Oita Kitsuki Tourism Organization
Jun. 4, 2025
~It's going to be sunny today ☼~ Hello! This is the Kitsuki City Tourism Association. Last time, Kitsuki Castle post the Scene we took a walk around the area. Today we went to the Castle Town area for a while. The photo shows the view from the scenery "Suya Slope" representing Kitsuki City ~ Kitadai Samurai Residence Street ~ Ohara Residence Scene of the mansion and garden. 【Suya Slope】A slope that tells a lot of the town The slope of Suya Slope, which connects the Samurai residence of Kitadai and the merchant town with its impressive earthen walls and stone walls, is a slope with very beautiful stone pavement. Shihoya's slopes are often introduced as a set, and that's no wonder. These two slopes, which represent Kitsuki, are opposite, and if you go down the slope of Shihoya, you will reach the slope of Suya Slope. The origin of the name of the slope is closely related to the merchants of Tanimachi. Shioya Choemon, who ran a liquor store, was a wealthy merchant who prospered greatly in the salt shop (liquor store) that was running at the bottom of the slope from Tanimachi to Minamidai, and then started a vinegar shop business at the bottom of the slope from Tanimachi to Kitadai. The slopes came to be known as "Shioya (Shihoya) no Saka" or "Suya Slope" because of their respective Squid. As you can see from this episode, Saka is deeply connected to this town, Gari not only has it connected life and people, but it also connects the Edo period and the present in this way. Needless to say, the existence of such a slope shines as a valuable personality of Kitsuki. 【Ohara Residence】 A glimpse into the life of a senior samurai in a beautiful old house Kitadai Samurai Residence Street lined with the ruins of the residences of senior samurai. Among them Suya Slope the Ohara Residence next door is a valuable architectural heritage that even now the lifestyle and atmosphere of the residence of a senior samurai who served as an elder and other important positions. It has a splendid thatched roof and a beautiful walking Garden in the large garden. Other, there is a wide entrance, the presence of the next room, the bow ceiling, and the waiya. Far from being glamorous, it is simple and solid, and yet the high level of formality can be seen everywhere, and evidence that this was the residence of a high-ranking samurai of high status is left in every corner of the building. This building is also a space where you can feel and read about the culture of the Edo period, the culture of samurai society, and the care for people. In addition, there are still even now interesting ingenuities, such as the wisdom of valuing things and saving money can be seen in the washing area and the furnace. ☆ The last photo is a service shot. "The Secret of the Earthen Wall" ~ If you look closely, you can see the structure from the broken part. On the way to the walk, that? You may also encounter interesting situations such as "N??". We will be posting like this in the future, so please take a look.

Nagasaki Saikai City Tourism Association
Jun. 4, 2025
This is an announcement from Saikai City Tourism Association about scenic spots in Seihi, Saikai City. Saikai City in Nagasaki Prefecture faces the sea on three sides and offers breathtaking views from its hilltop parks. 1. Hachinokeyama Park Address: 1639 Hirayama-go, Seihi, Saikai City, Nagasaki Prefecture 851-3425 There are various theories about the origin of the name “Hachinengatake.” One story says eight Genji warriors who came chasing Heike fugitives took shelter from a sudden storm in a rock cave but were killed by a landslide; another says eight warriors were wrestling here. From the observation deck you can see the Ajiro Peninsula, shaped like a dragon’s head, and the islands floating in Omura Bay. From the shore outward, the islands appear in this order: Heta-Abo Island → Oki Anbo Island → Tamago Island → Yakeshima Island → Chidori Island → Dojima → Nagashima → Yahazushima Island. Legends of Heike fugitives remain on Tamago Island and Chidori Island. After the Heike defeat at the Battle of Dan-no-ura, Tamayorihime, who was the wife of Taira no Atsumori, her attendant Princess Chidori, and Tamayorihime’s wet nurse Yodo Hime are said to have fled here but been captured. The three women were reportedly separated and housed apart. A stone shrine still stands on Tamago Island, where Tamayorihime is enshrined. On Chidori Island a small natural stone carved with “Spirit of the Plovers” is said to be venerated. Also, Nagashima is known as the birthplace of round pearls. 2. Shihondo Park Address: Shirasaki-go, Seihi, Saikai City, Nagasaki Prefecture 851-3312 This park lies on the western shore of Omura Bay in Seihi. You can enjoy walking among seasonal flowers, camping, and barbecues year-round. The park has an observation deck with stunning views over Omura Bay, and playground equipment for small children. The park also contains historical sites such as Okoshikake-ishi, the stone where Fujiwara Naozumi (the ancestor of the Omura clan) is said to have landed and sat on his way to Omura, and Ochanomizu, a spring where he is said to have drawn water to offer tea, offering a tangible sense of history.

We present seven recommended ways to spend time in Shobara City, Hiroshima Prefecture. Take time to face the mountain colors, the scent of the trees, the murmur of rivers, and the voice of the wind, and cherish moments to look inward as you enjoy how to spend your time in Shobara. 1 Satoyama (Rural Mountain Landscapes) Photo 1: Rice field scenery in Mikawachi Shobara still preserves pastoral landscapes where traditional ways of life persist and many kominka, or old private houses, that retain a nostalgic charm. Seeing how people live here, you feel a surprising sense of nostalgia despite it being your first visit. 2 Healing Photo 2: Kumano Shrine Step into a mysterious shrine precinct deep in the forest, surrounded by countless cedar trees, and ancient cedars older than a thousand years will greet you. As you move forward in awed silence, the fatigue of everyday life seems to wash away little by little. 3 Oishii (Delicious Food) Photo 3: Hiba Beef gourmet Eating fresh, locally sourced ingredients in the place they were harvested is one of this town’s great pleasures. The tender meat of Shobara’s branded Hiba beef, passed down from the oldest local cattle line, paired with crisp vegetables, brings a smile the moment you take a bite. 4 Botanical (Nature and Plants) Photo 4: National Bihoku Hillside Park A blue sky and a sea of flowers feel like stepping into a storybook. The blooms’ colors enchant you and make you eager for the next season. Surrounded by sweet fragrances, let easy conversation flow. 5 Activity Photo 5: Apple picking Pluck a cluster of glossy red apples and take a big bite! The juicy sweetness fills your mouth. Enjoy the different colors and shapes of each variety, and you’ll feel like a child again—so much so you might pick more than you need. 6 Relaxation Photo 6: Staying in a kominka Gentle mountains and clear air set the scene. Sunlight streaming into your lodging slows your sense of time, and the warmth of the wooden house soothes both body and mind. 7 Adventure Photo 7: Shobara Satoyama Rafting Surrounded by vast nature, move forward while feeling the fresh air and the river’s flow. Gripping your paddle, you’ll find yourself swept up in the action. The thrill of descending the river together with everyone is unforgettable.

Hello, this is the Hokuryu Town Sunflower Tourism Association 🌻 This time, we’d like to introduce a little-known hidden scenic spot in town called "Chobo Hill" (Hill of Vistas)! Located a short distance from the town center, this hill is a somewhat special place that, as of now, doesn’t even appear on Google Maps. From the summit, you’ll face a vast sky and panoramic views of Hokuryu spread all around. On clear days, you can even see Mt. Otoe in Fukagawa and the Daisetsuzan National Park. Its appearance changes with the seasons and the hour, offering a different, moving experience each time you visit. Not fully developed as a tourist site, the hill’s quiet, unhurried atmosphere is part of its charm. Accessible only by car and a little inconvenient, it rewards you with a view you can almost have to yourself. Let the breeze brush past and take a deep breath. It’s a lovely spot to zone out and relax for a moment.

Extra Edition: N takamatsu, Kiso District, Nagano Prefecture – “Nezame no Toko” On this day, foodie Kawanishi presents an extra edition‼️ I finally visited Nezame no Toko in Agematsu, Kiso District, a place I’d long wanted to see. Nezame no Toko is counted among Japan’s five great scenic gorges and is designated as a National Scenic Spot!!! Before the Meiji era there were no dams, and the rapids of the Kiso River carved this granite. After dams were built, water diversion lowered the Kiso River’s surface, making the rock formations appear even more massive. It seems the site was designated a National Scenic Spot in 1923 and managed as a prefectural park, and in 2020 it was elevated to part of the Central Alps Quasi-National Park!!! You can enjoy cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in fall—the scenery changes with the seasons. The river’s blue color shows how clear the Kiso River is. Also, surprisingly, there’s an Urashima Taro legend in landlocked Nagano Prefecture!? I’ve been curious about that for a long time. It’s a truly lovely scenic spot and a good workout too! I think you should avoid going right after rain or wearing clothing that hinders movement. I recommend sneakers and clothes you can move easily in!!! Swimming is prohibited, so please be careful. Second-grade elementary school children can make it to Urashima-dō. Why not visit Nezame no Toko with your children to enjoy the beautiful views!? On the way back, I stopped at Michi-no-Eki Hiyoshi Kisokoma Kogen and bought the station’s limited “morokoshi soft-serve” made with milk from Kaida Kogen! A faint, toasty corn aroma spreads through it—this was the most delicious soft-serve I’ve ever tasted!!! Please enjoy it if you can! From time to time, foodie Kawanishi plans to bring you extra editions like this. ◎ Nezame no Toko 📍 Agematsu, Kiso District, Nagano Prefecture ◎ Free parking: Available (check the website below) ◎ Website: https://kiso-hinoki.jp/colibri-wp/tourist/nezamenotoko/...

Kitsuki Castle A landmark towering over the Castle Town Kitsuki Since its construction in 1394, Kitsuki Castle has watched over this town for 600 years. Although it Castle Keep simulated, the three-tiered Castle Keep towering over the Ruins of the Castle is reminiscent of the appearance of this castle in the past. Built in the early Muromachi period by the Kitsuki clan on Mount Tai at the mouth of the Yasaka River, the castle was surrounded by natural strongholds such as the Takayama River to the north and Morie Bay to the east. While the castle changed its location and shape due to subsequent natural disasters and earthquakes, the castle owners were also replaced by the Maeda, Japanese cedar, and Hosokawa clans, and the Ogasawara and Matsudaira clans finally marked the end of the Edo era, and Kitsuki Castle continues to this day without welcoming a new castle owner. It is said to be important for understanding the actual state of castles in the early Edo period, such as understanding the building composition and structure of the castle before its destruction by the "One Country, One Castle Order" from historical documents and excavation results, and in March 2020, the Ruins of the Castle in the Taishan area and the ruins of the Lord's Palace at the foothills were designated as national historic sites. Some of the stone walls still exist. Today, the top of the mountain is open to the public as Shiroyama Park, and there is also a stone park where valuable stone structures such as the Kunisaki Pagoda found in various parts of the city are exhibited outdoors. At the time of the castle's construction, it was named "Kitsuki", but since it was mistakenly written as "Kitsuki" on the shogunate's shuin stamps, it has been changed to "Kitsuki". It is also known as "Katsuyama Castle" because it withstood the onslaught of the Shimazu for two months. Inside the castle, valuable items such as items related to the lords are on display, and armor, weapons, and Buddhist statues are on display. You can also enjoy dressing up and taking commemorative photos. It is visited by many tourists as the final destination of a walk around the Castle Town, and the superb view from the Castle Keep and the comfort of the wind will be a memory of the trip.

The famed hot spring Kawayu Onsen draws its waters from MtAtosanupuri, a name that means “naked mountain” in the Ainu language. True to its name, the mountain’s slopes lack trees, and steam billows from vents with a thunderous roar, creating a dramatic sight.

June is almost here! In Shobara City, Hiroshima Prefecture, blessed with great nature, you can see fireflies. At Hotaru-mi Park in Kuchiwa Town, Shobara City, Hiroshima Prefecture, many visitors gather every year. The fireflies fly from around 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., with a peak 30-minute period from about 9:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. About 300 meters downstream from Hotaru-mi Park there is a spot where Genji fireflies appear. This year’s best viewing time is expected to be later than usual because cherry blossoms bloomed late. Hotaru-mi Park has a campsite, and around July you can see Hime fireflies. Hime fireflies glow more quietly than Genji fireflies, and people who have gone camping at Hotaru-mi Park report the rare experience of seeing many fireflies gather in front of their tents. Hotaru-mi Park has few lights, making it an excellent place for firefly watching. At the “Firefly Viewing Gathering” held on Saturday, June 21, all lights in the management building and campsite will be turned off for one minute starting at 9:00 p.m., so you can enjoy only the fireflies’ glow. You just have to go…! Food trucks and stalls are also planned for the day. It was already 5 o'clock on the Hokuriku Shinkansen to Toyama that day, the weather was very good like going to shoot the sunset, the first time I arrived in Toyama, I was attracted by the train next to the station and decided to sit over, but because the first time I got on the train, I found that I was sitting in the opposite direction, and it was almost dark when I turned back to the station, and I was afraid that I would take the wrong seat again and decided to use it, and after walking for about 10 minutes, I finally caught the beautiful blue hour, and pressed the shutter under the breeze of the spring evening to record this beautiful moment.

Hello 😃 This is Yamanashi Wine Kingdom Senga Falls shop! In early summer at Shosenkyo Gorge, the fresh green leaves sparkle while a cool breeze and the murmuring clear stream soothe the soul. Senga Falls pours down over jagged rock faces in a truly spectacular scene. You are sure to be moved by this work of nature.🍃 And here is a recommendation perfect for this season! We have launched “Delaware Cloudy Sparkling Wine.”🍇🍾 Its fruity, sweet-and-tart flavor spreads pleasantly with gentle bubbles. Chilled, it delivers a refreshing lift that blows away humid heat in an instant. Enjoyed in nature, it will soothe all your senses.☺️ On the terrace we offer a relaxing space where you can feel the river’s babble up close.🌿 There are plenty of photo spots too, so you can capture a memory with cute ornaments or the falls as a backdrop.📸✨ Shosenkyo shows a different face with each season. Please enjoy a special wine moment here alongside the spectacular fresh-green views available only now.♪ We sincerely look forward to your visit 💚

At the ‘‘Kokuei Bihoku Hillside Park’’ in Shobara City, Hiroshima Prefecture—situated almost in the exact center of the Chugoku region—the rose garden has reached peak bloom starting Wednesday, May 21, 2025! Colorful roses are in full bloom, and each one is beautiful. This rose garden was newly established in 2020 on roughly 400 square meters and features 118 varieties and 206 repeat-blooming rose shrubs. To enliven the north area and enhance the garden’s appeal, we began collaborating with rose enthusiasts from Shobara City in July 2024 to improve fertilization, perform detailed pruning, and train plants on arches and fences as part of ongoing cultivation and maintenance. We have added varieties such as Michelangelo and Christian Dior to further enrich the rose garden. The garden is expected to be at its best from mid-May through late July and again from mid-October through late November. Blooming information (as of May 21) Name: Roses Varieties currently in bloom: Peace, Queen Elizabeth, and many others Bloom condition: Peak bloom Blooming period: Mid-May to late July; early October to late November Basic facility information Location: Inside Kokuei Bihoku Hillside Park, Satoyama Station Shobara Furari Address: 4-10 Mikkaichicho, Shobara City, Hiroshima Prefecture 727-0021 Contact: Kokuei Bihoku Hillside Park TEL 0824-72-7000 Website: For details, check the official Kokuei Bihoku Hillside Park website!
