Culture Night Friday, July 25 At the Forest Museum Komu, the yearly Culture Night took place. Normally Komu closes at 5:00 PM, but for this night only it stayed open until 8:00 PM. Since people usually visit Komu during daylight hours, entering the museum at night felt like sneaking into school—full of excitement. That evening, not only the young children who often use Komu but also middle school students who came to see their friends from the brass band and many adults arrived one after another. For some locals who live nearby but rarely stop by these days, it was a rare chance to step into Komu again. Inside the building, the Nishiokoppe Junior High School brass band performed, and the puppet-theater group Doremi staged “The Mischievous Ghost Kenmun.” Among the performances, a trio by three third-year brass-band students left a strong impression. Trumpet, horn, and euphonium. Each instrument had its highlight passages, and their overlapping harmonies were very beautiful. The puppet show put on by village volunteers collaborated with lighting to create a vivid, immersive performance. After the shows, there was time to interact with the puppets and instruments. The children who played until they were drenched in sweat likely slept soundly that night. We look forward to next year’s Culture Night. #Nishiokoppe Village #Hokkaido #Forest Museum Komu #Culture Night #mokuiiku (wood learning) #brass band #puppet theater

[A large gathering in a tree dream until night! ] 】 Held every year in July, Kimu Culture Night. Extending the closing time to 8 p.m. From children to adults, non-Village residents can enter for free. This year, it coincided with the morning class day for elementary school students. It was lively after noon. The children were gathered Workshop on making puppets and to experience the behind-the-scenes of puppet shows. Children use work gloves to make dolls such as cats and rabbits. When the shape is formed, the decoration is made with cloth or felt. It is a doll making that exceeded the expectations of the organizers, but it was exciting. In addition, the puppet show started Nature with the puppets I made. It was a venue full of smiles. Elementary school students in the upper grades showed interest in the musical instruments used in the puppet show. They helped me set the stage for the puppet show at night. Even the lighting settings... Reliable! And at night, a performance by the Nishinaka brass band and Performed by the puppet theater Circle Doremi. The music, the dolls' voices, and the children's voices A night of resounding tree dreams. available for a wonderful time! #Komu Museum of Art #Nishiokoppe Village #Culture Night #Open until night #Puppet Theater Circle Doremi #Nishinaka Brass Band Club #Children's Theater #Gun Hand Puppets

Halloween Fun!! Before we knew it, November had arrived. There are less than two months left in the year. Here is a report on the “Ha”lloween event held in Nishiokoppe Village on October 28. The puppet-theater group Doremi and ALT families decorated the venue from the day before, eager to delight the children. The ALT families’ game corner was a big hit, featuring tattoo stickers that leave color on the skin if pressed for ten seconds and pumpkin-rolling bowling. During the puppet show, a scene with darts prompted the audience to throw candy. We worried in rehearsal whether the candy would stick and whether everyone would throw, but we were glad so much candy stuck! Children carried bags they had decorated themselves and went around the spots at the end to collect candy. We’re already looking forward to next year’s Halloween!

The other day, I went to Hachihaku with a group of new students. The official name of "Hachihaku" is "Kuwato Japan Heritage Center Hachioji Museum", and it is a museum where you can learn about the culture and history of Hachioji. At "Hachihaku", we had a car doll experience and weaving experience. Since it is located right in front of Hachioji Station, it seems to be very popular as a facility that you can easily go to.
