Gion Shrine Summer Festival July 15 was the Gion Shrine’s summer festival⛩ We covered the Morimaki ritual held before the ceremony📷 They shaped the makaya grass gathered that morning into the form of Yamata no Orochi💪 Makaya is stiff, and twisting large amounts at once is a real challenge😅 Still, the Morimaki Ritual Preservation Society finished it with impressive skill✨ The amazake prepared overnight also turned out exceptionally tasty this year😆 There were many more visitors this year, which made us happy😁 The local community cherishes their “Gion-san” It will surely continue together with the community going forward🥰

Sakai Tourism Concierge recommendation ✨ “📍A special moment to soak in history and beauty at Sakai’s tea room Shin-an 🍵” I’m Azusa Nakase from the Sakai Tourism Concierge. I visited Shin-an, Sakai City’s tea room, to experience a Japanese space that stands quietly in stillness 😆 Built by Kodō Ōgi, renowned as a master of sukiya-style construction, the tea room presents a beautiful blend of modernity and tradition. The moment I stepped inside, I felt time slow down 😌✨ You can also join a tea-serving experience 🍵 and taste matcha with seasonal sweets while touching the culture of chanoyu ☺️ One bowl of tea can enrich the heart so much…🍃 Please stop by during your Sakai sightseeing 🙌🏻 https://www.sakai-tcb.or.jp/spot/detail/107...

Kikuchi Tourism Association offers bicycle rentals. Recently, more people have been using them. This time, we introduce the popular destination, Kiki Castle. Kiki Castle is a mountain fortress built by the Yamato government in the late 7th century, about 1,350 years ago. A prefectural excavation uncovered valuable remains, including the foundations of 72 buildings, a former reservoir, and earthwork embankments. You can also see reconstructed buildings on site. At Onko Soseikan, exhibitions and videos explain Kiki Castle’s history and structure in detail. Excavations have continued since fiscal 1967 to the present. In terms of area, the site is about 12 times the size of the Tokyo Dome. The grounds are very spacious, making them ideal for a walk. Our staff actually visited by electric-assist bicycles. We reached Kiki Castle from Kikuchi City Furusato Sosei Citizen Plaza in about 20 minutes. There are some slopes, but electric-assist bicycles make riding easy. On the site is a café called Kuri to Sora that sells sweets made with Japanese chestnuts. The Mont Blanc soft-serve is especially popular. Please stop by the café to relax during your trip. You can enjoy scenery you don’t usually see. When you visit Kikuchi City, please enjoy a bicycle journey.

📍Susoaidaira (Susoaidaira) | Hokkaido – Daisetsuzan Range A breathtaking scene of short-lived summer flowers you can see only in summer. From the trailhead at Sugatami Pond, the path leads you as if into a heavenly flower garden. Above 1,600 meters in elevation, at the foot of Asahidake where snow still lingers, alpine plants like chinguruma carpet the slopes in a miraculous display. It felt like a quiet, gentle moment that lifted my spirits. 🌿 👉These photos were taken yesterday. The beauty truly took my breath away.

Iyo City Tourism and Products Association Soleillo
Jul. 10, 2025
Hello, this is Soleyo Tourism and Products Association, Ehime Prefecture! Now, following on from Yamabuki Shrine and the legend of Goshikihime, this time let's talk about "Kamakura Shrine". When you think of "Minamoto Heigosen", names such as Minamoto no Yoritomo and Taira Kiyomori immediately come to mind, but do you know who "Minamoto Noriyori" is? One of Minamoto no Yoritomo's younger brothers, who also appeared in the NHK taiga drama "13 people of Kamakura-den" broadcast in 2022 (Reiwa 4), is "Minamoto no Yoriyori". Since he was born and raised in Kama Mikuriya in Toei Province (present-day Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture), he was also called Kabakaja and Kabado. Tucked away at the foot of Mt. Gyodo in Iyo City, Ehime Prefecture, the tomb of Minamoto Noriyori is built at Kamakura Shrine. Noriyori played a great role for the Minamoto clan, such as defeating Kiso Yoshinaka with Minamoto Yoshitsune and leaving achievements in the pursuit of the Heike at the Battle of Dannoura, but he was suspected of rebellion due to a single careless remark and was imprisoned in the ShuZen Temple in Izu. There are various theories about his whereabouts after that, but one of them is that he fled to Iyo City, Ehime Prefecture, relying on the Kono clan of Iyo. The five-ring pagoda at the foothills of the pond beside the shrine was mourned as the tomb of Noriyori, and it is the Shomyoji Temple that stands right next to it. It is written in the ancient journal that the golden Bishamon statue of Bishamon, which is said to have been carried by Noriyori, came out when the enoki tree in the Shomyoji Temple was cut down. In the Edo period, the Lords of Ozu erected a tombstone and began to enshrine Minamoto Noriyori as Kamakura Shrine. It is said that since ancient times, as a god of war, many people from distant other prefectures have visited to pray for victory. Before Shrine, I There are Natsume Soseki's phrase monument. It is the oldest Soseki phrase monument in Japan, and it is a rare phrase monument with two phrases and one stele. Tokachi Hills, a garden on a gentle hill in Makubetsu, is hosting Rose Week until Sunday, July 13. At the entrance, you can borrow leisure sheets and baskets for free and enjoy a picnic inside the garden. The café attached to the shop serves soft-serve ice cream, rice balls, curry and more. This time I had a chilled white corn soup made with Memuro-grown corn. There is also Garden Cafe NIWAKARA in the garden, where you can enjoy lunch or a reservation-only afternoon tea while looking over the grounds. Even after Rose Week, various events take place, so please stop by. If you cycle from obihiro station, there are uphill sections, so we recommend an electric bicycle. Cycling will give you a good sweat—please watch out for heatstroke. You pass Manabe Garden by bike, so you can visit both gardens on one ride. It takes about 25 minutes by bike from Manabe Garden to Tokachi Hills. https://www.tokachi-hills.jp//

Notice of the End of the After Hydrangea Festival The hydrangeas floated in the tanks around the monument at Izukyu Shimoda Station rotary were well received by many visitors, and for a brief while everyone could enjoy a beautiful sight 💐✨ Although the display was originally scheduled to run until Tuesday, July 16, we decided to remove the flowers on the evening of Friday, July 11 due to consecutive days of extreme heat. This being the first attempt at this exhibition, we conducted the trial under three challenging conditions—hydrangeas past their peak in the garden, near-summer temperatures, and water—while worrying how long the blossoms could remain beautiful. We implemented all possible measures, including rotating flowers and topping up the tanks, but under the midsummer-like sun it proved difficult to preserve their beauty, so we made the decision to end the display earlier than planned. We sincerely apologize to everyone who was looking forward to it and ask for your understanding. Next fun thing in Shimoda: swimming at the beach 🏖️ Please continue to enjoy everything Shimoda has to offer 🌊🍧🎐

\ ✨💠After the Hydrangea Festival💠✨ /
Starting today, July 2nd, hydrangeas are floating in the monument tank at Izukyū Shimoda Station rotary.💠🫧
The hydrangeas were carefully pruned by the staff in charge of Shimoda Park, and they will remain on display until Wednesday, July 16th.
Even hydrangeas that have passed their peak in the park look fresh and beautiful when floated on the water!
There are especially many blue hydrangeas, which stand out against the summer sky and give a very refreshing impression.🌿🩵
If you are nearby, please stop by and take a look!
