The refreshing sound of the wind chimes carries the wishes for the family. I captured a tranquil moment that embodies the essence of a Japanese summer.

I visited the sunflower field at Shioya no Hatake in SakaiIyoku, Isesaki City, Gunma Prefecture. ᡣ( ᐢ ᵕ ᐢ )✨ The vast expanse of sunflowers looked like a yellow carpet ◝(*'▿'*)◜✨ The contrast with the blue sky was beautiful, making it the perfect spot to feel the essence of summer. Nishiwaki in the center of Hyogo prefecture proudly proclaims itself "The Navel of Japan." Being a bellybutton seems a little unflattering, but it is actually a hotly disputed title, since Shibukawa in Gunma prefecture contests the title with its own Navel festival, complete with painted stomachs. Weird. Nishiwaki itself has a "navel park", complete with monument, but thankfully has a lot more to indicate than its name or its relative geographic remoteness would indicate. A nice science museum and observatory is available, and the staff are very kind with on-hand demonstrations and explanations. A multipurpose community center "Mirai-e" has a large children's play area stocked with a very unusual amount of wooden toys from Sweden. If you are looking for something more cultural, Nishiwaki is a center of the Banshu-ori textile tradition, making it one of the best places to get cotton products that are grown in Japan.

This is Hanadaka Flower Hill Lookout in Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture. This time, we showcase the autumn cosmos fields. In the background is Mt. Akagi. Being on a hill allows for a great view of the surroundings. As seasonal flowers are planted, the scenery changes, adding to the excitement.

At the Akagi Kogen Service Area on the downbound side of the Kanetsu Expressway, there is a park behind the shops. In spring, there are spots where tulips and other flowers are planted. On clear days, you can see the snow-capped Mt. Komagatake and Mt. Hotaka. While walking in the park, I spotted the snow-covered Mt. Komagatake between the red and white cherry blossoms.

The weeping cherry blossoms in Kamihocchimachi, Numata City, Gunma Prefecture. They are located on a mound, with a Jizo statue at the base, and in the background, you can see the remaining snow on Joshu Hotaka Mountain. This is one of my favorite photography spots. The weeping cherry blossom, known as Hatsuchi no Jizo Zakura, is in full bloom. On a clear day, the Jizo statue served as a model for my photos. The parking area is small, making it a landscape in the satoyama that I wish to cherish.

I took this photo at the Akagi Kogen Service Area on the Kan-etsu Expressway. I happened to stop by and was able to see the beautiful Joshu Hotakayama and Komagatake with their remaining snow. I included the cherry blossoms that were blooming at the service area in the shot. It turned out to be a photo that captures the feeling of "the arrival of spring."

A Yoshi burning event heralding spring took place in Oramachi, Tatebayashi City, Gunma Prefecture. The Yoshi burning at Tatara Swamp is impressive as it can be viewed up close. We felt the heat of the flames while capturing photos, covered in soot. Tatara Swamp is also famous as a stopover for swans, but this year, perhaps due to the warm weather, there were hardly any swans present. However, egrets, ducks, and weasels were seen scurrying around.

A cluster amaryllis photographed at Onrin-ji Temple in Oramachi, Ōra District, Gunma Prefecture. It was my first visit this year, and the flowers were so beautiful that the area truly lives up to its longtime reputation as the village of cluster amaryllis. Several stone Buddhas stand there, and in one photo one seemed to be saying, “The world is content.”
