The other day around mid-April, I photographed the flowers of the otome camellia otome tsubaki in the Mt. Rokko of Kobe. This Mt. Rokko area has been designated as the Setonaikai National Park and has been a suitable place for recreation and summer retreat since the Meiji era. Mountain villas and recreation centers have been built here and there in the mountains, and there are sightseeing spots such as Rokko Ranch, which is inspired by a mountain ranch in Switzerland, and Arima Onsen, which is counted as one of the three famous springs of pillow grass. The mountains opened by foreigners in the Kobe Settlement have many katakana names such as Cascade Valley a valley of many small waterfalls and Twenty Cross 20 mountain trails, recalling the history of foreigners opening the mountain. By the way, this time the otome camellia was taken at the place of the Japanese name, Otter Pond in Viper Valley. Aside from the Mt. Rokko area where many names from the Edo period remain, such as the Shojo Pond introduced here last year, Otter Pond is ... I wonder if the pond used to be full of otters, and I still look around for signs. The camellia blooming season is almost over, but now the azalea flowers are brightly colored all over the driveway. Animals and plants are rich in nature, Mt. Rokko how about 😊 hiking?

Hello!🙋‍♀️
This is the Shintoku Town Tourism Association.

Next weekend on Sunday, April 30th, the Shintoku Shrine Mountain Cherry Blossom Festival, which was canceled during the COVID-19 pandemic, returns for the first time in four years.

On the day, starting in the morning🌄 at the precincts of Shintoku Shrine⛩, there will be a brass band performance🎷 and a demonstration of the Shintoku Ondo dance, along with a karaoke contest🎤 that includes daring dives, and from midday a thrilling prize raffle🎊.

Around 2,300 Ezo-yamazakura cherry trees🌸 spread across Mt. Shintoku, centered near the shrine grounds, making it one of Hokkaido’s top cherry blossom spots✨. Today the trees are only about 20% in bloom, with some blossoms already open. They may reach peak bloom around the end of the month.

This year, please come and enjoy the mountain cherry blossoms of Shintoku as part of the festival 👀♪♪♪

The morning sun shines from the fresh green of spring... Mt. Rokko in Kobe has been redressed! !! The photo is a morning scene taken near the ridge of the Omote Rokko Driveway in mid-April. I climbed the hill on a road bike, but it was a pleasant cycling that felt moderately sweaty I climbed slowly. Mt. Rokko was opened as a leisure mountain by foreigners in the Meiji era, and Arthur Herkes Groom, who built the first mountain villa, is called the "founder of Mt. Rokko." The first mountain villa was built at a place called Mikuni Pond after climbing the driveway in the photo to the ridge. From there, foreigners and Japan people built mountain villas one after another, forming a village. It seems that there are no mountain villas left from that time now, but you can still see many recreation centers of various companies in the vicinity. Even if you actually climb on a road bike, you can meet foxes, raccoons, woodpeckers, squirrels, moles and monkeys, and you can feel that you have come to nature in a different world from the city. How about 😊 forest bathing for a mental retreat this spring?

With Mt. Iwate, known as "Nanbu Katafuji," in the background, Koiwai Farm's single cherry blossoms stand in a vast meadow. It is an imposing cherry tree with a height of about 20 meters and is said to be more than 100 years old. The sight of a single cherry blossom blooming dignified against the background of the majestic Mt. Iwate where snow remains is said to be a symbol of spring in Shizukuishi Town. The contrast between the colorful cherry blossoms and the lush meadows was enough to see the unique scenery of the farm.

Yubari City, Hokkaido is located in the central Hokkaido region of central Hokkaido and is a city with many attractive sightseeing spots interwoven with nature and history.

When many people hear the name "Yubari City", the words "Yubari Melon" and "Financially Bankrupt City" may come to mind.

Yubari City also once prospered due to the coal industry, one of the main industries of the Japan.
However, as time changed and the demand for coal decreased, Yubari City was affected by it, and by 1990, all the coal mines were closed and the city was in a difficult situation.
After that, it experienced financial collapse in 2007, but now measures are being taken to revitalize the city.

Yubari City has such a history, but it is about 60 minutes from New Chitose Airport, the northern gateway, and about 90 minutes from Sapporo, making it a popular tourist destination.
At the Yubari City Coal Museum, you can learn about the history of the coal industry in Yubari City and learn about the development of Yubari City.
Dynamic exhibitions that utilize actual coal mining sites as tourism resources are popular and have become a place visited by many tourists.

Yubari City is rich in nature as well as from the summit of Mt. Yubari at an altitude of 1,668 meters, and a 360-degree panoramic view spreads out, and you can see the beautiful scenery of the four seasons.
In addition, with the completion of the Yubari Shuparo Dam in 2015, you can enjoy aquatic activities such as canoeing at Lake Shuparo, which has become the fourth largest water reservoir in the Japan.
At the waterfall top park, colorful flowers and trees grow over, and you can feel the four seasons of Yubari City closely.
The "Chidoriga Falls" in the park is a superb view of countless large and small waterfalls and strangely shaped rocks.

If you come to Yubari City for sightseeing, please enjoy gourmet food and masterpieces.
Speaking of Yubari City, Yubari Melon! Why not taste the sweet and juicy Yubari melon in summer?
Yubari potatoes and canned beans are also popular gourmets.

The population was 116,000 in 1960, when coal mining flourished, but today it is less than 7,000.
Yubari City is sometimes compared to a ghost town, but if you actually visit, you can learn about the history of Japan industry and enjoy nature and gourmet food.

After about 16 years since 2007, Yubari City has reached the goal of paying off its debt in four years.
In order for citizens and tourists to come back to Yubari City after paying off their debts, we would like to introduce the attractions such as sightseeing spots and history of Yubari City in the Cool Japan Video!

The seasonal winter road closure on the prefectural road leading to Onneto, the mysterious lake in Ashorocho, was lifted on April 7. Most of Onneto is now ice-free except for a few patches. Please come visit Ashorocho during Golden Week! Note: Onneto is about a 45-minute drive from town. It is colder at the site than in town, so dress warmly. There is no direct public transportation to Onneto, so please use a rental car or other private transport.

Shintoku Tourism Association

Hello!🙋‍♀️ This is the Shintoku Town Tourism Association. Even today, when the cold has returned a little, I went to Shintoku Shrine⛩️ to see the cherry blossoms. Under a cloudy sky🌬️ and with the chill in the air, I wondered if the buds would be smaller, then drove🚗💨 up to the shrine's mid-slope. Peeking at a bud on the same branch as the tree, it didn't seem to have changed much...😓 No, no—the pink color🌸 is deeper and there are more buds than yesterday. When I asked the chief priest standing in front of the shrine office, he said, "Maybe two to three more days." It looks like the cherry trees will be in full bloom this weekend!💓 Right now the azaleas and forsythia are also at their best!✨ #Hokkaido #Tokachi #Shintoku Town #Mount Shintoku #Shintoku Shrine #Ezo-yamazakura (Ezo cherry) #A little more #Forsythia #Karumurasaki azalea #In full bloom
