【Summer Festival with Swaying Lanterns】 Many of you may have already seen it. The summer version display inside Komu! From the parking lot outside, you can see the lantern decorations swaying in the small window. Lanterns are also hanging from the ceiling inside the building, and fireworks are displayed on the walls. (Amidst them, Setoushi-kun was launched 🎆) You can enjoy games like ring toss, shooting, goldfish scooping, and watermelon catching, experiencing the fun of the festival. When I visited Komu, the kids were running the stalls while their fathers played customers. The quality of the handmade ice creams lined up at the ice cream shop is incredible, so I hope you take a good look at them...! The original fan featuring Setoushi-kun is also cute. Before summer ends, please come and visit us! - 【Forest Art Museum "Komu"】 Opening hours: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM *Admission is accepted until 4:30 PM Closed: Every Tuesday Admission fee: High school students and above: 500 yen 4th grade elementary to middle school students: 300 yen Children aged 3 to 3rd grade: 100 yen Children under 3: Free Contact: 0158-87-2600 #Nishiokoppe Village #Komu #Summer Festival #Indoor Display #Yen Festival

Notice: Local junior high students made POP displays and recycled bags ✨ Second-year students from Iwanai Daiichi Junior High School brought handmade POPs, posters, and recycled bags to the Roadside Station as part of their Integrated Studies project — “A Plan to Revitalize Iwanai-cho.” For the POPs and posters, they asked themselves, “What information do customers really want?” They researched popular products and created the materials accordingly ✨ The illustrations and English labels show lots of thoughtful touches, and everything is very easy to read! And here’s a highlight 🐟 The Tarumaru illustration on the recycled bags is a work by Idobata, who won the Kida Kinjiro Prize at the ongoing “Hometown Children’s Art Exhibition” held at the Kida Kinjiro Museum of Art ✨ These limited special-design bags are not to be missed! 🎉 If you visit the Roadside Station, please pick one up and take a look 😊

A tiny bird even smaller than a sparrow, with round, charming eyes—the subspecies of long-tailed tit known as the shiraneaga (shimaenaga). Found only in Hokkaido, this wild bird is beloved by birdwatchers and nicknamed the "snow fairy." In winter it grows a fluffy, pure-white plumage and looks just like a snowball! It mainly lives in forests and woodlands; with leaves gone in winter it becomes easier to spot, and it is often seen along the Lake Utonai lakeside. (Image courtesy of Roadside Station Utonai Lake)

Tomachop at the tourist information center has transformed from the female hina doll to the male hina doll ✨ Doesn’t he look sharp and handsome? I’ve lined up images of the female hina doll version from just the other day 🌸 Did you know: In Hokkaido, like in the Kanto region, the female hina doll is placed on the viewer’s right and the male on the viewer’s left. 🎎 I’ve heard that in places like Kyoto, the positions of the male and female hina dolls are reversed 🌸
