Did you have a good summer? Activities in Japan had been restricted for quite some time. People in Japan were finally once again able to enjoy the events and other activities that they had previously taken for granted.
Through the entries we received this year, we were able to understand what Summer in Japan means to everyone.
For this photo contest, we have selected winning photos from among those that are dramatic and dynamic, those that evoke feelings of joy and nostalgia, and those that depict summer scenes that make you wish you could be there.
We will continue to hold COOL JAPAN VIDEOS Photo Contests on a regular basis, and we look forward to your future participation.
We hope that by sharing information about Japan, more and more people will learn about Japan's charms and people from all over the world will come to visit Japan.

A father and son walking with their dog are reflected on the surface of a rice field in this beautiful work. The sweeping landscape of rice fields and the setting sun is somehow nostalgic. We have selected this photo, through which you can almost hear the sounds of the insects and frogs, as an Honorable Mention.
This is a nostalgic picture for those born during Japan's Showa period (1926-1989) and an emotional picture for those born in the Heisei period (1989-2019). We have selected this photo as an Honorable Mention because it captures a summertime scene that most Japanese people alive today would see and feel nostalgic about.
Even if the hot summers in Japan have you feeling exhausted, seeing smiles like this is sure to cheer you up. If you look closely, you'll notice the sunflower is smiling too! The slight angle adds to the photo's playful composition. We have selected this work as an Honorable Mention, as it would make a good postcard to express our best wishes to everyone during the hot summer season.
Some 300 cows and horses graze on the 1,000 acre Utsukushigahara Farm. Cows grazing in the vast pasture, mountains in the distance, and blue skies... It's a tranquil scene, but one with a beautiful contrast of green and blue. We have selected this work as an Honorable Mention because it makes you want to visit it just to enjoy a deep breath of fresh air.
