Butahage Roadside Station Otofuke Branch This popular pork bowl shop, with its main location in Obihiro, served me the pork-soup set. Beyond the delicious pork bowl itself, I loved the pork miso soup filled with chunky vegetables served in a bowl larger than the rice bowl. This dish lets you fully enjoy Otofuke Town’s local soybeans and vegetables. The pork-soup set was sold out before noon. Tokachi’s vegetables are truly delicious, so I hope everyone gets to try them 😊

It is a charming town "Assabu" located in the southern part of Hokkaido! Hokkaido Assabu is focusing on migration and settlement, and we will help you make Assabu a new stage for your life! In this first post, we will introduce Assabu's sightseeing spots, specialties, etc., as well as great deals on moving and settling in Assabu. The Assabu of Hokkaido, which has a population of about 3,500, has low humidity throughout the year and abundant forests with moderate rainfall. Since it is located in the south of Hokkaido, it is relatively warm compared to other areas in Hokkaido, and you can enjoy the atmosphere of the four seasons, and the weather is suitable for sightseeing and migration. The highlight of Assabu is "Quail Dam Auto Campground Hatcham Forest". The expansive green campsite is perfect for getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city and spending some quiet time in the great outdoors. Gaze at the magnificent starry sky of Hokkaido and deepen your bonds with family and friends. In addition, at the Tsuchibashi Nature Observation and Education Forest Reku no Mori, you can observe a wide variety of plants and small animals, and it is a spot that both adults and children can enjoy, such as field athletic recreation camps. Don't miss the specialties of Assabu! Assabu potato "Mae Quinn" is characterized by its unique sweetness and smooth texture, and farmers can enjoy the taste that has been painstakingly done. In addition, Assabu's specialty "black bean tea" uses Assabu specialty large grain light black soybeans, which have rich flavor and excellent health benefits, which are loved by many people. And Ezo Maitake mushrooms, a rare variety made only in Hokkaido, are characterized by their rich umami and high aroma, and can be used in a variety of dishes. Although it will be easy, we have introduced the climate, sightseeing spots, gourmet and specialty information of Assabu! Next, I will tell you about the migration and settlement information of Assabu. The number of people who are considering moving to Assabu is increasing year by year. Assabu has various systems in place to support migrants. First, a migration experience program is offered, allowing you to experience life in the town temporarily. Through this program, you can feel closer to the living environment and community of the town. The Assabu also actively provides job information for migrants. There are a wide range of occupations, from primary industries such as agriculture and forestry to the creation of new businesses that utilize local resources. Migrants are provided with job placement tailored to their individual skills and experience, and can receive support to start a new career. In addition, Assabu provides a variety of assistance schemes to support migrant livelihoods. For example, there are substantial support to improve the quality of life, such as incentives for farmers, gifts for childbirth, and incentives for home ownership. And Assabu nursery schools have a unique system called "Nursery School Study Abroad". This program accepts families raising children who want to study at nursery schools from all over the country and temporarily spends time in the Assabu, so that the whole family can feel the vast nature, local life and culture. Abundant nature, delicious food, a warm community and generous support await you. Currently, many people want to move, but there is a problem that there is a shortage of housing such as vacant houses. If there is anyone who can cooperate or help us to accept many immigrants and permanent residents with the aim of becoming "the most wonderful depopulated city in the world", please contact us! In the future, we would like to send out great deals for Assabu migrants through this SNS! Thank you in advance!

Nice to meet you all! It is a city where the magnificent nature of the southern country and the heartwarming culture live on "Motobucho, Okinawa Prefecture". We will send out information about this town where the rich sea, impressive superb scenery, delicious gourmet food, and the warmth of the people are harmonious! Motobu Town in Okinawa Prefecture is located in the northern part of the main island of Okinawa and is blessed with a warm climate throughout the four seasons. Even in winter, the average temperature is around 18 degrees Celsius, making it a comfortable area to live in throughout the year. Motobu Town in Okinawa Prefecture has many popular sightseeing spots. First of all, I would like to introduce Okinawa's most popular tourist attraction "Churaumi Aquarium". About 740 species of sea creatures are bred here. In the huge tank where you can look up, you can enjoy a magnificent sight of various kinds of fish swimming in the full field of vision, such as dazzling coral reefs, colorful tropical fish, and whale sharks over 8 meters long. This "Churaumi Aquarium" is a facility located in the National Okinawa Memorial Park Ocean Expo Park, and there are also "Tropical Dream Center", "Tropical and Subtropical City Greening Botanical Garden", "Okinawa Folk Village / Omoro Botanical Garden", "Marine Culture Museum / Planetarium", "Sunset Square", etc., where you can see Okinawa's nature and valuable flora and fauna. In addition, the fireworks festival of the "Ocean Expo Park Summer Festival" held in the park every July is the largest in Okinawa Prefecture. When you come to Motobu Town in Okinawa Prefecture, please enjoy the pure white sand and beautiful beaches. "Sesoko Island" is an island with a circumference of about 8 kilometers and is connected to the main island of Okinawa by the Sesoko Bridge with a total length of 762 meters. The view from the bridge is truly superb! The beauty spreads so much that it captivates the heart. At Sesoko Beach on the island, the pure white sand and emerald green sea promise a pleasant day. On Minna Island, a remote island 15 minutes by boat from the main island of Okinawa, you can enjoy swimming and abundant marine activities in the crystal clear sea. A recommended spot for a trip to enjoy Okinawa's nature is the "Fukugi Avenue of Bise". The fukugi trees planted to protect the house from the sea breeze give the illusion of wandering into another world. This fantastic scenery has been featured in many media and magazines. At "Yamazato Cone Karst", you can see conical hills and rocky mountains created by nature, the only one in Japan. Feel the magnificent scenery and air of a work of art. Yaedake, which I will introduce next, is the second highest mountain on the main island of Okinawa and is also known as the spot where cherry blossoms bloom the earliest in Japan. The cherry blossoms begin to bloom in late January, and the cherry blossom festival is also held! Please also enjoy the popular "food" in Motobu Town sightseeing. Motobu Town has a wide variety of delicious gourmet food, and it is a famous area as a Okinawa Soba town. There are more than 70 Okinawa Soba shops in the town that use bonito-based soup stock. More than 20 Okinawa Soba shops are lined up on the Izumi Kaido on Prefectural Route 84, and it is known as the "Soba Kaido" that attracts not only locals but also many tourists. Access to Motobu Town in Okinawa Prefecture is about 2 hours by rental car or bus from Okinawa Naha Airport. Motobu Town has a wide range of accommodation facilities, from resort hotels to guest houses, so you can choose according to your travel style. Since this is my first post, I briefly introduced the charms of Motobu Town in Okinawa Prefecture, but from now on, I will introduce a lot of recommended information about Motobu Town in COOL JAPAN VIDEOS. Please look forward to information on Motobu Town in Okinawa Prefecture, where beautiful nature and heartwarming culture are alive!

Kimobetsu Tourism Association
May. 25, 2023
Nice to meet you! We are the Kimobetsu Tourism Association. We would like to share the many charms of Kimobetsucho in Hokkaido with everyone watching Cool Japan videos. This is our first post, so we will briefly introduce Kimobetsu’s history, sightseeing spots, and local specialties. In future posts we will provide detailed information on events and hidden gem attractions, so please stay tuned. Kimobetsu has a long history and retains strong influences from Ainu culture. The town’s name comes from the Ainu word Kim-o-pet, meaning “river with many mountains.” As the name suggests, Kimobetsu is crossed by 41 rivers of various sizes, including the Shiribetsu River and Kimobetsu River. The town lies at the foothills of MtYotei, a 1,898-meter peak nicknamed Ezo Fuji for its resemblance to Mt. Fuji, and is a nature-rich town about a 1 hour 30 minute drive from Sapporo City. The annual average temperature is a relatively cold 5.9°C, and the area receives heavy snowfall—sometimes nearly 150 cm. The large day–night temperature swings create a fertile environment for agriculture, and crops grown here are shipped across Japan. Kimobetsu has developed into one of Hokkaido’s leading agricultural regions. In particular, asparagus is known as one of the places where commercial cultivation began in Japan. Its generous size, crisp yet tender texture, and natural sweetness are exquisite, so be sure to try it. Other recommended souvenirs include high-quality Baron potatoes and sweet corn. At Nakayama Pass, Roadside Station Boyou Nakayama offers specialties like age-imo (deep-fried potato) and a restaurant serving dishes made with local ingredients, as well as a shop selling regional products. From Kimobetsu Town Park you can view both MtYotei and MtShiribetsu and fully experience Kimobetsu’s great outdoors. Kimobetsu also actively operates an empty house bank as part of municipal initiatives to encourage relocation. This program makes effective use of vacant homes in town and is available to people hoping to move here, settle permanently, or stay regularly, contributing to local revitalization. If you are considering relocating to a place with abundant nature, please check Kimobetsu’s official website. Kimobetsu combines rich nature, tourist attractions, and history, and offers a sense of slow, peaceful time. You can find a pleasant respite away from the daily hustle and bustle. Unknown beautiful landscapes, new experiences, and fresh encounters await you in Kimobetsu, Hokkaido. We will continue to share Kimobetsu’s charms, so please come and visit Kimobetsu!

Bibai Tourism and Products Association
May. 21, 2023
Bibai Tourism and Products Association. "Bibai City, Hokkaido" is visited by many tourists for its abundant nature, mild climate, and delicious food. From now on, I would like to introduce the charm of Bibai City in COOL JAPAN VIDEOS! First of all, Bibai City is read as "Bibaishi" and is located between Sapporo City and Asahikawa City, and is located within about one hour from both cities. Bibai City is served by National Route 12 connecting Sapporo and Asahikawa, and the section from Bibai City to Takikawa City is a straight road that continues all the way, and there is a road that boasts the longest straight-line distance in Japan. As for the weather and climate of Bibai City, a refreshing breeze blows through in spring, a cool climate continues in summer, and beautiful snowscapes spread out in winter. You can enjoy the atmosphere of the four seasons, and the beauty of each season brings new discoveries every time you visit. Introducing popular tourist spots in Bibai City! First of all, Miyajima Swamp is one of the world's leading spots where you can see migratory birds such as geese and swans. It is located about 30 minutes by bus from JR Bibai Station, and every year about 70,000 birds come from Russia far north of Hokkaido in spring and autumn. Especially in the early morning and evening, when you can see the herd, the sight of the sky and swamps filled in black is a masterpiece. In addition, the "Coal Mine Memorial Forest Park" is a tourist attraction not to be missed. Bibai City once flourished from coal mining. In this park, which was built on the site of the former coal mine, you can see a tower that transports coal from deep underground, and a raw coal pocket for storing coal. As a valuable tourist spot where the memories of the coal miners of the past coexist with the nature of the present, it was 2007 Heisei 19 selected as an "Industrial Heritage of Modernization". Next is "KAN YASUDA SCULPTURE MUSEUM ARTE PIAZZA BIBAI". The works of world-renowned sculptor Kan Yasuda are exhibited here. His works blend in with the surrounding landscape, as if they were one with nature, providing peace and emotion to visitors. At Tomei Park, a vast park located in a hilly area, 2,000 cherry trees bloom during the cherry blossom season, and the "Bibai Cherry Blossom Festival" is held, and it is a popular tourist spot where you can enjoy the illuminated cherry blossoms at night. And at the "Bibai City Experience Exchange Center", even first-time visitors can easily experience pottery such as pottery and painting, and can be enjoyed by both children and adults. The last thing I would like to introduce is "Sorachi Shrine". This shrine is watched over by an old tree that is over 900 years old, and you can experience "making bangle protection" from natural stone. On your trip to Bibai City, please enjoy delicious meals. In particular, Bibai City's "Bibai Yakitori" is a local gourmet that you can't miss. It is one of the seven major yakitori in Japan, and is made by skewering chicken, chicken liver, inner eggs, gizzards, and onions. As a local soul food, it is a popular gourmet for a wide range of generations from children to adults. Please try it when you come to Bibai. And "Torimeshi" It is a local dish that has been passed down for more than 100 years, and because rice, stir-fried meat, and motsu are cooked with soy sauce, sugar, and sake, and almost no other ingredients or seasonings are used, the aroma and taste have a strong chicken flavor, and it has a taste different from other mixed rice. We look forward to welcoming you with rich natural scenery, sightseeing spots where you can feel history and culture, delicious food, and warm hospitality! Stay tuned for future posts!

Located in Kurihama, Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture, we will introduce "Kurihama Flower Park" and "Jogashima" and "Misakicho" a little further away. Kurihama Flower Park has flowers, trees, herbs, playground equipment and Godzilla. During Golden Week, poppies and nemophila are in full bloom, and you can feel very vivid and refreshing when you take a picture. The bees were also happy to fly around. In addition, it seems to be a spot where cosmos blooms all over the place and sunflowers bloom every season, and you can enjoy it many times every season. Jogashima is about 20 minutes by car from the Kurihama Flower Park. You can see the sea right away, and it is a place where tuna bowls are so famous that no matter where you walk, tuna bowls are sold. I don't have a photo because I haven't eaten it. The regional cat is relaxed and relaxed. In Jogashima Park, you can walk along the spreading rocky area. As you approach the rocky area, the smell of thick tide wafts in the air, making you feel summer. There was a gorgeous parfait, octopus rice crackers and dried fish were sold, and it looked delicious. If you cross from Jogashima to land, you will become Misaki Town. The cityscape makes you feel the atmosphere and playfulness of a port town in some places, and just walking around is exciting. I saw many tourists traveling by rental bicycle. The recommended spot is Misaki Donut. It is a fluffy light donut with a wide variety of pistachios, orange chocolate, white earl grey, etc. The donuts lined up in the showcase are cute, and I am happy to choose them. I ate it to take home and it was meltingly delicious. There was also an eat-in space. In addition, I felt that Misaki Town is a town where various parts of tuna are cut in various ways and sold cheaply in large packs, locally harvested vegetables are sold, and you can meet handsome seamen on boats. By all means! Why don't you go!

Tomakomai Tourism Association
Apr. 21, 2023
Hello viewers of Cool Japan Videos, this is the Tomakomai Tourism Association.

On this account, we’ll introduce the many attractive tourist spots of Tomakomai City, one of Japan’s leading industrial cities and the largest port town in Hokkaido.

Tomakomai is very easy to reach: about a 90-minute drive from Sapporo City and about a 30-minute drive from New Chitose Airport.
When you visit, rental bicycles are available, so we recommend touring while feeling the great outdoors on your skin.

Now, let us introduce Tomakomai City’s proud sightseeing spots.

■ Mt. Tarumae
Designated a natural monument of Hokkaido, this stratovolcano features a globally famous double rim.
You can drive up to the 7th station, and from there it’s about a 50-minute hike to the summit, making it an easy climb to enjoy sweeping views and alpine plants.

■ Midorigaoka Park
From the observation deck on the hilltop plaza, you can take in panoramic views of Tomakomai City.
With fountains and flowerbeds, plus an athletics stadium and a rugby field, many people use it as an outdoor sports park.

■ Kin-Dainuma Park
Centered on Lake Kin-Dainuma, which has a 1.6-kilometer shoreline, the park is surrounded by pristine nature.
You can enjoy facilities year-round, including Arten, one of Japan’s largest auto campgrounds, a canoe base, a park golf course, and the Yunomi no Yu bathing facility.

■ Northern Horse Park
A popular spot where visitors can interact with horses.
You can experience horseback riding, guided pony rides, horse-drawn carriage rides, sleigh rides, riding lessons, the Happy Pony Show, and horse trekking.

Next, we’ll introduce some of the popular local gourmet treats that are one of the pleasures of visiting Tomakomai.

Tomakomai City boasts the largest catch of surf clams (hokkigai) in Japan, often called the king of shellfish.
While they’re known as a premium sushi topping, in Tomakomai you can buy them casually.
As a port town, there’s also plenty of seafood like salmon and atka mackerel, plus local specialties such as haskap berries, Tomakomai ramen, haskap-based sweets called yoitomake, Tarumae jingisukan (grilled mutton), and hokki curry—popular flavors you should try when sightseeing.

We’ll continue to share many more recommended Tomakomai attractions that we couldn’t fit into this post, so please look forward to them!

Yubari Tourism Association
Apr. 18, 2023
Yubari City, Hokkaido is located in the central Hokkaido region of central Hokkaido and is a city with many attractive sightseeing spots interwoven with nature and history. When many people hear the name "Yubari City", the words "Yubari Melon" and "Financially Bankrupt City" may come to mind. Yubari City also once prospered due to the coal industry, one of the main industries of the Japan. However, as time changed and the demand for coal decreased, Yubari City was affected by it, and by 1990, all the coal mines were closed and the city was in a difficult situation. After that, it experienced financial collapse in 2007, but now measures are being taken to revitalize the city. Yubari City has such a history, but it is about 60 minutes from New Chitose Airport, the northern gateway, and about 90 minutes from Sapporo, making it a popular tourist destination. At the Yubari City Coal Museum, you can learn about the history of the coal industry in Yubari City and learn about the development of Yubari City. Dynamic exhibitions that utilize actual coal mining sites as tourism resources are popular and have become a place visited by many tourists. Yubari City is rich in nature as well as from the summit of Mt. Yubari at an altitude of 1,668 meters, and a 360-degree panoramic view spreads out, and you can see the beautiful scenery of the four seasons. In addition, with the completion of the Yubari Shuparo Dam in 2015, you can enjoy aquatic activities such as canoeing at Lake Shuparo, which has become the fourth largest water reservoir in the Japan. At the waterfall top park, colorful flowers and trees grow over, and you can feel the four seasons of Yubari City closely. The "Chidoriga Falls" in the park is a superb view of countless large and small waterfalls and strangely shaped rocks. If you come to Yubari City for sightseeing, please enjoy gourmet food and masterpieces. Speaking of Yubari City, Yubari Melon! Why not taste the sweet and juicy Yubari melon in summer? Yubari potatoes and canned beans are also popular gourmets. The population was 116,000 in 1960, when coal mining flourished, but today it is less than 7,000. Yubari City is sometimes compared to a ghost town, but if you actually visit, you can learn about the history of Japan industry and enjoy nature and gourmet food. After about 16 years since 2007, Yubari City has reached the goal of paying off its debt in four years. In order for citizens and tourists to come back to Yubari City after paying off their debts, we would like to introduce the attractions such as sightseeing spots and history of Yubari City in the Cool Japan Video!

Lake Mashu Tourism Association
Apr. 18, 2023
Hello everyone! This is the Mashu Lake Tourism Association. We will introduce many highlights and ways to enjoy Teshikaga in Hokkaido to viewers of Cool Japan Video! First, can everyone read the name "Teshikaga"? It is pronounced "Teshikaga". When people think of Hokkaido, Lake Mashu and Lake Kussharo come to mind as popular spots visited by many tourists, and both lakes are located in Teshikaga. Lake Mashu spreads out in a deep blue and is known as the sacred lake. Its blue surface is called Mashu Blue and boasts the highest transparency in Japan and ranks among the world’s very clearest lakes. To fully enjoy this beautiful lake surface, we recommend visiting the observatories. The Lake Mashu First Observatory is the most popular lookout, attracting about one million visitors a year. It has a large parking lot and rest house with restrooms, so you can stop by to take a break. The Lake Mashu Third Observatory and Uramashu Observatory also offer free parking and let you see different faces of Lake Mashu. From the Lake Mashu First Observatory and the Lake Mashu Third Observatory, when luck and weather conditions are favorable, the entire lake can be covered in fog, and the settled mist can appear as a sea of clouds. Lake Kussharo is one of the world’s largest caldera lakes and the largest caldera lake in Japan (a lake formed when a volcanic crater filled with water after an eruption). Numerous natural hot springs gush out along the lakeshore, so you can enjoy hot springs in open-air baths and saunas that make the most of nature, as well as in large hotels. In summer you can fully enjoy water sports such as camping, canoeing, and sailing. Across the great outdoors of Teshikaga you can also enjoy activities like horseback riding, golf, fishing, cycling, and dairy farm experiences. When you visit Teshikaga, please also savor the town’s local specialties and gourmet foods. These include Mashu Soba, known as the prized "phantom soba" for its careful quality; Mashu Melon, in season from early to late August; potatoes packed with the bounty of the land; and popular products from Teshikaga farms such as Mashu Pork and Mashu Wagyu. Teshikaga in Hokkaido is conveniently accessible by car—about 75 minutes from Kushiro Airport and about 70 minutes from Memanbetsu Airport. Please come and enjoy the vast nature of Teshikaga. Through Cool Japan Video, we will continue to bring you attractions and travel information about Teshikaga, Lake Mashu, and Lake Kussharo, so please follow us if you like!

That's really impressive! Age is just a number and it's great to see someone who is 60+ years old still passionate about cooking and sharing their skills with others. Making Indian Dessert malpua in the Indian style requires skill and patience. The batter is made with flour, semolina, and sugar, and then flavored with cardamom, saffron, and sometimes fennel seeds. The batter is then fried in ghee or oil until golden brown and crispy. To make Indian Style malpua, the following ingredients and steps can be followed: Ingredients: 1 cup all-purpose flour 1/4 cup semolina 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp cardamom powder A pinch of saffron 1 cup milk Ghee or oil for frying Steps: In a bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, semolina, sugar, baking powder, cardamom powder, and saffron. Slowly pour in the milk and whisk until you have a smooth batter. Let the batter rest for 10 minutes. Heat some ghee or oil in a pan. Once hot, spoon a ladleful of batter into the pan and spread it into a thin disc. Fry the malpua until it turns golden brown on both sides. Remove from the pan and drain on a paper towel. Repeat with the remaining batter. Serve hot and enjoy! It's great to see someone continuing to pursue their passion and share their skills with others. I'm sure your street food malpua is delicious and appreciated by many!
