless and transparent sodium chloride spring called "hot water" as a hot spring with a high heat retention effect. There are 56 springs, and they gush out abundantly from cracks in the bedrock on the riverbank. In addition, in Jozankei, the "Kappa Legend" has been handed down for a long time, and you can see Kappa statues here and there in the hot spring town. There are 21 statues in total, so it is recommended to take a walk in the hot spring town and look for the Kappa statue. In the Jozankei area, there are more than 20 hotels and ryokans including this hotel. There are also plenty of day-trip hot springs. When traveling to Hokkaido, please visit Jozankei. A historic hot spring town awaits you. To make a reservation for a stay at our hotel "Kamatsu Gyoen", please visit the official website listed in your profile. We will introduce the restaurants and meals of Okujozankei Onsen Kasho Gyoen, a culinary inn that weaves seasons. Our restaurant was expanded and renovated in early summer 2022. The interior using natural materials is a special space that matches the atmosphere of the hotel standing in nature. We are proud of our dishes where you can feel the four seasons of Hokkaido, and our Italian chef carefully prepares each dish with ingredients found from Hokkaido. The sommelier will propose champagne, red wine and white wine to match your dish. We also offer wines from Hokkaido, sake, and wines from all over the world, so please let us know if you have any requests. For dinner, you can enjoy the night view with the natural scenery outside the window illuminated by lights, and the breakfast with a Japanese set can be enjoyed while enjoying the view of the four seasons of nature illuminated by the morning sun. We also have private rooms to create a private space. On the hotel's official website, there are many accommodation plans where you can enjoy the cuisine of Kamatsu Gyoen, such as memorial dessert as an anniversary plan, a plan with a guaranteed private room, a plan with pairing wine, and a plan where you can taste handmade pizza from the forest. Please take a look at the official website listed in your profile. ◆Kamatsu Gyoen Facility Information Details◆ 【Address】〒061-2301 857 Jozankei, Minami-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido 【Phone number】011-598-2661 【Access Shuttle Bus】 A free shuttle bus runs from Sapporo Station every day. Chiba Kamogawa Onsen Rian. It opened on August 8, 2022.

From your room, you can see the morning sun rising from the Pacific Ocean in front of you. The open-air bath while watching the morning sun is the best. The sunlight reflected in the water basin in front of you is also beautiful, and the sound of the wind and sea invites customers to relax. If you walk on the deck connected to the open-air bath, there is a sofa, so you can relax while looking at the sea.

"There is no large bath in Lian."

That's because I want you to spend a private and relaxing time.

An open-air bath with your favorite sake in hand...

While talking to the people I love...

Treat yourself...

We look forward to seeing you there.

Chiba Kamogawa Onsen Rian. It opened on August 8, 2022.
A Japanese-style building built in the image of an old Japan inn. Gentle wood warmth, fragrance. And the sea spreads out in front of you. The water basins in front of the room and lobby reflect the moon at night and ripple with the wind, making the open-air bath at night even more wonderful. The open-air bath is just about the size of stretching your legs.
You can spend a relaxing time looking up at the sky.

At the beginning of OPENING, there were no trees between the private house and the inn, and the view was too good, but now you can only see a little outside through the gap in the vegetation at a height that does not bother the private house, and you can no longer worry about the line of sight opposite. Stay tuned for new photos. Of course, you can overlook the beautiful sea.

There are 10 rooms in total. Four of them are dining rooms. The restaurant is a private room with a view of the mountain side.

The room we are introducing today is "Tsuruun".

[ CONCEPT ]
<Auspicious pattern: Futatsumaru Ryu> × < Theme color: Blue blue>
The dragon is revered as a god of water and has deepened people's faith as a symbol of protection and fertility. The powerful "Futatsumaru Ryu" is the design motif.
With the theme color "blue blue" reminiscent of the mountains that spread around Lian, the interior and furniture are coordinated.

My daughter studied abroad at Australia Gold coast last month and has not come back for a year and a half, so of course I am continuing the online English cram school, but I am coming to work at the inn as a live-inn! It is an inn called Rian in Kamogawa. If I don't keep myself busy, I'll 😂 only think about my daughter. It has been 17 days since I started working at the inn. Yesterday, I broke the boar mouth used at the inn, so I wanted to buy it and return it, so I 😌✨ visited the supplier's glass workshop. Main Glass Studio SUKIGALASS It's in the mountains, so come by car! No two glasses were the same, and they were ♡ lined with tasteful and beautiful glasses. Buy 💟 a plate for yourself The producer's uncle gave us a lot of information about the neighborhood. It may seem blunt at first, but he will talk to you about various things! Please 💞 stop by

What a beautiful photo! It actually reminded me of the Takeda Castle Ruins. All of the amazing autumn foliage and the sea of clouds in the area. Dang it, now I have to come here in two different seasons lol! I already knew the cherry blossoms were amazing on Mt. Yoshino but now I have to see the autumn foliage as well and hopefully the sea of clouds along with it. I love that you can see Kinpusenji Temple as well. I guess it's a World Heritage Site and I'd love to see it. I wonder if there are any nice inns up here as well. It'd be an amazing experience to stay the night up on the mountain after sightseeing in the area with all the natural scenery and the temple and then have some kaiseki cuisine at a nearby inn... But now I'm just getting myself excited and hungry haha. I'll have to do a bit more research later!
