How do you do!
It is a town full of history "Fujiidera City, Osaka Prefecture".

Fujiidera City is located about 15 km southeast of Osaka City, and can be reached from Kansai Airport in about 1 hour and 10 minutes by train or 50 minutes by car.

The origin of the city's name is derived from the "Fujiidera" that exists in the city.
Katsurui-dera Temple was built in the latter half of the 7th century and is worshipped as the fifth temple of the 33 Kannon Sacred Sites in Nishikoku, and the main statue of the National Treasure Inui Urushi Senju Kannon is actually a thousand-armed Kannon statue with 1,041 hands, and is opened on the 18th of every month. In spring, beautiful purple wisteria flowers bloom on the wisteria trellis of the precincts.

In addition, Dōmyōji Tenmangu Shrine is a shrine located in Dōmyōji in Fujiidera City that gathers worship as a god of learning, and there are about 800 plum trees of 80 species in the precincts, and it is known as a famous place for plum blossoms.
The treasure hall in the precincts has a collection of national treasures and many valuable cultural properties, so please take a look.

In addition, Fujiidera City is famous for its Furuichi Kofun Cluster, a group of burial mounds built from the late 4th century to the middle of the 6th century.

The Furuichi Kofun Cluster consists of more than 130 burial mounds, including seven huge anterior and posterior burial mounds with a length of more than 200 meters, and together with the Mozu burial mounds in Sakai City Furuichi Kofun Cluster, it was registered as a World Cultural Heritage Site for the first time in Osaka Prefecture in the first year of Reiwa.

The shape of the burial mounds also varies.
◎ Keyhole-shaped "front and rear circle burial mound"
◎ A type of anterior-posterior burial mound with a shortened front part "Scallop-shaped burial mound"
◎ Rectangular "square tomb"
◎ The most common circular burial mound in Japan

Here are some of the burial mounds in Furuichi Kofun Cluster!
◎ Tsudoshiro Yamakofun
It is said to be the first huge burial mound built in Furuichi Kofun Cluster.
The length of the mound is 210 m, and in the Muromachi period, Oyama Castle was built using the topography of the burial mound.
At the nearby historical museum "Mahorashiroyama", excavated haniwa and earthenware are on display, so you can learn about the history of the burial mounds.

◎ Mausoleum of Emperor Chuai
Located about a 15-minute walk from Fujiidera Station, this huge burial mound is 245 meters long. Many cylindrical haniwa and figurative haniwa have been excavated from the mounds and hollows.
The burial mound is now covered with rich trees, and waterfowl gather in the surrounding moat, making it a spot where you can feel a relaxing time.

If you want to see the excavated items, we recommend IJsselschla Hall.
As an archaeological and history museum facility, the history exhibition room and the ancient archives room display many cultural properties, including the "Mizutorigata Haniwa", which is an important cultural property of Japan.
The exterior design of the building is based on the motif of a ship-shaped haniwa and shura excavated from Fujiidera City, and is characterized by the image of a ship that inherits history and sets sail into the future.

A recommended sightseeing plan for those who want to enjoy these burial mounds and shrines and temples together is the "Furuichi Kofun Cluster and Rokusha-ji Tour" held as a commemoration of Furuichi Kofun Cluster's registration as a World Cultural Heritage Site.
It is a collection of the mausoleum seals of the World Heritage "Furuichi Kofun Cluster" and the red seals of the venerable shrines and temples scattered throughout Fujiidera City and Habikino City, so you can enjoy sightseeing at Fujiidera Temple while feeling the history firsthand. Please try to collect all the red seals.

In this post, we mainly introduced the historical spots of Fujiidera City, but it is still only a small part of the tourist information of Fujiidera City.
We will continue to send out plenty of recommended information, gourmet information, event and festival information, so thank you!

Sueyoshi Shrine I went to "Sueyoshi Shrine" in Shuri Sueyoshi, Naha City. It is one of the same eight Ryukyu companies as the Naminoue Shrine I introduced last time. I think it is the most impactful shrine among the eight shrines. Unfortunately, everything collapsed in the Battle of Okinawa, but it was restored. The worship hall is located in a small forest and overlooks the center of Naha City. The red tiles, white plaster, and vermilion paint are vivid, and there are few people who come to worship, and it feels like a secluded area.

Hello everyone! This is the Mashu Lake Tourism Association.
We will introduce many highlights and ways to enjoy Teshikaga in Hokkaido to viewers of Cool Japan Video!
First, can everyone read the name "Teshikaga"?

It is pronounced "Teshikaga".
When people think of Hokkaido, Lake Mashu and Lake Kussharo come to mind as popular spots visited by many tourists, and both lakes are located in Teshikaga.

Lake Mashu spreads out in a deep blue and is known as the sacred lake.
Its blue surface is called Mashu Blue and boasts the highest transparency in Japan and ranks among the world’s very clearest lakes.

To fully enjoy this beautiful lake surface, we recommend visiting the observatories.
The Lake Mashu First Observatory is the most popular lookout, attracting about one million visitors a year.
It has a large parking lot and rest house with restrooms, so you can stop by to take a break.
The Lake Mashu Third Observatory and Uramashu Observatory also offer free parking and let you see different faces of Lake Mashu.
From the Lake Mashu First Observatory and the Lake Mashu Third Observatory, when luck and weather conditions are favorable, the entire lake can be covered in fog, and the settled mist can appear as a sea of clouds.

Lake Kussharo is one of the world’s largest caldera lakes and the largest caldera lake in Japan (a lake formed when a volcanic crater filled with water after an eruption).
Numerous natural hot springs gush out along the lakeshore, so you can enjoy hot springs in open-air baths and saunas that make the most of nature, as well as in large hotels.
In summer you can fully enjoy water sports such as camping, canoeing, and sailing.
Across the great outdoors of Teshikaga you can also enjoy activities like horseback riding, golf, fishing, cycling, and dairy farm experiences.

When you visit Teshikaga, please also savor the town’s local specialties and gourmet foods.
These include Mashu Soba, known as the prized "phantom soba" for its careful quality; Mashu Melon, in season from early to late August; potatoes packed with the bounty of the land; and popular products from Teshikaga farms such as Mashu Pork and Mashu Wagyu.

Teshikaga in Hokkaido is conveniently accessible by car—about 75 minutes from Kushiro Airport and about 70 minutes from Memanbetsu Airport.
Please come and enjoy the vast nature of Teshikaga.

Through Cool Japan Video, we will continue to bring you attractions and travel information about Teshikaga, Lake Mashu, and Lake Kussharo, so please follow us if you like!

Unnan, Shimane On the riverbed of the Mitoya River, cherry trees are planted for about 2 km on both banks of the Mitoya River, which flows parallel to National Route 54 until the end of April. It is a famous place for cherry blossoms along with the "Hiigawa Embankment Cherry Blossom Tree" in Kitsugi Town, and during the cherry blossom viewing season, bomboli are installed on the bank and you can enjoy the illuminated cherry blossoms at night. On the banks of the Mitoya River, a type of cherry tree called "Gyoikou" is also planted. It is a cherry tree with pale green flowers, about 120 of which are planted. Someiyoshino cherry blossoms bloom about two weeks later and are in full bloom around late April every year, so you can enjoy cherry blossom viewing twice along the cherry blossom trees along the banks of the Mitoya River. I rode along the Otofuke Melody Line! That doesn’t mean music plays along the road. (I thought so at first too 😊) The name belongs to a town road connecting TokachigawaOnsen and central Otofuke, and it was named after the “Oto” in Otofuke Town. You’ll find rural scenery typical of Otofuke, a straight road leading toward the mountain range, and sunflower fields in autumn—many lovely views. At about 15 km long, it’s a wonderful road for driving or cycling! Because there are ups and downs, an electric-assist bicycle is recommended for cycling. The tourism association provides assist bicycles! Be sure to try riding the Otofuke Melody Line♬ ⛔Please do not enter the fields.

【Naitai Highland Farm】 About one and a half hours by car from Obihiro Station, we went to the Naitai Highlands, where you can see the ranch scenery typical of Hokkaido. "It is the largest public ranch in Japan, with a total area of about 1,700 ha 358 times the size of Tokyo Dome, where you can see cattle grazing. The carpet of green grass that extends to the horizon and the clean air will completely heal the fatigue of daily life. Near the summit is the "Naitai Terrace", which was newly opened in 2019, and you can enjoy the magnificent view of the ranch from the observation terrace.

Yuzo Yamamoto was born in 1887 Meiji 20 in Tochigi Town now Tochigi City, Shimotsuga District, Tochigi Prefecture. After graduating from high school, he was sent to work as an apprentice and worked as a kimono merchant in the family business, but he continued to have a desire to learn and entered the first high school. Then, I entered the Department of German Literature at Tokyo Imperial University. He started out as a playwright in the middle of the Taisho period, and entered the world of novels at the end of the Taisho period, publishing many works such as "The Wave," "A Woman's Life," and "The Truth One Road." In particular, the national work "Roadside Stone" impressed many people. It is one of the best three novels of my lifetime. If you haven't read it, please read it. The Yamamoto Yuzo Furusato Memorial Hall is located near his birthplace, and Kinryuji Temple, where his grave is located, is next to the east.

Nice to meet you! We are the Kimobetsu Tourism Association.
We would like to share the many charms of Kimobetsucho in Hokkaido with everyone watching Cool Japan videos.
This is our first post, so we will briefly introduce Kimobetsu’s history, sightseeing spots, and local specialties.
In future posts we will provide detailed information on events and hidden gem attractions, so please stay tuned.

Kimobetsu has a long history and retains strong influences from Ainu culture.
The town’s name comes from the Ainu word Kim-o-pet, meaning “river with many mountains.”
As the name suggests, Kimobetsu is crossed by 41 rivers of various sizes, including the Shiribetsu River and Kimobetsu River. The town lies at the foothills of MtYotei, a 1,898-meter peak nicknamed Ezo Fuji for its resemblance to Mt. Fuji, and is a nature-rich town about a 1 hour 30 minute drive from Sapporo City.

The annual average temperature is a relatively cold 5.9°C, and the area receives heavy snowfall—sometimes nearly 150 cm. The large day–night temperature swings create a fertile environment for agriculture, and crops grown here are shipped across Japan. Kimobetsu has developed into one of Hokkaido’s leading agricultural regions.

In particular, asparagus is known as one of the places where commercial cultivation began in Japan. Its generous size, crisp yet tender texture, and natural sweetness are exquisite, so be sure to try it.
Other recommended souvenirs include high-quality Baron potatoes and sweet corn.

At Nakayama Pass, Roadside Station Boyou Nakayama offers specialties like age-imo (deep-fried potato) and a restaurant serving dishes made with local ingredients, as well as a shop selling regional products.
From Kimobetsu Town Park you can view both MtYotei and MtShiribetsu and fully experience Kimobetsu’s great outdoors.

Kimobetsu also actively operates an empty house bank as part of municipal initiatives to encourage relocation.
This program makes effective use of vacant homes in town and is available to people hoping to move here, settle permanently, or stay regularly, contributing to local revitalization.
If you are considering relocating to a place with abundant nature, please check Kimobetsu’s official website.

Kimobetsu combines rich nature, tourist attractions, and history, and offers a sense of slow, peaceful time.
You can find a pleasant respite away from the daily hustle and bustle.

Unknown beautiful landscapes, new experiences, and fresh encounters await you in Kimobetsu, Hokkaido.
We will continue to share Kimobetsu’s charms, so please come and visit Kimobetsu!
