Bansei Natural Flower Garden — Flowering Update Hiougi iris (ヒオウギアヤメ) and Ezo daylilies (エゾカンゾウ) have begun to bloom at Bansei Natural Flower Garden, mainly around the Horokayanto pit-dwelling cluster.

Sightseeing spot introduction Tarumae Garo (Toma Komaki City) The Sightseeing spot in June is Tarumae Garo! Everyone, Garrow? That's right, isn't it? "Gallow" means "a place where a river streams between narrow sheer cliffs." Indeed, here in the Tarumae Garo, the sheer rocks show a unique landscape, and the rock surface is covered with dark green moss, which is like a velvety carpet and is a very beautiful place. It is located in a forest at the foothills of Mt. Mt. [Sunday, July 13] is the day the Ice Tunnel opens A popular spot in Nishiokoppe Village —The Ice Tunnel— This hidden gem can only be seen in summer. Because there is less snow than usual this year the opening will be held not on the final Sunday of July but on the mid-month date of Sunday the 13th! However, sightings of bears or other unavoidable reasons may force the event to be canceled. Last year, although heavy snow had already melted and the tunnel-shaped ice could not be seen, visitors were able to go farther inside than usual and enjoy a special experience. What kind of ice formations will we see this year? A mountain-opening Shinto ceremony to pray for safety took place at the summit of Mt. Tarumae on June 12th. A newly installed information board now includes an English description. Mt. Tarumae stands at 1,041 meters and is considered relatively easy to climb. Some hikers are seen wearing sandals, thin-soled sneakers, or short sleeves and shorts, but we recommend trekking shoes and a windbreaker. (The trails are slippery due to pumice ejected during past eruptions, and strong winds always blow at the summit.)

Introduction to Flowers at Kamu June 6 (Friday) The rain from the previous day had cleared, and the sun showed its face. I went to take pictures of the flowers at the Roadside Station Kamu Flower Park. Hellebores and pulsatillas that bloomed a month ago were bearing fruit, and I spotted buds that are about to open. The park manager kindly told me the names of the flowers, and I created a flower description display. It is posted at the entrance of Kamu, so please take a look! If you want to see the real thing, by all means step into the Flower Park. Strolling while enjoying a soft-serve made from grass-fed milk is also recommended for this season. The guardian deity of the hot spring town at Roadside Station Garden Spa Tokachigawa Onsen, “Ideyu no Iwaza”♨ It is said that a spirit was divided from Yudonosan Shrine and enshrined as the guardian deity of Tokachigawa Onsen. The warm days just keep coming! On days like this, why not visit the Fishway Observation Room, Totoroado? At Totoroado, you can watch fish swimming close by through glass! I visited on June 6th and was able to see cherry trout (sakuramasu) making their way upstream! One of the charms is that different fish migrate at different times of year🐟✨ It's a great spot for families with children! Be sure to stop by Totoroado and take a look♪

The location is Pomu. It’s the building between Nishiokoppe Village Office and Kikuchi Shoten that at first glance looks like a private home. Look for the “We’re Open” sign the children made a little while ago. When I walk around town, I see many different flowers. This time, I found a lily of the valley. Lily of the valley is one of Hokkaido’s representative flowers, and the native species reportedly grows wild in the highlands of Tohoku and Hokkaido. About a dozen small, white, bell-shaped flowers hang from a single stalk. This flower is fragrant, and after blooming it produces a spherical fruit that ripens red, but all parts of the plant are poisonous, so caution is advised. The flowering season is May to June, so I hope they will still be in bloom through the end of this month. An opening event for the Tokutoku Community Center, located next to Shintoku Station, will be held starting at 10:00 AM on Sunday, June 15.
