Enoshima Okutsumiya Hanakairō
Early morning in Enoshima. This is Okutsumiya Hanakairō, located in the innermost area of Enoshima.
A pleasant sea breeze swayed the flowers, and sunlight began to filter through the still-dark forest.

Fukoji Temple's Hydrangeas
❚ Blooming Status as of June 17, 2026
Fukoji Temple, located in Asaji Town, Bungoono City, Oita Prefecture, is also famous as a tourist spot for hydrangeas.
Currently, the hydrangeas are in full bloom.
Some of the early-blooming flowers have started to wilt a bit.

❚ Fukoji Temple
The rock-carved Buddha in the temple grounds is approximately 11 meters tall, including its pedestal, making it one of the largest rock-carved Buddhas in Japan. The central figure is Fudo Myoo (Fudo Myo-o). Fudo Myoo is depicted with an angry expression, but this rock-carved Buddha has weathered the elements for many years and now has a round, gentle face. Although it is a large Fudo Myoo, it has a very friendly appearance.
Fukoji Temple is also known as "Hydrangea Temple" due to the numerous hydrangeas planted there. During the rainy season, you can see many blooming hydrangeas alongside the rock-carved Buddha.
The hydrangeas are cared for by the temple and the local community.

In June, Kagawa Prefecture not only boasts the azure scenery of the Seto Inland Sea but also welcomes the blooming season of hydrangeas at Mt. Shiude in Mitoyo City. As you slowly ascend the winding mountain road, you can see blue, purple, and pink hydrangeas adorning both sides of the path, as if draping a soft colorful garment over early summer.

Upon reaching the observation deck at the summit, the breathtaking view unfolds before you. Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan, is actually surrounded by many small lakes that resemble satellites, and Pinghu is one of them. However, only fishermen are aware of its existence, so in spring, you can leisurely enjoy cherry blossom viewing while taking in the sight of the giant cherry trees that encircle the lake, all while being gently blown by the lake breeze.

In Koka City, Shiga Prefecture, there is a beautiful area where 600 cherry blossom trees line both banks of a clear stream. It's a tranquil spot, perfect for leisurely cherry blossom viewing, and the view from the center of the pedestrian bridge is fantastic.

This is the light purple Kitayama Yuzen Chrysanthemum blooming in the Hisada District of Sakyo Ward, Kyoto. It is a beautiful flower that only blooms in this area around mid-July, and the view at sunrise is breathtaking.

Umekita Plaza at Grand Green Osaka

As you step into Umekita Park, the first thing that catches your eye is the "large roof" designed by the architectural unit SANAA. It envelops the space with three soft curves spanning 120 meters from north to south, beneath which lies a complex facility featuring the information dissemination center "PLAT UMEKITA," along with cafes and large event spaces. Surrounding it is the spiral staircase "Gate Lantern," which serves as a guiding light for people at night.
The plants in the park are primarily selected from those native to the Uemachi Plateau in Osaka, evoking the city's history and culture. Trees that change color in autumn, such as cherry blossoms, maple trees, and katsura, along with flowers like azaleas and camellias, showcase the beauty of Japanese nature throughout the seasons. Why not take a leisurely stroll in the park, where the scenery changes with the seasons?

For those who want to enjoy a refreshing atmosphere,
Kourakuen, a pure Japanese garden behind Hotel Morimu, is highly recommended.

The spring foliage and azaleas stand out beautifully against the greenery.

The white flowers are called Asebi.
Written in kanji, it is 「馬酔木」.

The leaves are toxic, and horses that eat them can become numb in their legs and have difficulty walking. This is how it got the name Asebi.

The gazebo within the garden is perfect for potluck picnics or leisurely tea time.

The sound of leaves rustling in the breeze and the chirping of little birds will soothe your ears.
