Hello! This is the Kawazu Tourism Association. Sorry to keep you waiting! The "34th Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival" will finally be held from tomorrow! In this post, we will introduce recommended sightseeing spots when visiting Kawazu Town at the Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival! This time, we will introduce "Amagisan Tunnel former Amagi Tunnel, Amagi Sanzuido". Mt. Amagi, which separates the north and south of the Izu Peninsula, was a major obstacle to transportation. Therefore, a total construction cost of 103,016 yen 44 sen 1 厎 was spent, which was a large amount at that time, and it was opened in Meiji 38 1905 as a tunnel connecting Izu City former Amagi Yugashima Town and Kawazu Town. With the completion of this tunnel, the difficult point of crossing Amagi has been resolved. Today, it is one of the famous places of the Odoriko Trail, and was designated as a national important cultural property for the first time in 2001 Heisei 13 as the longest and oldest stone road in Japan with a width of 4.12 m and a length of 445.5 m. The tunnel is built using a method called the "cut stone winding method", and the stone is made of Yoshida stone from the former Ōhito Town. ◆ Detailed information ◆ 【Spot name】Amagisan Tunnel Old Amagi Tunnel 【Address】National Highway 411 Shimoda Kaido / Amagi Kaido 【Phone number】0558-32-0290 Kawazu Tourism Association 【Parking lot】There is an aquatic underground parking lot for about 17 cars, a second floor waterfall parking lot for about 15 cars

Hakone Ekiden Museum A display of the Hakone yosegi marquetry trophies awarded to the winners of the outbound race is now on view! Since 1997, with the cooperation of the outbound winners from the 73rd race onward, the Hakone Ekiden Museum has exhibited the Tokyo-Hakone University Ekiden outbound victory trophies in the museum’s special exhibition space through Sunday, March 31, 2024. This year marked the 100th anniversary of the Hakone Ekiden, and both the outbound and return legs drew loud cheers from along the course. The runners’ determined efforts to win left a powerful impression. The outbound victory trophies are crafted in Hakone yosegi marquetry, a traditional Hakone craft. Artisans combine woods of different colors to create patterns, so no two pieces are identical. Each trophy is therefore a one-of-a-kind championship cup in the world. Please come and see up close the valuable Hakone yosegi trophies provided for this special exhibition by three schools: Kanagawa University, Toyo University, and Soka University, each representing the races they won. Thatched village in Miyama, Kyoto It is a famous composition and a classic, but it is a place that can be said to be the gateway to Miyama I would like to see this wonderful scenery for many years to come, but when I come to the countryside, I always feel that it can be preserved forever, especially in areas with a large number of elderly people due to the declining birthrate, and I have been to the museum, but it is difficult to maintain it, and I feel that it is very difficult for the people who will inherit this history to pass it on to future generations.

Want to try gold panning in Taiki Town? Gold panning, recently talked about because of the hit movie Golden Kamuy, can still be experienced the old-fashioned way on the Rekifune River in Taiki Town! The peak period for gold recovery on the Rekifune River is said to have been from the 1890s into the Taisho era, roughly the same time when the bullion battles in Golden Kamuy take place. Taiki Town also provided some cooperation for the movie’s gold panning scenes. See if you can spot Taiki Town in the end credits! This year’s gold panning season is scheduled to start around Golden Week. Come and give it a try!
