First of all, the way to read Shakotan is "Shakotan". Hokkaido Shakotan-gun Shakotan occupies the tip of the Shakotan Peninsula in the Sea of Japan to the west of Hokkaido, and is a city with beautiful coastline, rich nature, fresh seafood, and a spectacular view of the "Shakotan Blue" sea, which shines blue like a jewel throughout the four seasons. In Shakotan, there are fishing ports such as Bikuni, Irika and Yobetsu, and herring fishing flourished until the Taisho period. Let's take a look at some of the most popular sightseeing spots in Shakotan, which is rich in nature. The symbol of the Shakotan Peninsula, "Golden Cape", is characterized by its beautiful precipitous cliffs.
