Hello! Today, I would like to introduce a little bit of the autumn and winter scenery of Shakotan. When the summer season of June ~ August ends, the number of customers drops sharply in Shakotan, but for those who want to go sightseeing slowly and calmly rather than the crowded summer season ~ we recommend sightseeing after September. If the weather is good and the sun is out, it is not as Squid as the summer season, but you can see the beautiful color of the sea of Shakotan Roux. In front of the cape, pampas grass shines, and there is also an autumn scenery such as a larch highway like a movie location and a landscape with silos. Also, in winter, the waves crashing against the rocks are so beautiful that they are sometimes compared to ink paintings. Sometimes a cat greets you in front of an old stone warehouse in the port, and I hope you can enjoy the scenery of Shakotan not only in the summer season.

Nice to meet everyone who watched the COOL JAPAN VIDEOS! Shakotan Tourism Association. In this first post, we will tell you plenty about the charm of Shakotan. First of all, the way to read Shakotan is "Shakotan". Hokkaido Shakotan-gun Shakotan occupies the tip of the Shakotan Peninsula in the Sea of Japan to the west of Hokkaido, and is a city with beautiful coastline, rich nature, fresh seafood, and a spectacular view of the "Shakotan Blue" sea, which shines blue like a jewel throughout the four seasons. In Shakotan, there are fishing ports such as Bikuni, Irika and Yobetsu, and herring fishing flourished until the Taisho period. Let's take a look at some of the most popular sightseeing spots in Shakotan, which is rich in nature. The symbol of the Shakotan Peninsula, "Golden Cape", is characterized by its beautiful precipitous cliffs. From Shakotan Tourism Association to Cape Kogane, it takes about 20 minutes to walk along the 560-meter promenade "Chashina Path" to reach the observatory. From the observatory Shakotan you can see the highly transparent cobalt blue sea and treasure island. Treasure Island has a circumference of 600 meters and is characterized by the shape of a heart when viewed from the sky. From the "Underwater Observation Ship New Shakotan", you can see the scenic spot of Cape Golden from the sea. Through the glass on the bottom of the boat, you can see fish and sea urchins swimming in Hokkaido's only marine park as if they were in your hands, and you can feel the marine ecosystem of Hokkaido up close. Cape Shakotan is also one of Shakotan's beautiful coastlines, with highly transparent and vivid blue waters. After passing through a small tunnel, you can visit the Shimamui coast, which has been selected as one of the "100 best beaches in Japan". It is the only cape in the Shakotan that can go down to the coast. If you walk along the "Shilara Path" with a total length of about 1,800 meters, you will arrive at the Merokoiwa Observatory in about 1 hour. There is a legend of Shirara, a maiden who fell in love with Minamoto no Yoshitsune. Next, I would like to introduce Cape Kamui. It takes about 26 minutes to walk along the "Charenka Path" promenade from the gate where women are prohibited to reach the tip of Cape Kamui, and a magnificent view of the Sea of Japan spreads out on both sides of the promenade, and the tip of the promenade is a superb view spot where you can see the surroundings 300 degrees. The Kamui Rock that can be seen below has the legend of the maiden Charenka standing in the sea. On the Shakotan Peninsula, you can also enjoy the great nature of the mountains. Mt. Shakotan is a 1255-meter mountain that is also home to brown bears. From the summit, which can be climbed in about 3 hours and 30 minutes, you can enjoy a superb 360-degree view as far as the eye can see. Next, we will introduce the specialty products of Shakotan. Speaking of Shakotan, fresh seafood!! In particular, "sea urchin" stands out among them, has a rich sweetness, and its taste is unforgettable once you eat it. There are many tourists who come to the Shakotan for fresh seafood such as sea urchins. Don't miss the information on Shakotan events and festivals. The "Tengu Fire Walking" of the "Bikuni Shrine Festival" held on July 4, 5, and 6 every year is a traditional event that has been held only here in Japan since the Edo period, and prays for maritime safety, good fishing, and a good harvest. Shakotan is full of natural beauty, fresh produce and great events that will put a smile on your face. The beautiful Shakotan blue sea, the taste of sea urchins dancing on the tongue, and an elegant time surrounded by nature. All of them will be deeply engraved in your hearts. We will regularly send out the latest information on the Shakotan of Hokkaido Shakotan-gun! Please look forward to!
