I shot aerial footage of Gujo Hachiman Castle in autumn. It was my first visit to Gujo Hachiman Castle. The autumn colors had passed their peak and many leaves had faded, but an unexpected mist gave the scene a great atmosphere. Deep in the autumn forest, the Twin Towers sway in the shadow of the trees. A colored leaf drifts down, and the hush of distant memories gently unfolds.

Autumn leaves are often seen during the day, but I wanted to capture the night-time foliage lit up by lights, so I took these photos. The remaining green created a pleasing contrast, and I feel I managed to capture a truly Japanese autumn. This spot is Kouchi Valley in Tsu City, Mie Prefecture, which draws many visitors during the autumn leaf season. Although it’s fairly close to my home, I had never been until I took up photography as a hobby and felt the urge to preserve it in pictures, and I was able to shoot without any people appearing in the frame. I take photos mainly for my own satisfaction, but I would be thrilled if they resonated with someone else.
