About a 5-minute walk from Awa Katsuyama Station, there is a small mountain "Daikokuyama". Customers who visit sightseeing Information Center sometimes ask me, "What is that mountain? I get the question. Yes, you can climb it! If you are Adult, you can climb it in 15 minutes with healthy legs, so I would recommend it to people with many. That said, the slope is huge, so it's a good idea to wear trekking shoes. I used a Nordic stick to climb this time, so it was very easy. (Nordic sticks are rented at the Information Center for 500 yen per day) The Katsuyama area is known as the birthplace of Boshu whaling, and it There are a history of whaling flourishing, especially in the Edo period. Mt. Daikoku served as a whale viewing platform. As soon as you climb the mountain, you will find the tomb of the founder of The Boso peninsula whaling, the first Daigo Shinbei! On the way, there are wires overhead, so if you are tall, please be careful. Observation decks also have benches, so you can take a rest. The view from here is outstanding, and we have been praised by tourists who say, "It's a wonderful city like a Picture book." By all means, please try to climb it once.
