Every December, the Youth Division of the Niikappu Chamber of Commerce and Industry holds the Niikappu Illumination Festa. Around the roadside station "Thoroughbred Road Shinkaku", 26,000 light bulbs such as an illuminated tunnel and a 5-meter-high Christmas tree are displayed, making it an event that is appreciated by many townspeople as a winter tradition.
