Spring in Japan means cities surrounded by rows of cherry blossom trees, but whenever we imagine we think about light pink or white flowers and their fragile petals fluttering in the breeze. But these dark pink cherry blossoms are also gorgeous and they bloom much before than common sakura. These flowers are called Kawazu zakura and you can see this grand view if you visit this town from late Feb to early march.

My today's recommendation is Kawazu city. Kawazu cherry blossoms are early-blooming cherry blossoms that begin to bloom from mid-February to early March every year in Kawazu city of Shizuoka Prefecture. During that period a several hundred cherry trees blooms along the both side of river. Unlike the normal cherry blossom this kawazu cherry blossoms are bright colors.
