This time, I made a reservation half a year ago, so I was able to stay lodging in a 200-year-old gassho-zukuri minshuku, and thanks to that, I was able to fully enjoy the nostalgic original scenery of Japan. In addition to the illumination at night, the quiet early morning walk, which is only possible for those who stayed at the lodging, was exceptional.

World Heritage Gokayama gassho-zukuri village One of them, the Aikura Gassho-zukuri village, is lit up several days a year. I went to the "Original Scenery of Japan Floating in the Snowfield" which was held for only two days in February. Unfortunately, it was raining, but the scenery that emerged was like Japan old world. I went there in summer and autumn, but the snowy scenery in winter is the one that looks the best.

If you come from the Toyama side, you can go to Shirakawa-go and Gokayama after sightseeing in Shogawakyo, so it is definitely recommended for car travel. It was also very refreshing to drive along the river road towards the next destination, Shirakawa-go. It was snowing the day before, so I thought there would be a little more snowfall, but it's quite difficult.
