From around 700 meters, a view that earned two stars in the Michelin Green Guide Japan offers a breathtaking panorama of Sagami Bay, Enoshima, the Miura Peninsula and the Bōsō Peninsula. The autumn foliage near the Happiness Bell and the Love-Tying Bell right by the cable car’s Ōyama-dera Station is especially beautiful now—be sure to ring the bell. Ōyama Afuri Shrine Autumn Grand Festival From Tuesday, August 27 to Thursday, August 29, 2024, this three-day festival gives thanks for safety on the summer mountain and announces the arrival of autumn on Ōyama, continuing a tradition of more than 150 years. On the final day, the 29th, despite typhoon conditions and rain, the shrine office led the "O-nobori"—carrying a portable shrine bearing Afuri Ōkami up the steep "Otoko-zaka" with a maximum slope of about 30 degrees to the lower shrine.

Reiwa 6 Summer Mountain Opening at Ōyama On Saturday, July 27, the summer mountain opening took place, and the climbing gate of Ōyama Afuri Shrine Lower Shrine at the trailhead was opened! This event has continued since the Genroku era, and it is customary for the climbing gate to be opened by “Ohana-kō,” one of the Ōyama pilgrim groups from Nihonbashi, Kodenmacho, Tokyo “Sange, sange (flower scattering), rokkon shōjō (purification of the six roots) — the mountain is clear skies, rokkon shōjō,” as they chant the hanging nenbutsu while ascending straight from the temple lodging to the lower shrine, followed by the gate-opening ritual (from 8:30). Fresh Green MtOoyama: Golden Week Visitor Information The fresh green season is here. Why not come to MtOoyama to relax and rejuvenate? Access to MtOoyama From Odakyu Line Isehara Station North Exit, take bus platform 4 (routes I10 or I11) bound for the Oyama Cable terminus and ride to the last stop (about 30 minutes). If you plan to use the cable car, walk about 15 minutes from the bus terminus to the Oyama Cable Station. After riding the cable car, get off at Oyama-dera Station and walk 3 minutes to Oyama-dera. To reach Oyama Afuri Shrine, get off at Afuri Shrine Station; it is immediately nearby. Note: MtOoyama becomes extremely crowded during the Golden Week fresh green season. The 39th Oyama Mountain Climb Marathon Sunday, March 10, 2024 Opening ceremony 9:00–9:20 at Isehara Elementary School grounds Starts: 10:00 / 10:30 / 11:00 The long-running 39th Oyama Mountain Climb Marathon returns this year! Runners set off from in front of Isehara Station and race along Oyama Shinmichi toward the goal at the lower shrine of MtOoyama Afuri Shrine. The uphill gradually begins around Ishikura Bridge, and the climbing curve in front of Koyasu Myojin Hibita Shrine looks pretty steep. From the old road to Koma Sando and then on the Onnazaka route, if you run—or rather climb—you will reach the goal at the lower shrine of MtOoyama Afuri Shrine. Road restrictions will be in place during the event, so please be careful. Autumn evening. Climb to the top of the mountain at the end of the cable car. The illuminated autumn leaves beautifully wrap the mountainside, and beyond that, a night view floating in the dark night spreads out. The view was truly spectacular.
