We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who posted their photos of summer in Japan.
The number of people infected with the novel coronavirus was the highest it has ever been, and the entire country was under a state of emergency this summer.
Despite this fact, our judging staff had a lot of fun selecting the winning photos and even going through the photos that didn't quite make the cut. All of them were full of the charms of summer in Japan.
We will continue to hold the COOL JAPAN VIDEOS photo contests on a regular basis.
We hope that more and more people will learn about the charms of Japan through the information that everyone is contributing, and that those people will visit Japan after the coronavirus has ended.

Red Fuji has been said to bring good luck since ancient times, but it is a very rare sight quite difficult to see.
We would like to award an honorable mention to this photo of the rare Red Fuji, which captures a priceless moment in time.

This is what our judging team imagined when we saw this photo.
This photo reminded us of the adventurous spirits we had as children.
A young boy enthusiastically catching insects 'til dusk.
We chose this photo as we think it truly symbolizes the theme "Summer in Japan."
The contrast between the green terraced rice fields, where rice seedlings have been grown, and the bright blue sea at the foot of the fields is beautiful and gives the photo a uniquely Japanese feel.
The photo gives a sense of the original summer landscapes of Japan, and as such, was selected as an honorable mention.
You can almost hear their lively voices.

It is also known as the "Water Throwing Festival" because people splash water around to beat the heat.
We were very impressed by the dynamism and the smiles of the participants splashing water on each other in the photo.
